5 out of 5 eggs

This review is from: SeaSonic S12II 620 Bronze 620W ATX12V V2.3 / EPS 12V V2.91 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: Still running:
Installed around 2012-11 (November 2012),
Still running as of 2015-05 (May 2015).

SeaSonic S12II 620 Bronze

Cons: None in almost 3 years and counting.
If there are, I will certainly update this review.

Other Thoughts: They were still using colored cables when I purchased it,
and now appear to use black wiring on all models now.
Cosmetic only, no actual functional meaning.

This review is from: SeaSonic S12II 620 Bronze 620W ATX12V V2.3 / EPS 12V V2.91 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: -Well priced
-It powers my computer

Cons: -Extremely Loud

Other Thoughts: After spending money changing my gpu and cpu coolers, (I assumed those were making all the noise.) Turns out it was my Seasonic PSU. This power supply is so loud that I stopped playing intense games like BF4, Crysis 3 etc. and only play older games now.

If you plan on doing intense gaming and noise is a factor I suggest you save your time and money.

Manufacturer Response:

Hi Kenneth, I am very sorry about your experience with our product. The S12II-620 is with fan control and if you push the until to full load, then the fan will go to max rotation to cool the PSU. As well, you alos will need good ventilation in your system to remove the warm air. If you wish, please visit www.seasonicusa.com and start the RMA process so the unit can be tested for compliance. If you have any questions, please write to: newegg@seasonicus.com Thank you.

5 out of 5 eggsI really like it so far

This review is from: SeaSonic S12II 620 Bronze 620W ATX12V V2.3 / EPS 12V V2.91 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: The main pro is that it is dead silent. I can't hear it over my case fans and they are silent fans also. I have it bottom mounted and it was easy to install.

Cons: None so far

Other Thoughts: It is not modular. However, I am a lazy builder and lose parts I don't need sometimes. Then, when I mod a build, I go looking for things and can't find them. I can't do that with this PSU. Everything is there. You just need a case that allows you to hide the cables and it is fine.

3 out of 5 eggsDoes the job.

This review is from: SeaSonic S12II 620 Bronze 620W ATX12V V2.3 / EPS 12V V2.91 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: Does the job.
Not loud.
Reliable

Cons: NON-MODULAR

Other Thoughts: If you care about airflow and the clutter inside your case, especially if you have a window. The rats nest of unused cable in the bottom of your case I personally hate. I wish I had gotten a modular power supply.

Manufacturer Response:

Hi Seth, I am sorry you are disappointed by the power supply being non-mondular but it is, afterall, marketed and sold as a non-modular PSU. If you wish to have a modular PSU, please consider our M12II, X, P or FL series power supplies. Thank you.

2 out of 5 eggsOne year and done.

This review is from: SeaSonic S12II 620 Bronze 620W ATX12V V2.3 / EPS 12V V2.91 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: Good solid power supply that was reliable.

Cons: Only lasted for a year and now it clicks and clacks likes like a train going downhill.

Other Thoughts: Really disappointed with Seasonic given their reputation, and frustrated with the rma process. Its almost not worth the roll of the dice on the rma when I could buy a new psu from a different company.

Manufacturer Response:

Hi Andrew, I am sorry about your experience with our power supply. The noise can be a wire touching the fan blade. You mentioned you were frustrated with the RMA process? Did you do the RMA direct with Sea Sonic USA? The proecss is fairly simple and straight forward. Please visit www.seasonicusa.com and start the RMA procedure. If you have any difficulties, please contact us at: newegg@seasonicus.com Thank you.

5 out of 5 eggsPerforms as expected

This review is from: SeaSonic S12II 620 Bronze 620W ATX12V V2.3 / EPS 12V V2.91 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: Easy install, cables are a bit much but hey, if you wanted a power supply with modular cables, you'd be looking there. Beside that, works like a charm.

Cons: Non-modular, but minor

Other Thoughts: Great, no problems running my system at even the highest capacity.

5 out of 5 eggsS12II 620w

This review is from: SeaSonic S12II 620 Bronze 620W ATX12V V2.3 / EPS 12V V2.91 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: 620w that can power two HD 7850's in Crossfire. (the reason i bought it)
One of the best power supplies in this price range.
I was considering this or a few others that were higher wattage, but I am happy for choosing this ones quality over higher wattage.

I don't have to worry about my PC blowing up...

Cons: paint chipped easily.... :( so there is a quarter size area of silver in an all black case and motherboard...

Other Thoughts: doesn't make toast like my last PSU

5 out of 5 eggsAmazing so far

This review is from: SeaSonic S12II 620 Bronze 620W ATX12V V2.3 / EPS 12V V2.91 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: Lots of power for a single video card equipped rig, runs my GTX 770 + i7 3770 no sweat. It's pretty quiet too and doesn't put out quite as much heat as my previous 500w PSU. Seems very solidly built with lots of individually sleeved cables.

5 year warranty!

Cons: Nothing really except the obvious facts that it's not modular, nor is it 80-Plus Gold or better

Other Thoughts: Purchased this as an upgrade from an old Antec 500w Earthwatts that was running a bit hotter and louder than I'd like.

4 out of 5 eggs

This review is from: SeaSonic S12II 620 Bronze 620W ATX12V V2.3 / EPS 12V V2.91 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: Great all around

Cons: My only complaint is that the power supply cords are not removable. The unused plugs just take up precious space inside my case and restrict air flow. Not to mention it was hard to enough to even find a way to stow them, and my tower isn't small...

Other Thoughts: I'd definitely get a PSU with removable cords next time. Lesson learned

1 out of 5 eggswas good until it died after 2 years

This review is from: SeaSonic S12II 620 Bronze 620W ATX12V V2.3 / EPS 12V V2.91 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: -worked well for 2 years

Cons: -died after 2 years
-sent in under warranty, new one died within a few hours of use

Other Thoughts: This unit worked perfectly for almost exactly 2 years, then one day it would not display graphics on the monitor and the computer would not respond. I tore down the computer and discovered by process of elimination that the power supply was at fault. It was no longer supplying sufficient power to the motherboard or CPU. I sent it in under warranty (paid $12 to ship it) and in a few weeks I got back another PSU in the mail from the company. I installed the new unit into my computer which was functioning perfectly on an older PSU I had swapped in from a different computer. My computer booted but ran slowly and had some graphical glitches, after about an hour it blue screened. I made sure everything was connected properly and tried it again, same thing. Swapped in the old PSU from the other computer and once again it worked perfectly. Have been trying to contact the manufacturer but have not received a response. I will never buy another Seasonic PSU.

Manufacturer Response:

Hi Ari,
Sorry to read of your experience. Normally speaking, blue screen is more related to the MB & VGA than the PSU. Can you please send an e-mail to me at newegg@seasonicus.com with your RMA number and we will trace and see what has happened. The replacement units are all tested for compliance and performance before shipping. As well, please let me know how you have contacted our USA office and I will do a trace on that as well. Thank you.
