An important tip from one of our users: don't just check total power output, find out what you need in the way of current on each power rail. If you need 20 A on your +12V rails and the supply only has 15A, it doesn't matter how many watts the supply puts out: don't buy it. Make certain that you have ENOUGH rails, too: sometimes, you need more than just two +12V rails for your setup.

Replacing an existing power supply is easier: just get a replacement that meets or exceeds the specifications of the old one. (You can usually find those printed on the side of the supply.)

That said, here's a power supply that is compatible with most ATX format motherboards, puts out 680 watts of power (see specifications for exact distribution). Could this be your next power supply?

2 out of 5 eggscool but so many flaws...

Pros: cool led lights. Had more connectors then stated.

Cons: Out of the box I was upset to see the 20+4 pin where it connects together shaved off (got over that because I understand where they put the heat shrink it would not have slid apart) and one of the other wire's had an extra heat shrink that was on there for no reason and not shrunk. After I fired it up I tested the led's they all work but having to go ham on the button to get it to go from green and blue to the red and off setting really suck's. Last thing i checked was the fans control knob and at max its fine but at low i see the fan in back wobbling and making a horrific noise that sounds like electric sparks.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Worked well for 3 years. never had any issues running my gaming rig. I can't really complain with as cheap as it was.

Cons: It has to be replaced after 3 years of service and saw something shorting out inside of it. Could've been dangerous.

5 out of 5 eggsMy Favorite PSU

Pros: I have bough 4 of these for various build and I love love love it. It always has enough power for everything I throw at it and they last a very long time. I have never had a unit die. They have adjustable fans in the back and the colors look cool. They look good and they work great.

Cons: The cords are a tad short for secondary motherboard power.

4 out of 5 eggsNice lights

Pros: Quiet;

Plenty of connections;

Lights up: red, green, blue;

Cons: Not designed well for bottom mounting, which is how almost all cases are now. The 4/8-pin CPU power cord is a bit short. It barely worked but it's tight against the GPU. You may want to grab a CPU power cable extension.

It's upside-down for the plexiglass to face upwards on bottom mounting. Not a big deal and not noticible unless you read the labels on the back.

Intake fan is on the back, which is where the unused cables and lengths are going to be stowed in most cases. New cases have intakes on the bottom now. Temps are still good though.

Other Thoughts: Still a good buy.

3 out of 5 eggsComputer fliped out

Pros: looks cool. nice fan's

Cons: well would not put out enough power in 12 volts . read 11.3 volts might have got a bad one.

Other Thoughts: MY nephew as the same one and been using it for a year now.. only thing I can think of is maybe my motherboard msi z68a-gd65 with an I7 2600k overclocked at 4.8ghz was too much.. but ran stock and it will run but once I played games turn off pc. put in another pc same thing.. RmA time.

2 out of 5 eggsPoor Workmanship / QC

Pros: Like the power cbl sleeving. Cuts down on the cbl clutter within the PC casing. Had a previous Apevia Iceberg style and liked it.

Cons: Today, I saw a screw laying within the PSU casing. W/O a doubt, this is taboo within any computer system and indicates poor workmanship and quality control, to say the least. Had that screw been lodged someplace else it may have caused SERIOUS damage to all of the components attached to it. BIG BUCKS to repair.
