1 out of 5 eggsThird time not a charm

Pros: Looks good

Cons: This is the third unit I've had in the last 7 months: the first 2 failed (wouldn't turn on) within days of their arrival, this one held out for about 6 months in a machine that didn't see a lot of use (maybe 2 weeks use in that time). Where the others failed obviously and directly, this one didn't: it would still turn on and some things would power up, other things would not and Windows would hang at a black screen on booting.

Other Thoughts: Apevia's RMA process is pretty good, and the guy there (Norman) is a pretty good guy, but I shouldn't have hit 3 bad power supplies in a row.

Pros: Price

Cons: Reliability

Other Thoughts: You might get lucky with this PSU and have it last. Mine did not, six months to be exact.

Manufacturer Response:

You can do an RMA through us for the power supply to get an exchange on the PSU if you are still under our warranty period. You can contact Apevia's customer service at service@apevia.com or call at (909) 718-0789. We try to reply to all calls and e-mails as soon as we can.

4 out of 5 eggsWhat can I say for $35?

Pros: Cheap, effective, decent wattage. I have owned mine since August 2008 and it has ran great. Started with an MSI K9N v2, Athlon X2 5400+ OC'ed to 3GHz, Radeon HD4850, 2GB RAM, 1 SATA HDD, 1 DVD Burner. Packed in an Antec Three Hundred with 2 case fans. Vista HP 32-bit.

Now after my recent upgrades I am running a Gigabyte MA785G-UD3H, Athlon II X4 620 OC'ed to 3GHz, the old Radeon HD4850, 4GB RAM, 2 SATA HDDs, 2 IDE HDDS, 3 DVD drives, and an Antec Three Hundred with 4 case fans. Windows 7 64-bit. Runs it all nice and smooth. No BSoD etc. from running demanding games such as Crysis, GTA IV, and Shattered Horizon. Not sure why others are having problems, got my upgrades in late September 2009 and with all this new gear I have had no problems.

Cons: -Lack of SATAs is annoying
-Molex cables are excessively long, everything else is short
-1 6-pin, no 8-pin
-Some of the cable sleeving is coming off of the main body of the PSU
-Box was practically empty, no manual/warranty info etc.

Other Thoughts: What can I say for 34.99? Got it at a place-that-wasn't-Newegg (are they that competitive?) and am glad I did. I don't think it will last another generation of PC upgrades - 500W just doesn't cut it these days.

And as always Newegg is win!

Pros: Price.

Cons: Died after the 30days was up so I can't get a Newegg RMA and Apevia only deals with Manufacters or Distributors.

2 out of 5 eggsSo-so

Pros: Cheap.
Rebate.

Cons: Can not handle any thing. Will die out very soon.
Cables were too short.

Other Thoughts: If you are just a casual user, this is perfect for you. If you play any new games, then you should consider another PSU.
You get what you pay for.

Pros: Ran fine until it died.

Cons: Ran fine until it died.

Other Thoughts: Lasted a whole 7 months. Please take the other reviews seriously.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks Great

Pros: -Fan ramps up when under heavy load, instead of running 100% all the time like some cheap PSU's do.
-120mm fan is very quiet when system is idling.
-Sleeved cables are uncommon in a cheap psu.
-Plenty of different lines, should work in a full tower.

Cons: -Fan ramps up to be quite loud under high load.
-Small heatsinks on inside of psu make me nervous, doesn't seem like much at all.
-4-pin cables are excessively tight, even the little grips that help you undo them don't help much.

Other Thoughts: A great PSU for a power-sipping system. When my system was idling I was reading 120 watts total consumption, and the fan was dead silent. However, when I max loaded it at 220 watts the psu ramped up its' fan to be a bit louder than the 2 80mm fans I have in the back of the case (which are relatively quiet). Still a good psu, and definitely worth it by far for the price.

2 out of 5 eggsAvoid this one....

Pros: Cheap, fairly quiet

Cons: You get what you pay for. My first died within a week of ownership, the second made it for 2 weeks (but the second week it was never turned on). A 785G mATX board (not overclocked), 2 DIMMs, a 4850, and 2 hard drives kills these things dead reliably, it seems. They just die silently: working, working, working.... then you go to start the computer again and nothing.

1 out of 5 eggsTerrible

Pros: Cheap

Cons: First one died within a month. Second one died after 4 months. Smelled a burning smell and heard a high pitched whine, the capacitor was about to burst. I violated my own rule buying this and never will again.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks fine

Pros: Purchased this power supply 11/15/08 and has worked fine with no problems as of yet. Don't believe all the reviews you read here as some people just rate it bad when it is there lack of knowledge in computers.

Cons: Only cons I've noticed are the lack of sata connectors.

Other Thoughts: This power supply has been working fine on my girlfriends computer, shes running a geforce 8800 GTS with no problems as of yet. She leaves her computer on almost all the time unless we are going out for a weekend and is has yet to fail. It is definitely a good buy for the price in my view and I hope you get one as successful as the one I purchased.
