5 out of 5 eggsNice and very quiet

This review is from: SeaSonic SS-300ET Bronze 300W ATX12V V2.3 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: WIth the 120mm fan it's pretty silent. It wasn't expensive and sure beats a cheap one that makes grinding noises out of the box.

Cons: It doesn't come with a power cable. I've got about 100 power cables so I don't care. OEM boxed or just kinda loose with no box. In other words NO PACKAGING.

Other Thoughts: It's great if you realize it's just OEM packed. If you're a noob and don't know what OEM parts are you might be sad.

2 out of 5 eggsCables too short

This review is from: SeaSonic SS-300ET Bronze 300W ATX12V V2.3 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: I'm sure the pros from other reviews apply here. I'm unable to actually use the PSU for the reasons below.

Cons: My PC case has a bottom mount for the power supply. The main power cable is not long enough to reach the socket on my motherboard. It's short by a good 2-3 inches. I will have to purchase an extension.

Manufacturer Response:

Hi Matthew, Thank you for your review. Please note, the 300ET is for smaller sized cases and for system builders where the cable lengths are fairly fixed and short... therefore the cable lengths are not as long as some of our other models. Please check out our RTL power supplies and for these, the cable lengths are much longer. If you have any questions or comments, please write to: newegg@seasonicus.com Thank you

1 out of 5 eggsDied in under a year

This review is from: SeaSonic SS-300ET Bronze 300W ATX12V V2.3 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: Got the job done for 11 months

Cons: Died at 11 months. Totally unreasonable. I expect 3+ years out of a power supply.

Manufacturer Response:

Hi Alex, I am sorry for the failiure of the unit but please visit www.seasonicusa.com and start the RMA procedure and they will take care of your case as sson as possible. If you have any questions or concerns, please write to: newegg@seasoniceu.com Thank You.

5 out of 5 eggspower

This review is from: SeaSonic SS-300ET Bronze 300W ATX12V V2.3 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: great for a basic home pc, everything works perfectly powered by it, it's on a surfing living room pc and powers magic jack so it's on all the time. seasonics are known to be power rated very conservatively. this one would probably power a bigger system than you'd think.it's in a box i don't plan to upgrade so 300 watts is all i need. it will power a 2 gig video card and more easy if need be. probably better and more reliable than many larger power supplies that cost more. i like the silent 120mm, it exhaust inside the case as it should. i prefer that to the setup of the Antec 380 and i'm considering getting another seasonic to replace the 380 in my home recording pc. this will run a high end chip, ram, modest video, and if you're OS drive is solid state, who needs a lot of power. if you're going for a powerful yet green pc. this is a great item.

Cons: no

Other Thoughts: well worth a bit extra to get a proven power supply like this for your cost cutter builds

5 out of 5 eggsTalk about a good value...and it is Seasonic!

This review is from: SeaSonic SS-300ET Bronze 300W ATX12V V2.3 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: The wattage stated is what you get! This is a Seasonic PSU, although obviously meant to be used by PC manufacturers in their builds. No flashy paint or other add-ons..just honest reliable power.

Pros:

1. Seasonic, as I said. Reliable.
2. Built with quality components.
3. All the ratings and power protections one would expect in a high quality unit such as OVP, OCP, etc. UL listed.
4. Active PFC.
5. 80 Plus Bronze rated.
6. Silent...I cannot hear it.

Cons: None...well maybe the fact that it is OEM and therefore does not come with a power cable...but I knew that up front and ordered one.

The only other thing I can point out is that the design is a little dated since it still has a Berg floppy connector on it.

Other Thoughts: Be aware that Seasonic does not build PSUs to fail early, so this PSU is 300W and has the connectors to match that wattage. No PCI-E connectors, only one 12V CPU AUX connector, and more than enough SATA and MOLEX connectors.

This is the perfect PSU for replacement in an older machine with a failing or failed PSU or for a smaller system that does not need much power like a HTPC or small form factor light duty server.

5 out of 5 eggsSilent PSU

This review is from: SeaSonic SS-300ET Bronze 300W ATX12V V2.3 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: This PSU feels like a quality piece of electronics. I cannot believe how quite this is compared to my old PSU that died. The only thing I can hear now is the hard drives clicking.

Cons: None, just make sure you match the motherboard power connectors, It has a 4 pin aux power, many motherboards require an 8 pin.

5 out of 5 eggsQuite Fan, only comes with 4pin ATX plug

This review is from: SeaSonic SS-300ET Bronze 300W ATX12V V2.3 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: As advertised. The Fan is very quite. Good power efficiency.

Cons: Not really a problem, I was a little surprised that it only comes with one 4-pin ATX CPU plug. (Normally, you get a 24pin ATX and two 4-pin ATX plugs). This only matters if you are running a power hungry CPU. Which you probably would have bought a bigger PS anyways.

Other Thoughts: As mentioned, this is a 300W PS which comes with a single 4-pin ATX CPU connector. I am using this on a Intel low power 65W CPU, so it works great for me. If you are running a bigger CPU, this will not work for you.

5 out of 5 eggsGood Basic Use Power Supply

This review is from: SeaSonic SS-300ET Bronze 300W ATX12V V2.3 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: Simple, quality construction and 80 plus bronze, I trust SeaSonic.

Cons: Black would have been nicer for the color but at this price I'm being picky.

Other Thoughts: Doesn't include a power cord for connecting to the wall, not a complaint I'm just mentioning it for people who don't know what oem means. I used this for a basic computer for my mom has plenty of power for that and it was a good value. Ignore any reviews that complain about them not including a power cord for connecting it to the wall outlet, they either didn't properly read the description or don't know what oem means.

5 out of 5 eggsGood HTPC PSU

This review is from: SeaSonic SS-300ET Bronze 300W ATX12V V2.3 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: Turns on and off appropriately.

Cons: You can hear it a (very) little bit when there isn't much going on in the background. It's not an issue if a video is playing.

5 out of 5 eggsUpdate !!!!

This review is from: SeaSonic SS-300ET Bronze 300W ATX12V V2.3 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: Attention !!!! Apparently some new PSU's have fans that don't necessarily kick on just because the unit is powered om !!!! I RMA-ed 1 of these for that reason, got the replacement, & same thing happened. I hooked up a PSU tester & it said AOK !!!! Be alert to this if you are a rube builder such as myself :-/ ....

Cons: none so far ....

Other Thoughts: This was/is news to me, I thought I was snakebit nuying PSU's this year, but apparently not .... Live & learn ....
