5 out of 5 eggsGood PSU

This review is from: SeaSonic X Series X650 Gold ((SS-650KM Active PFC F3)) 650W ATX12V V2.3/EPS 12V V2.91 SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Full Modular Active PFC Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: Good quality build.. Virtually silent..

Cons: None so far. Owned few Corsairs before but decided to go with Seasonic. Got it for $99 from Newegg. Thinking I should've went with the Platinum version for $40 more but oh well

Other Thoughts: I bought it new... Not sure why mine was not shrink wrapped. I remember buying a few Corsairs and could've sworn they were all wrapped in original boxes.. Shouldn't have my box been shrink wrapped? Minor wear-tear on the sides of the box. It works and has a good warranty from Seasonic, so I'm not going to complain but I am a little concerned that's all.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat, quiet PSU

This review is from: SeaSonic X Series X650 Gold ((SS-650KM Active PFC F3)) 650W ATX12V V2.3/EPS 12V V2.91 SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Full Modular Active PFC Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: 650w of 80+ Gold certified power
Can be used in regular or hybrid fan mode
Modular
Lots of cables

Cons: A bit hard to plug in the cables to the PSU itself

Other Thoughts: I had a Corsair PSU that I used for 5+ years, it performed well but I was upgrading and changing cases and I didn't want the PSU to fail and be out a computer for awhile. Also it wasn't modular so there was a lot of ugly cables everywhere. I paid about $105 but it was worth it and I'm happy with the purchase, I run it in hybrid mode and I don't think I've ever heard the fans.

5 out of 5 eggsVery good and well priced

This review is from: SeaSonic X Series X650 Gold ((SS-650KM Active PFC F3)) 650W ATX12V V2.3/EPS 12V V2.91 SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Full Modular Active PFC Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: Modular, Hybrid/Normal switch is cool for different settings, all black cables, and the packaging was so nice that I felt a little spoiled getting just nice packaging

Cons: For the first 3 days there was some super annoying squealing coming from the PSU, especially when I used the wheel on my mouse (I so wish I knew what caused this), but after that it went away, which is what I expected. I figured it would just need a break in period and my hunch was right!

Other Thoughts: Aside from the annoying sounds (quiet yet audible enough to be frustrating), this is a great PSU. I would have been a bit worried if the sounds were persistent but it doesn't happen anymore and just sits there acting like it should. I'm not worried about it dying on me

5 out of 5 eggsGood so far

This review is from: SeaSonic X Series X650 Gold ((SS-650KM Active PFC F3)) 650W ATX12V V2.3/EPS 12V V2.91 SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Full Modular Active PFC Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: Wasn't DOA. Removed 5 year old Corsair TX650 with what seemed like was 10yds of cabling, cleaned out the dust, installed new unit, plugged everything in and it's working fine. Of course it's quiet in hybrid mode. No humming, buzzing or other problems so far.

Cons: None yet.

Other Thoughts: This is the KM3 model as reviewed by JonnyGuru. His only real mark down was the price @ $139. If you can get it for $89 or less, you can't go wrong. I know things fail, but like most electronics, if it works when you plug it in, it'll probably stay working. I doubt I could ever go back to a non modular model.

Cons: None

1 out of 5 eggsDOA

This review is from: SeaSonic X Series X650 Gold ((SS-650KM Active PFC F3)) 650W ATX12V V2.3/EPS 12V V2.91 SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Full Modular Active PFC Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: Looks nice.

Cons: DOA.

Other Thoughts: Doesn't work. MY first Seasonic PSU died after just 5 months and now this one is DOA. Currently waiting on a replacement, will update my rating when I get the next one.

Extremely disappointed in Seasonic thus far. Their RMA is so garbage I gave up and just bought another PSU instead of dealing with them. These are supposed to be the best PSU on the market, not sure if their QC is gone or what.

One a side note, I am currently using an old 600w Rosewill PSU that has been chugging along for 4-5 years without issue.

Manufacturer Response:

Hi Gregory,
I am very sorry to read of your experience. Have you done the RMA via NewEgg or Sea Sonic USA? If there is anything we can do for you, please contact us at newegg@seasonicus.com Thank you and again, sorry for the inconvenience.

5 out of 5 eggsNo Complaints After 18 Months

This review is from: SeaSonic X Series X650 Gold ((SS-650KM Active PFC F3)) 650W ATX12V V2.3/EPS 12V V2.91 SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Full Modular Active PFC Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: Modular
Plenty of Cables
Silent
Very nice included bag for spare cables

Cons: None really. Having only 650W isn't really a con, as I haven't needed close to that threshold

Other Thoughts: Have had in a system with a i5-4670k with a Radeon 7950 and recently a GTX 970. Never ever had a problem, still going strong after 18 months of use. Granted I'm probably not even using 500 of the 650W.

Not much else to say, its dead silent and super reliable

5 out of 5 eggsSeems OK

This review is from: SeaSonic X Series X650 Gold ((SS-650KM Active PFC F3)) 650W ATX12V V2.3/EPS 12V V2.91 SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Full Modular Active PFC Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: Modular
Quiet
Nice modular cables

Cons: None encountered so far.

Other Thoughts: Reading recent reviews, it seems to be a bit random as to whether you'll get a good one or not.

As for me, I bought two (2) of these 2.5 years ago, one of them to replace a Rosewill power supply that had started to behave very strangely in my personal rig.

Both are still going strong 2.5 years later.

I "overbought" when I got the one for my personal rig. Now that I am upgrading to a much more demanding build, I came back here to remind myself what I bought 2.5 years ago; that prompted me to write this review.

It looks like this PSU will do just fine in my new build.

1 out of 5 eggsSeaSonic Grinch

This review is from: SeaSonic X Series X650 Gold ((SS-650KM Active PFC F3)) 650W ATX12V V2.3/EPS 12V V2.91 SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Full Modular Active PFC Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: None so far...I hope my experience helps others.

Cons: One egg is the lowest I could give...Yes I'm a bit jaded right now. My new SeaSonic X Series Gold X650 was dead on arrival. I was building a new PC for a Christmas present. Hooked all the components together and the it powered up and immediately lost power and shut down. All connections were verified, but apparently an internal circuit breaker is tripping. I've tried to make contact with customer service with no luck or response. There is not a phone number you can call to trouble shoot issues with their product. I purchased this PSU based on Seasonic's reputation for quality, but I don't think that is represented in this particular unit. Now I have to go out an purchase a comparable PSU from a local store to finish this project. I'm realistic and understand components fail and that things happen, but isn't there a testing procedure to ensure they work before leaving the factory? Thanks Seasonic.

Manufacturer Response:

Hi Clinton, I am very sorry for the inconvenience this has caused you. Please do know that we try our best to ensure the best quality possible at our factory and we are very sorry to have disappointed you in this matter. As this is a new purchase, please contact NewEgg for RMA support and I am sure they will rectify the issue for you as soon as possible. If you have any issues, please contact me at: newegg@seasonicus.com Thank you and happy holidays

2 out of 5 eggsSo far so good, but still hearing coil whine, noise

This review is from: SeaSonic X Series X650 Gold ((SS-650KM Active PFC F3)) 650W ATX12V V2.3/EPS 12V V2.91 SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Full Modular Active PFC Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: Good design
Modular
Stable

Cons: Having coil whine while playing games(loading scene in Far Cry 4) and running some programs

Other Thoughts: Mine was badly damaged at the corner of the PSU box. All components inside are ok but it made me feel I bought a cheap, used PSU
The newegg box which was covered outside PSU box still good so I think this is not Purolator's fault

Manufacturer Response:

Hi MY H.
For coil whine if you have the issue during gaming, this can very well be due to the VGA card's dymanic load not in compliance to Intel specification and this can cause the PSU to emit coil whine. Possible solution is to use ferrite cores on the VGA power cables. As well, if your unit was received with damage, you should contawct NewEgg for RMA and if that is not possible, then please send an e-mail to me at: newegg@seasonicus.com Please contact me if you have further issues with your power supply. Thank you.
