5 out of 5 eggsPerfect

This review is from: SeaSonic X Series X650 Gold ((SS-650KM Active PFC F3)) 650W ATX12V V2.3/EPS 12V V2.91 SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Full Modular Active PFC Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: Build Quality
Brand
Silence

Cons: Power connectors are a bit confusing at first.

Other Thoughts: The power connectors are a bit confusing to get used to due to how they separated them and labeled them on the unit itself (Motherboard / Motherboard 4/8pin). Consulting the manual for the first install will fix this problem and it will probably never be an issue after that but this is the only problem with the unit thus far.

I purchased this to replace the Corsair HX650 which I had already returned to Corsair due to an issue with it's fan controller, the replacement that they sent me squealed terribly so I ended up buying the X-650 which if I had to guess is the model the HX650 is based on considering the OEM provider for it is SeaSonic.

The X-650 has worked flawlessly thus far with my GTX 760 and now R9 390X with an overclocked 4690K. While monitoring my power draw I'm never over 440w for the whole PC even under benchmark / stress test loads and this power supply has remained silent for all of it.

1 out of 5 eggsNice packaging, poor product

This review is from: SeaSonic X Series X650 Gold ((SS-650KM Active PFC F3)) 650W ATX12V V2.3/EPS 12V V2.91 SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Full Modular Active PFC Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: Nice packaging (now I know why it was expensive), and good amount of cables.

Cons: High pitch noise on day 1 in a new build. I thought it was not that annoying at this time.
After almost 2 months, IT IS annoying.

Manufacturer Response:

Hi Julien, please note the noise can be an issue of MB / PSU compatibiity. Please enable all Energy Saving modes in the BIOS. If this does not resolve your issue, please visit www.seasonicusa.com and start a RMA procedure and we will have the unit tested for you. As well, if the PSU makes the noise during heavy VGA usage, this be attributed to the VGA's dynamic load profile not matching to Intel standards. If you have any issues, please contact us at: newegg@seasonicus.com Thank You.

5 out of 5 eggslasted 3 years so far, still alive and kicking

This review is from: SeaSonic X Series X650 Gold ((SS-650KM Active PFC F3)) 650W ATX12V V2.3/EPS 12V V2.91 SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Full Modular Active PFC Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: bought it in October 2011, still works just fine. keeps quiet and cool, amazing packaging

Cons: only con might really just be me being an idiot somehow, I recently moved my entire build into a new case, whenever I plugged the hdd in my pc wouldn't turn on at all. luckily the power supply comes with some extra cables so I switched them out and everything works fine

3 out of 5 eggsSolid but failed after 2 years.

This review is from: SeaSonic X Series X650 Gold ((SS-650KM Active PFC F3)) 650W ATX12V V2.3/EPS 12V V2.91 SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Full Modular Active PFC Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: Ran quiet for 2 years.
Nice simple pro design and packaging.
Modular and nice cabling.

Cons: Failed, could no longer power my GPU. It appears One of the PCI-E modular cables had melted into the PSU.

4 out of 5 eggsGood so far, but...

This review is from: SeaSonic X Series X650 Gold ((SS-650KM Active PFC F3)) 650W ATX12V V2.3/EPS 12V V2.91 SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Full Modular Active PFC Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: Modular, with a lot of connectors. Quiet. Efficient.

Cons: I wish the cables were a little longer and with a little more space between the drive connectors:

1. The PSU is mounted in the bottom of my large tower case, and the server motherboard has the 24-pin and 8-pin connectors along the top edge, just too far away for me to bring the 24-pin cable up the back of the MB mounting plate and through the adjacent cutout: I have to use an extender if I don't want to run the cable in front of /on top of the motherboard and perhaps block needed airflow.

2. The Molex and SATA connectors are just too close together to allow one to connect to each of my iStarUSA drive cages: I can use only alternate connectors.

2 out of 5 eggsCoil Whine

This review is from: SeaSonic X Series X650 Gold ((SS-650KM Active PFC F3)) 650W ATX12V V2.3/EPS 12V V2.91 SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Full Modular Active PFC Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: Great packaging, quiet fans, compact modular design, stable power.

Cons: Has had a distinct and noticeable intermittent coil whine since day one. I even went through the trouble of RMA with newegg to see if I got a bad unit but got the same results with the replacement.

Manufacturer Response:

Hi Joseph, Sorry for the inconvenience. Please note the coil whine can be an issue of the MB and or the VGA in combination with the PSU. It is best is you can activate all energy saving modes in the BIOS, this might help. Please write to me at newegg@seasoniceu.com and we can try to help resolve the issue for you. But it might not be a PSU issue.

5 out of 5 eggsFlawless

This review is from: SeaSonic X Series X650 Gold ((SS-650KM Active PFC F3)) 650W ATX12V V2.3/EPS 12V V2.91 SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Full Modular Active PFC Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: 0db, dead silent, high performance, great flex to the modular cables (usually modular cables are stiff), velvet bag

Cons: the velvet bag

Other Thoughts: Who bags a psu in a velvet bag? i guess the answer is seasonic. Frankly this is both the most hilariously awesome corny and lame add-on to a power supply I've ever seen. No clue what to do with it now that i have one. but it was sorta wild to pull the psu out of it in the first place. definitely a picture i emailed around a bit. Anyway now that i've wasted your time let me lay this out there

this is the best psu i've ever owned.

2 out of 5 eggsWell, it wasn't DOA at least

This review is from: SeaSonic X Series X650 Gold ((SS-650KM Active PFC F3)) 650W ATX12V V2.3/EPS 12V V2.91 SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Full Modular Active PFC Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: it works

Cons: - When it powers on for the first 2 minutes it makes a screeching noise that eventually fades away. It does this in normal and hybrid mode. and is completely unacceptable.
- The connectors don't click into place. they just sort of push in and don't seem fully secure. Is it plugged in or not? I dunno, let's turn it on and see...

Other Thoughts: Gonna RMA and go with a Corsair.

Manufacturer Response:

Hi Brodie, I am sorry to read of your issue and I hope the RMA process works out well for you. If you have any questions or concerns, please let me know at newegg@seasonicus.com Thank You
