This review is from: SeaSonic M12II 620 Bronze 620W ATX12V V2.3 / EPS 12V V2.91 SLI Ready 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Full Modular Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: Excellent product; Affordable price

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: First time trying this brand, but I am impressed with the design and quality of this product. I really like how the wires have plugs on both end, so you only attach the ones you need.

1 out of 5 eggsUpside down printing.

This review is from: SeaSonic M12II 620 Bronze 620W ATX12V V2.3 / EPS 12V V2.91 SLI Ready 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Full Modular Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: I have no opinion as to pros as I have not had the unit long enough to evaluate the pros.

Cons: The new version of this unit (ss-620gm2) will mount will all labeling upside down, if you are putting this in horizontal in an ATX case (whereby the orientation is as such, that the plug is on the left). What a drag - the prior version (ss-620gm) did not have this issue.

Manufacturer Response:

Hi Avram, the orientation of the sticker should still be the same. Can I trouble you to please take some photos for us of the PSU and how it is positioned in your system for verification. Please send to: newegg@seasonicus.com Thank you.

5 out of 5 eggs

This review is from: SeaSonic M12II 620 Bronze 620W ATX12V V2.3 / EPS 12V V2.91 SLI Ready 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Full Modular Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: *NOTE* Newegg needs to update their product images, they show a partial-modular PSU, but it as a full-modular unit. It also has ribbon style cables instead of the normal bound/bundle round cables.

So very quiet, easy install, nice heavy cables don't feel like they will fall apart, cables are ribbon style, makes things look much neater. Long cables for easier cable management. Nice and heavy, doesn't feel cheap or underpowered.

Cons: I love the ribbon cables, but they might not work so well for those that have tighter spaces as they aren't as easy to bend side to side.

I use an Antec900 case and it has no cable management, so it took a bit of work to hide them the best I could and make everything neat.

Other Thoughts: Depending on when you order this, you might have an updated model, Newegg seems to have a new version of this PSU than what they show in the images. I was greeted with the full-modular version when I opened the box and happily accepted it. I'm not down-voting for this since I would rather have the full-modular version anyways. The pictured PSU shows less plugs for cables to plug into and the motherboard/CPU cables not removable. However, I looked through the image of what cables come with the PSU and while the style is different, you do still get all the same plugs.

I'm upgrading from a 5 year old, 500w Cooler Master on a custom rig with an i5 3570k, GTX460, ASUS P8Z77-v, 8gigs G.Skill RAM, 3 Cougar fans, and an aftermarket Cooler Master TX3 CPU cooler.

I'm sure 620w is a bit overkill, but in the past year, my other PSU's fan would run high when playing games and I read that could mean a failing PSU or it's overloaded, though I shouldn't need more than 420w (give or take). The price was right, got this for a cool $70 (with free shipping), so I jumped all over it! It'll be nice knowing I have extra wattage in the future when I go looking for a new video card.

I have read that people have issues with cables coming off, I found that some of the connectors click in very tight, you have to make sure they are pushed in all the way. My Video card cables were like this, I had to really push them in to make sure they clicked and held tight. Not really a con, but just something to watch for when you're plugging things in.

It also came with this nifty little drawstring satchel that the cables were all bundled into, I'm currently using it to store the new automotive upholstery tools I just bought :P

5 out of 5 eggsModularity is king

This review is from: SeaSonic M12II 620 Bronze 620W ATX12V V2.3 / EPS 12V V2.91 SLI Ready 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Full Modular Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: Fully-modular!

The best feature of this power supply is that each cord can be detached from the power supply when not needed. This keeps your case free and clear of unnecessary clutter, which improves airflow and in turn cooling.

So far, this power supply has been nearly silent, too; I can't hear a peep out of it.

SeaSonic even includes a black drawstring bag in which to keep the unused connectors, which bears the SeaSonic logo. The bag is nothing fancy, but this is a thoughtful gesture nonetheless, as it keeps the unused connectors organized and separate from other items in your computer-junk-drawer.

The handsome, matte-black finish is the icing on the cake. A very nice unit, indeed!

Cons: None so far.

5 out of 5 eggsSolid and Quiet Value

This review is from: SeaSonic M12II 620 Bronze 620W ATX12V V2.3 / EPS 12V V2.91 SLI Ready 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Full Modular Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: - Very quiet in my application.
- Impressive fit and finish.
- Built like a tank with quality parts.
- Fully modular, not semi-modular.
- Good for HTPC, Media Center PC.
- Flat black color is attractive in most any case build.

Cons: Whether or not it's true, it has been reported that this PSU does not support the latest energy-saving features implemented in the latest Haswell-series Intel CPU's. With that said, my build employs a Core i7-3770 and this PSU functions perfectly with all the energy saving features it has. And I checked to make sure before writing this review.

Other Thoughts: This PSU is currently replaces the 280W LiteOn PSU in a Lenovo H520 Desktop. Since this PSU is larger than the one it replaces, it was a tight fit. It helps immeasurably if you insert the cables you'll need into the PSU BEFORE installing if you have limited rear clearance in your case.
Next month, I will be moving all the innards into a Fractal Design R4 Silent Case as it is used exclusively as a JRiver Media Center/HTPC. I am planning to add dual pairs of Seagate 2TB NAS drives in RAID 1 pairs using an external controller card which this PSU should handle without breaking a sweat. Well, that's unless I go completely bonkers with upgrade fever and swap out the current Lenovo mobo with an ASRock H77M mobo that has on-board RAID and would also allow me to increase the RAM past the Lenovo board's 8GB RAM limit. Would likely spring for a small SSD for the OS and apps as well as invest in a better CPU cooler while I'm at it. It never ends, does it?

5 out of 5 eggsGreat so far

This review is from: SeaSonic M12II 620 Bronze 620W ATX12V V2.3 / EPS 12V V2.91 SLI Ready 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Full Modular Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: I bought this to replace some no name peice of 450 watt junk that came pre installed in my gaming rig.
This is my first install of a psu and it was really easy and took less than 10 minutes, despite not having much for instructions included in the box. Its a nice looking peice of hardware, all black cables and cable sleeve and fully modular it looks great in my case. Fan runs quite and never hear so much as a whine under load. Really happy with this purchase.

Cons: no cons yet

Other Thoughts: Not much for instructions included with the psu, so if your a noob like me, do a bit of research online first. As i was uninstalling my old psu i took note of what plugs go where and how many pins per plug and hooked up the new psu accordingly. It was easier than i thought it would be.
