1 out of 5 eggsDOA

Pros: Cheap, had all the right connectors, easy return

Cons: DOA

Manufacturer Response:

Hi Nicholas, Sorry for the DOA. All units are very well tested before leaving the factory. Perhaps it was the shipping or perhpas something else? If you have further concerns or comments, please write to us at newegg@seasonicus.com Thank you.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks great

Pros: did exactly what i needed it to do, had to replace a power supply in a customer case that had failed. had all of the same connections that i needed and a couple more extras for expandibility. 80 plus bronze certified

Cons: none that i experienced

Other Thoughts: had to pull the motherboard out to replace it, but was just because of the custom case that the customer had. no con here

4 out of 5 eggsGood unit, but it is a wind tunnel

Pros: Seasonic with 3 year warranty
It will not explode
reasonable priced

Cons: lots of woosh noise from the wind tunnel

This unit really needs a fan speed switch, i don't think a 5/7/12v option is too much to ask for, temperature controlled would be better, but i think a switch would be cheaper

the color, nuff said

Other Thoughts: As this is not going to by my computer i am not going to bother taking the system apart and undoing my cable management, but if i ever use this unit again i am going to open it up and put at least a 50Ohm resistor on the fan's red cable (doing that will void the warranty)

Here are the fan's specs:
Model: AD0812UB-A70GL
Airflow: 43.8 CFM
Noise: 40 dBA
Speed: 4300RPM

If anyone wants to replace the fan i would suggest using a ARCTIC F8 fan
search newegg for N82E16835186074
if you under-volt that to 5v it will move plenty of air and be almost silent (by almost i mean you have to concentrate to hear it or be in a 100% silent room)

I can't find any quality units at any lower wattage, i would really like to see a 200 and 250W seasonic psu with how low power systems are becoming (would have used a 200W for this build)
When a basic Intel CPU is paired with a GTX 750/750 TI a 300W PSU is plenty and those are budget class gaming GPUs, lots of people get crazy overkill with 650W+ units for this not knowing any better.

You don't want too many watts, the 80 certificate only counts loads of 20% and up
a 300W PSU is ideal for 60-300W loads
optimizing a PSU in this way usually make very low loads much less efficient
Just cause a unit has a 80+ label does not mean it puts out quality power, any PSU below $40 is most likely very low grade that should be replaced asap

3 out of 5 eggsFirst SeaSonice DOA

Pros: Reasonably priced.
Active PFC.
High efficiency.

Cons: First one was DOA, have to pay 50% in price to return.

Other Thoughts: I've been very happy with SeaSonic supplies, this was my 5th for personal use (many others for clients). This was also my first DOA power supply. Newegg processed my RMA promptly but paying return postage and waiting to complete a build are still annoying.

Manufacturer Response:

Hi R R.
I am sorry to read of your experience. We try our best to do all the necessary quality control and it is possible that something may have happened during shipping that caused the failure. Importantly, I hope NewEgg and Seasonic USA was able to rectify your situation in a timely manner. If you have any concerns, please contact us at newegg@seasonicus.com Thank you.

5 out of 5 eggspfft its a seasonic

Pros: Seasonic quality and reputation. decent efficiency, pretty quite for a 80mm fan.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: this is the second one I've ordered. works great, so did the last one but...I've been a diehard seasonic fan boy for many years now ever since the first I never used anything else and never received less than the highest quality psu. but the last one of these i ordered the 12v ran at 11.81 instead of 12.04 or so like it should. I was within the wattage but think i may have exceeded ampage. that being said this model is several several years old and has a little lower amps than a newer model

5 out of 5 eggsGreat PSU

Pros: Great PSU as most people already know. Rock solid and all that was needed.

Cons: The cables are a little short so if you have a big case, you might need cable extenders.

Other Thoughts: Just buy it already!

5 out of 5 eggsGood, quiet PSU

Pros: Quiet, well built, good price.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: SeaSonic is generally my go-to brand for good quality, quiet and efficient power supplies. I've bought lots of them and rarely seen one fail.

3 out of 5 eggsMissing a few parts...

Pros: Well, it arrived. I can't tell you much more than that, because...

Cons: ...it arrived in bubblewrap (not in a nice drawstring bag and box like my last PSU from Seasonic, though to be fair this is OEM), and WITHOUT an A/C cord. Seriously, it's not like I have tons of those things lying around, could you maybe put that as the first line in the description next time?
