5 out of 5 eggsUpdate...7 years later!

Pros: What can I say? This supply is still putting out after 7 years! The one customer I remain in contact with after all this time is still using it in the XP gaming rig it was originally installed in, playing Source Engine games, Unreal 3 Engine games...etc. He is a gaming fool and keeps this machine around for all his older games. The supply powers an AMD socket 754 A64 3400+ Venice & Radeon X1600 Pro... ahhh nostalgia!

Cons: Are ya kidding me? Cons? After 7 years?

Other Thoughts: It will be interesting to see how long this thing will hang on. Will update again if possible.

5 out of 5 eggsStill Good

Pros: Works well,
Cool Colors,
Nice cables,
Easy to reach fan speed,
Keeps fairly cool,

Cons: At max speed it can get a little noisy, not modular but I knew this going in.

Other Thoughts: This thing has lived a good life in a PC that was very stable, went through a few power surges at different times over the years without any problems, and it still works to this day.

4 out of 5 eggsBetter than expected

Pros: - Quiet fan operation at low speed setting.
- Supports 2X6Pin+2Pin PCI Express.
- Has dual 12v output. (According to the manual, Max +12 V1 16A, Max +12 V2 18A)
- 4 Serial ATA connectors.
- 8 Peripheral connectors.
- Supports 1XP4/P8 ATX 12V
- Powers my AMD Athlon II X4 640 & 4 hard drives with no problem.

Cons: - As the fan speed control knob would catch the edge of my old micro-ATX case, this prevented two of the four power supply screw mount holes from properly lining up with the case mount holes.
- The main AC power connector can easily come loose from the power supply.

Other Thoughts: Both Newegg and the manufacturer website need to update their product description details to properly reflect the configuration & specifications of this power supply. I am however quite pleased with what I got.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Perfect for a mid-high end gaming build. Most good graphics cards require atleast 400W.
Nice blue LED. Problem with that is it's on one of the fans and that same fan happens to be facing downwards meaning the LED is basically useless.
Manual Fan Speed Wheel pretty nifty if you're looking to do some OCing.

Cons: The cables are green which I think is a big "eye-candy" drawback. Seeing as the LED light is blue; they could've made the cables at least blue. (preference)

Other Thoughts: This is a really good priced PSU. I bought it for a 3rd build and it seems to be just fine.

5 out of 5 eggsGot this in 2004

Pros: This thing is the Toyota truck of PSUs. I got this free with a case i bought for my first gamer build in 2004. It has been working almost nonstop everyday since without a problem. Lights up and fan knob still work. Cables are still ugly. I have used it in 4 systems. It is currrently powering a AMD Phenom II x4 955 with 8gb of ram and a 6570 video card in a build I did for my mother . I even smoked around this thing (when I smoked) for 4 yrs. It got dusty and clogged. I took it apart, cleaned it and it just keep going. I wish newer more expensive PSUs were as well built. I'm currently on my 3rd Ultra x4 850w replacement in 3 yrs. Stupid thing keeps dying. Thank goodness for lifetime warranty.

Cons: Maybe 1, it's ugly.

Other Thoughts: Whatever these are made from should be used in earthquake and tsunami areas. The buildings and electric grids would just keep working.

5 out of 5 eggsFlashy and solid

Pros: Been used and abused for four years now, still going strong. The fan adjustment is nice because 100% is loud.

Cons: The neon stuff around the cables gets kind of annoying after four years.

Other Thoughts: Its cool if you're building a computer with a window and going for a yellow/neon color. It'll look nice and work too.

1 out of 5 eggsDead at 15 weeks

Pros: Lots of various connections. Fan speed adjuster. Affordable price.

Cons: Lasted 15 weeks. I can't think of another PSU that died so fast.

Other Thoughts: I would not buy products from this company again. If their QA is this lax on one item, I would just not feel comfortable giving them my business again.

Manufacturer Response:

You can do an RMA through us for the power supply to get an exchange on the PSU if you are still under our warranty period. You can contact Apevia's customer service at service@apevia.com or call at (909) 718-0789. We try to reply to all calls and e-mails as soon as we can.

5 out of 5 eggsUnbelievable...it won't die!

Pros: Newegg shipped me this thing on 11/28/2005, and it's still going! I just pulled it up to look at the specs to see if it pushed enough amps to be used for another rebuild, and was shocked to see that it's still available for sale. YMMV, but this thing has definitely far surpassed my expectations. If I ever have kids, I may be handing this thing down to them.

Cons: Hasn't gone down in price in the last six+ years. Can be a little noisy if you've got the fan cranked up all the way. I personally find the green cables hideous, but I don't have a windowed case, so no big deal. I only see them when blowing out the dust bunnies.
