5 out of 5 eggsReal winner

This review is from: SeaSonic SS-750KM3 750W ATX12V V2.3/EPS 12V V2.91 SLI Ready 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Full Modular Active PFC Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: Bought back in 2012 still going strong with no signs of immediate failure. See some one star reviews that say its noisy or died shortly after ariving. I personally have none of that so I guess they just got a bad one which happens from time to time.

Electronics are sensitive and don't like to be moved much is all I can say about that.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: Would never get anything but a modular PSU ever. Makes for a real nice and clean install what with not having unnecessary cables all over the place.

1 out of 5 eggsDead After 2 Months

This review is from: SeaSonic SS-750KM3 750W ATX12V V2.3/EPS 12V V2.91 SLI Ready 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Full Modular Active PFC Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: Worked really well while it lasted

Cons: Died after two months. Took a CPU and MOBO with it. Replaced both the CPU and MOBO, assuming it wasnt the PSU and killed the new CPU and MOBO.

Other Thoughts: Probably a fluke in nature. I'll give SeaSonic another shot. Could have avoided killing the second CPU and MOBO had I tested the PSU. Lesson learned!

Manufacturer Response:

Hi Joe, I am sorry to read of your issue. Please note, our PSUs all have the necessary protection features so if there is a PSU fault, then the PSU will shut down to protect the other components. If there is a lightening strike or a major surge on the power grid, this will destroy the PSU and all the components. Please make sure you use a surge protector between the computer and the wall outlet. If you have any questions or comments, please contact us at: newegg@seasonicus.com

1 out of 5 eggsFlaky Customer Service and Products -- 3 Defective PSUs, 1 Fried Motherboard, and 1 Fried Video Card... Thanks Seasonic

This review is from: SeaSonic SS-750KM3 750W ATX12V V2.3/EPS 12V V2.91 SLI Ready 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Full Modular Active PFC Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: Velvet pouch to store the unused PSU. Currently using something more reliable.

Cons: First one failed shortly after a year; a capacitor just randomly blew up. Aside from it blowing up within a foot of me, the only thing I can complain about was that it suffered from coil whine. At that point, I was still willing to trust Seasonic for further PSU purchases. I filed for an RMA and received the replacement within a week. Wow. I figured, Seasonic must really care about its customers. Wrong. The replacement I received was a dud as well. It seems to be suffering from internal electrical discharging (you can literally hear the discharges). Worst part about the experience (so far) is that, I believe it killed my motherboards audio during one of its surges. My motherboard did give me a surge protection notice, but I have no way of proving it was due to the faulty PSU. Would they compensate me should it kill my next motherboard? Probably not.

[Update]: Uploaded a video so you could hear the replacement unit I received. Seasonic was initially hesitant to take it back. They only offered another replacement because I kept complaining about it. Third unit was the one that toasted my video card.

I've been trying to contact Seasonic for the past two weeks (through emails and through their automated online forms), but it's all getting rejected. People don't like filling RMAs for the products they buy (especially PC products) anymore than a company wants to fulfill their warranty claim. It's a weeks worth of downtime, and for every shipment, it's at least $10 (without insurance) to ship it. Take note: should the PSU get lost in the mail, they're not responsible. It'd be nice if they actually tested their refurbished PSUs before slapping an "OK" sticker on it and shipping it out to a customer that has already been let down the first time around. Bottom line Seasonic? If you're replacing a faulty product, make sure the replacement works.

I'll post an update down the line, but for now, to me anyhow, Seasonic represents flaky products and flaky customer service.

[Update]: PSU sparked on me again, melting the PCI-E cables connected to my video card and burning the connects on my video card as well. I complained to Seasonic that the video card has not been the same since the spark -- no real support. They asked me to ship the video card out to them, since they wouldn't cover the cost of repairing it through the original manufacturer. They cleaned out the burnt plastic from the PCI-E connectors and shipped the card back out. What a joke.

The upside -- they sent me a new unit, but only after requesting and complaining over the last 3 units I've had. It wasn't a retail box unit -- just a new PSU with some extra cables tossed on the side.

My advice? Go with another manufacturer, even if the PSU is made by Seasonic (such as Corsair, EVGA, Silverstone).

Other Thoughts: Promised Seasonic support a bad review, so here it is. Review was originally written for another e-tailer, with pictures and a video. Too lazy to write a new one.

Manufacturer Response:

Hi David, it is very sad that you actually take the time to post this fake review. Normally I do not reply to Verified Owner's reviews but I think your require a response. What you have written does not make any sense, sorry to say. You are just trying to make a list of things which you have read about and compile it into one place. Either you are someone from another brand of products or someone who has some 'issues' or someone who is just... really bored. As a reminder to you, this site is for people to post honest and serious opinions as this will help other buyer make an educated purchase. 5 out of 5 eggsPurchased 12/29/2009 and still going strong

This review is from: SeaSonic SS-750KM3 750W ATX12V V2.3/EPS 12V V2.91 SLI Ready 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Full Modular Active PFC Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: I purchased this in 12/29/2009 to replace another manufacturers dead PSU. It was $190 back then and it's been worth every penny. It's still running strong and I'll be buying another Seasonic for my next build.

Cons: NONE

5 out of 5 eggsQuiet, solid so far.

This review is from: SeaSonic SS-750KM3 750W ATX12V V2.3/EPS 12V V2.91 SLI Ready 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Full Modular Active PFC Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: Seasonic build quality. Quiet fan. With the proliferation of CPU power options, a modular PSU finally makes sense to me. Cables are nicely braided. Installed fairly easily, minus an issue with the rubber grommet on the case being too small for the 8 pin CPU power plug. (Not Seasonic's fault.) I think this is PSU number 4 I've bought from Seasonic, none of which have needed replacement. (Just building rigs.)

Cons: None that are material. See other thoughts.

Other Thoughts: The velvet sleeve this CPU comes in is a little over-the-top, but so far, so good.

5 out of 5 eggsSolid PSU

This review is from: SeaSonic SS-750KM3 750W ATX12V V2.3/EPS 12V V2.91 SLI Ready 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Full Modular Active PFC Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: Very, quiet, stable, and well-built. Zero issues.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: I build and buy a lot of computers and components, and I am not very brand loyal for most things. In general, any PSU will work fine most of the time for average users. At home, though, I only buy Seasonic. Period. I like to have all of the computers use the same modular cables, and with one kid who is a hardcore PC gamer and one that does a ton of scientific modeling, I just can't deal with down time and instability. I have never had a Seasonic PSU fail, and the small price premium is well worth it for me.

1 out of 5 eggsDead after 3 months

This review is from: SeaSonic SS-750KM3 750W ATX12V V2.3/EPS 12V V2.91 SLI Ready 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Full Modular Active PFC Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: See below

Cons: Dead as a doornail 3 months after purchase. Now I have to pay to send a heavy power supply back to seasonic for replacement. I liked this power supply and I thought with a name like SeaSonic I wouldn't have any issues. Having to tear down your entire rig to remove your power supply is no fun. Hopefully it is replaced in a timely fashion or you will see me update this review with another rant.

Manufacturer Response:

Hi Jason, I am sorry for the inconvenience. We try our best to ensure the best quality but being analog devices, things can fail but we hope our service center has resovled your issue properly. As well, being a modular power supply, you only have to remove the PSU itself by detaching the cables and I hope this reduces some of the work involved. If you have any questions, please contact us at: newegg@seasonicus.com Thank you.

1 out of 5 eggsDOA, Twice!

This review is from: SeaSonic SS-750KM3 750W ATX12V V2.3/EPS 12V V2.91 SLI Ready 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Full Modular Active PFC Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: None, :-(

Cons: The power supply arrived DOA. Everyone has a bad day, so I asked for a replacement. The 2nd power supply arrived DOA. That makes me question their testing procedures. The 3rd power supply came from another manufacturer.

Other Thoughts: Newegg's RMA procedures were outstanding. Two thumbs up.

Manufacturer Response:

Hi Stephen. I am sorry to read of your experience. If your replacement also was not able to boot your system, perhpas it is not the PSU but either the way you installed or there is possibly something wrong in your system? If you have any questions or concerns please contact: newegg@seasonicus.com Thank you.

1 out of 5 eggsFailure in less than 60 Days

This review is from: SeaSonic SS-750KM3 750W ATX12V V2.3/EPS 12V V2.91 SLI Ready 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Full Modular Active PFC Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: Great cable system and a very pretty packaging for the unit.

Cons: Lost the power rail for the Motherboard in approximately 50 days. Currently going through the RMA process on the unit. While unit is out for work I switched back to a 5 year old Thermaltake unit that was solid in my previous computer.

Other Thoughts: Cost to send it back isn't exactly fun given the weight of the unit.

Manufacturer Response:

Hi Ethan,
Sorry for the failure of the unit. We try our best to ensure top quality and we are sorry when this happens. Please visit www.seasonicusa.com and start the RMA process. Thank you. Please write to: newegg@seasonicus.com if you have any questions.

1 out of 5 eggsWarranty EXCLUSIONS! Beware!

This review is from: SeaSonic SS-750KM3 750W ATX12V V2.3/EPS 12V V2.91 SLI Ready 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Full Modular Active PFC Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: Seasonic brandname. Generally thought of as a solid well engineered PSU. Run several of them, was all I would buy for my new PC builds.

Cons: Beware of thier 5 and 7 year warranty. While it will cover the PSU itself, cables are not covered. Buying new cables for your specific device is NOT cheap! Might as well buy a whole brand new one for the cost of a new set of cables. NEVER again will I purchase this garbage, off to EVGA, Antec, or Thermaltake. Maybe they will treat the people who actually buy their products better than this once good company.

Manufacturer Response:

Hi Eugene,
I am sorry to read of your review. Can you please let me know what went wrong with the cables? Sorry, we don't cover user damage but if it was something else such as manufacturering defect, then the cables are covered. Please write to me at newegg@seasonicus.com Thank you.
