5 out of 5 eggsA solid Powersupply

Pros: Modular, Efficient, Looks Good, lots of power

Cons: none yet

Other Thoughts: This power supply is a solid design with lots of options for connectors. The modular design cuts down on clutter in the case.

2 out of 5 eggsHigh Pitch Noise

Pros: The reviews on the internet say this is a great power supply, the brand is one of the best - I've been a fan for a long time. They are the same manufacturer that builds of many of the top branded PSUs out there.

Cons: As others have stated on this site and other review sites, the first batch of these PSUs had a defect in the transformer which causes a very high pitch and annoying noise at all times (on and off). I RMAed this for a Corsair 750HX.

Other Thoughts: If you get one that doesn't exhibit this high pitch noise, you will be very happy! If you get one that does exhibit this noise, you will want to RMA. If you call Seasonic directly I hear they are sending out good supplys. New Egg has not checked their stock so its a gamble when you RMA through them.

2 out of 5 eggsNot really sure yet

Pros: From what I understand, it's a very capable power supply.

Cons: My first unit arrived with the infamous coil whine. I almost think that's why newegg had it marked so low in the first place. I paid 139$ for what I think was a known bad batch.

When I contacted seasonic for a replacement, it was a pain. Had to pay shipping and wait two weeks.

Then I received the replacement, and it wasn't completely assembled! They forgot two screws so I was unable to even plug in any other cables besides the non-modular ones.

This time, I kinda went off, and they were nice enough to cross ship me a replacement for free, and pay for shipping that one back to them. I haven't tested it yet, as I'm in the middle of a big project. I will update this when I do. I'm just praying the whine is gone.

Other Thoughts: I think this company has some serious quality issues, but overall that it's a good product.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat power supply

Pros: Very quiet, stable power supply with great price various lengths of modular cables for precise fits, makes it easy to manage cables . Hey folks Seasonic makes their own and other companies commission seasonic to make units for them. These people know what they're doing.

Cons: I ordered to soon to get the free surge protector?

1 out of 5 eggsDOA

Pros: Usually Dependable company. Big enough power supply for low cost. Crossfire supported for high-end GPU's.

Cons: DOA. Never thought it would happen to me...especially on first online purchase. I was dumb for not instantly checking if it powered up. I installed my new vid card, and psu, and ran the cables and tied them off, made it nice and pretty. Hook everything up, and go to turn on but nothing happens.

Other Thoughts: My first ever online purchase...end up being a dud. I had previously bought a Diamond 5850 card, and the return policy is only 30 days. I don't know if the card works/runs well. Bought the power supply a week later and now I've got 13 days left. Just RMA'd yesterday, and Newegg has been great with the process.

Also make sure you have room for this puppy. I kinda scrapped this thing fitting it in behind my cd/dvd player. The cables that aren't modular were pressing right against it.

4 out of 5 eggsSo far so good

Pros: -Quiet

-Feels (heavy) and looks like high quality

-So far handles my overclocked quad core with no problem at all, as expected

-the semi-modular design is nice IMO, although there are a couple hardwired connectors you will still probably not use.

-main mobo power cables are a good length; i was just barely able to hide the EPS 12V cable tho. whew.

-very high efficiency , 80% to 87% most of the time it seems

Cons: -No where does it explain which cables use which rail on this dual rail system. annoying!!

-the fan is always on it seems, even if its dam quiet most the time

-expensive, even when it's the door crasher for a boxing day sale. Canadians always get ripped off it seems.

Other Thoughts: It's an all-around excellent power supply. It might not be the 'best', but there is no arguing that it is one of the best. It will meet the demands of nearly all consumers, whatever the requirements may be.

It's made by seasonic, which is an OEM manufacture for lots of other great PSU brands. Kinda hard to say one brand is better quality than another when both are made by the same company- defective products are unavoidable!!
It's straight up black - doesn't look ugly, but it doesnt really seem that fancy either. Racing stripes would of been enough to please me. =P

For the price, I kinda wish this PSU offered a few more innovations; maybe better cable management features, but a guy cant have everything i guess. Maybe a built in power meter LCD thing? Dunno. Something.

5 out of 5 eggsHigh quality 850w option

Pros: Price is the best in it's power /quality class. I got mine for $139 shipped.

Great efficiency - Pulls less from the wall, under identical conditions, than my other high end unit did (brand = prop driven fighter airplane).

Rock solid 12v, 5v, and 3.3v, even under heavy load with SLI GTX285's and I7 @ 4200mhz.

Lots of cables for all types of uses.

Nice fat 13 amp power cord.

Cons: Warranty is only 5 years as compared to the 7 the competition offers.

Power cord is only 5 feet long. All the ones I've ever had up to this point have been 6 feet???

I wish they'd just use a 4+4pin for the EPS 12v, rather than a 4+4 in addition to the 8pin. I hate trying to tuck that extra hardwired cord away.

Other Thoughts: FYI: Under full load of linpack and furmark concurrently, I'm pulling ~870w from the wall. At the efficiency rating of this unit, at the wattage (86%), my system is using 748.2w.

This is with an i7 W3520 @ 210x21 (4200mhz) and a pair of GTX285's at 780-1687-1440. Plus 2 ddc pumps and 5 fans.

1 out of 5 eggsBox was nice and soft

Pros: The box that it is shipped in is very nice. It has a nice 3 way latch folding system and is not your run of the mill cardboard. It has nice artwork and lots verbage. The graphics designer who put it together should get a raise, as well as the person that picked the soft cardboard.

Cons: Device has a barely audible high pitched screech coming from it on installation. When I put my ear next to the unit while it is running, there is no doubt it's the PSU. My computer sits on the floor and I can hear it pretty clearly.

Other Thoughts: I have read three reviews by the people who took this thing apart. jonnyguru gives it a 9/10. Another place gave it "silver level enthusiast" and the third didnt really care for it that much. I expected a working perfectly fine unit and did not get one. I am going to replace it though and give Seasonic one more try.

**If you read jonnyguru review, he says "Seasonic sent me this PSU..." Is it possible they hand pick the ones they're sending you? Maybe you should go down to the nearest retailer, take one off the shelf and send the receipt to Seasonic???

Will post back here after I receive next one.
