An important tip from one of our users: don't just check total power output, find out what you need in the way of current on each power rail. If you need 20 A on your +12V rails and the supply only has 15A, it doesn't matter how many watts the supply puts out: don't buy it. Make certain that you have ENOUGH rails, too: sometimes, you need more than just two +12V rails for your setup.

Replacing an existing power supply is easier: just get a replacement that meets or exceeds the specifications of the old one. (You can usually find those printed on the side of the supply.)

That said, here's a power supply that is compatible with most ATX format motherboards, puts out 680 watts of power (see specifications for exact distribution). Could this be your next power supply?

5 out of 5 eggsGREAT!

Pros: This PSU is great, i love it i have owned it for over a year now and it has worked great. i love th push pull fan set up and the fan controller on the back of it. it allows you to quickly turn the fans up if you are doing any hard gaming or computer work of any kind. i also love the 3 way color switch. I have multi color fans in my computer and depending what mood i am in i can adjust them accordingly. Also this PSU has a good weight to it. a good way to judge how quality a PSU is, is by how heavy it is. the heavier the better. this guy weighs a little more than 6 lbs

Cons: one con, though not a very big one is this PSU is not a modular, so make sure you have room to store the cords. also when i turn the fans up all the way there is a little ticking noise. but you can not hear it once you start playing games, watching movies or listening to music.

Other Thoughts: when i bought this PSU the 680 watt was low, not enough to SLI two GTX 480 together. but with the newer GPU's (600-700) series you can SLI 680-780 with this guy.

1 out of 5 eggsworst psu ever

Pros: pretty sweet looking

Cons: burnt out after exactally 2 months of very light use. Leds only kinda worked but I didn't want them on anyways. fan knob never worked. to date worst psu I have ever owned.

Other Thoughts: I think that's the last of this brand I would like to own. Doubt there is even a warrenty that they will cover due to seemly high doa/fail rate.

Manufacturer Response:

You can do an RMA through us for the power supply to get an exchange on the PSU if you are still under our warranty period. You can contact Apevia's customer service at service@apevia.com or call at (909) 718-0789. We try to reply to all calls and e-mails as soon as we can.

2 out of 5 eggsLED Disappointment

Pros: It's still supplying power.

Cons: I purchased this on 02/21/2013 & about 3 weeks ago I noticed the red LED burned out. Today 4/24/2013 I noticed the LED lights change back to Blue after avery restart or shut down. If you want any other color than Blue, you will have to reach to the back of your computer & set it at start up every time.

Other Thoughts: Company should be honest about how long the LEDs last, & how you have to set the color back after every restart (unless you want Blue).

3 out of 5 eggsDisappointed

Pros: You can adjust the fan speed, change LED colors, & the power supply is adequate. Nice colored wiring that glows with the LED's.

Cons: A red LED has burned out already, & I haven't used the red color until now, but I did check it out when the PSU was new and the red LED's worked fine then. I have only owned this PSU for less than 2 months.

Other Thoughts: Since this power supply is brand new and already has an LED burned out, it makes me nervous about the life of the power supply, & the rest of the LED's.

2 out of 5 eggsComputer will not turn on anymore.

Pros: It's pretty. You can adjust the fan speed manually.

Cons: Bought this in January. Now it's March and my computer won't turn on anymore. I push the button to power it up and the PSU lights up for a second and then shuts off. Looking to get an RMA - we'll see how that goes.

Also, the LED colour does not remember which colour you selected when you restart. You have to manually change it each time you turn on your system.

Other Thoughts: It's cheap, what do you expect? Go with something better like a Corsair PSU.

4 out of 5 eggsNot at first

Pros: Great lighting for a LED heavy case. Like the variable speed of the fans. Light changeability is fun. Seems to supply enough power and more than enough cabling to get the job done. Previous PSU didn't have enough cabling for all my needs.

Cons: First time around, the lights and fan speed potentiometer didn't work at all. I took another chance and got a good system. My recommendation with returns is to get a refund and repurchase at the same time. You'll get your RMA's faster. Newegg's present process is time consuming. The -1 egg is for the RMA process.

5 out of 5 eggsEpic PSU

Pros: Amazing look. Easily one of the best PSU's I've seen.

Can change the LED colors at the back with a button. Blue, Red, Green and off. I like Blue.

680 watts of power so you don't need to worry too much about lack of it.

Tons of cables and hookups, and the cables are long so you can fit them inside that NZXT phantom or any case with back-side cable management.

Cables are covered in neon-green mesh. Looks really nice.

2 Fans and they're pretty quiet at around 40% or lower, but they can get noisy at higher RPMs. Luckily, theres a fan knob to turn it down if needed.

Cons: If you're installing this on a smaller case, you might run into issues of how big it is and how much cable they give you.

Not 80 cert.

Other Thoughts: Haven't really ever heard of bought Apevia before, but it was a gamble and a good one. My computer runs amazingly well and no problems so far with anything power related. It powers my Phenom X4 965 and 7950 perfectly.

Going on about 3 or 4 months now.

5 out of 5 eggsVery good looking.

Pros: Power supply just makes everything look better. The colored sheathing on the wires helps make your install look like a pro.

Cons: Had to RMA the second one I bought, but apevia was very good to deal with and got me another one lickety split.
