An important tip from one of our users: don't just check total power output, find out what you need in the way of current on each power rail. If you need 20 A on your +12V rails and the supply only has 15A, it doesn't matter how many watts the supply puts out: don't buy it. Make certain that you have ENOUGH rails, too: sometimes, you need more than just two +12V rails for your setup.

Replacing an existing power supply is easier: just get a replacement that meets or exceeds the specifications of the old one. (You can usually find those printed on the side of the supply.)

That said, here's a power supply that is compatible with most ATX format motherboards, puts out 680 watts of power (see specifications for exact distribution). Could this be your next power supply?

5 out of 5 eggs7 years strong

Pros: Comes at a good price, the multi-color LEDs are a nice fit for many cases. Cables are tough and pretty easy to organize given that it's not modular.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I've had this exact model of power supply for over 7 years now and used it in 3 different builds. It works just as well now as it did when I bought it. I'm only now retiring it because I need a high wattage PSU.

4 out of 5 eggsdefault color

Pros: This is a good p/s overall. Price.

Cons: None really but see other thoughts.

Other Thoughts: The power cables seem short although it could be the connector placement of the MOBO. It would be nice if the main power cable to the MOBO were longer because if a large video card is installed it really does hamper cable management.

4 out of 5 eggsLasted 8 years

Pros: Lasted 8 years.
Love the LEDs, and options to switch them.
Looks great.

Cons: N/A

Other Thoughts: I couldn't *really* call this a con, but after 8 years, whenever I attempt to play a newer game (like Diablo III or State of Decay), my computer simply shuts off. I'm not sure it was ever designed with today's graphics cards in mind, but again, it *did* last 8 years, so I can't complain too much! :)

5 out of 5 eggsVery Cool

Pros: This is a very Pretty PSU. It has everything I needed to run 5 HD's and 2 1gb Video Cards. The 12 volt has 24 amp, which my case recommended. When I priced other PSU's that met my requirements, they were all way higher priced. This one was on sale for 59 and worth every penny of it.

Cons: So many connections! - not a con, just hard to managed 6 different strands. But the plus side is - no matter what - you have plenty of connectors to run all equipment.

This PSU is not for small cases. if your case is only 2 bays big - buy a new case! - This PSU is worth it!

Other Thoughts: This is a highly recommended PSU

4 out of 5 eggsAPEVIA ICEBERG

Pros: Not my forte' to know the best Power supplies for any build. I've only ever swapped out power supplies on Brand names and liked Diablotek. However if you like lights and a decent performing Power supply this is it. Call me geek but i love the lights and the ability to change the color of the leds. I like the clear top as you see the inner workings. Overall all is well

Cons: Bottom mounting requires you to put it in upside down if you want the clear case to show. Would be nice if they can have a reversable for bottom mounting

Other Thoughts: There are quite a few power supplies out there but this is the only one i found with the clear case feature and changing lights.

5 out of 5 eggspowah

Pros: it was boxed well sleeved better then i hoped i was very happy with the fan controller it was smaller then it looked but thats a plus for me

the cords came bundled in 2 groups so it made my cable management easy didnt have to undo 1 bundle of cables

Cons: i couldnt test if it worked by its self when i got it

i have to plug it up in a junkie system i had

Other Thoughts: i liked everything about this power unit the clear case makes it stand out and when i cut out a nice window for it
i can show it off

the down side is that i dont have my full system built yet and i couldnt test the unit unless i put it in

so when you get it dont say its broken til you plug it in your build it wont work

5 out of 5 eggsBeast

Pros: This thing is hard to kill, I bought this as a replacement for a stock PSU that went and I have owned it since buying it on 11/9/2006 and its still running strong at the time this is posted(12/19/2013) in my Daughters PC I cant tell you how shocked I am at 0 issues for 7 years , I wouldn't hesitate to buy this again..

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I wish the 2-3 PC's this thing has outlived faired as well as this thing..

3 out of 5 eggsAPEVIA ICEBERG ATX

Pros: It lights up.

Cons: The wires are not sleeved as well as they seem to be in the pictures. ALSO There was a wire inside the PSU that was in the way of the fan, and I had to take a screwdriver and stick it in the fan exhaust to push it out of the way in order to use it, as it was making a terrible sound that resembled a baseball card on a bicycle tire.

Other Thoughts: I own a Corsair AX760 and CX600M. I think if you're looking for a solid power supply that lights up, that you should consider just buying a higher end power supply and investing in another form of case lighting instead.

5 out of 5 eggsStill kicking!

Pros: I purchased this for a build with an intel Q6600 way back in 2006 or 07 and It has been and still serves me well. This has been a very stable PSU and it has outlasted the processor and mother board that I purchased it with. I am now on my 2nd build with this PSU and plan to use it on the 3rd. At first I was impressed with the ability to change the colors and the built in fan attenuator but now I'm impressed that it is still running just as it did when I purchased it from Newegg.

Cons: None what so ever.

Other Thoughts: If you happen to run across one of these new or used you had better latch on to it because it's a keeper.
