1 out of 5 eggsHave seen 33% DOA rate on these

This review is from: SeaSonic Platinum Series SS-400FL2 Active PFC F3 400W ATX12V Fanless 80 PLUS Platinum Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: Good specifications

Cons: I have ordered 6 of these. All worked at the beginning. However, 2 of the 6 failed by about the third or fourth time they were power cycled. We saw a small spark inside the power supply and an electrical smell. The motherboard was not damaged. The failures happened in supplies ordered and installed a month apart in time.

Other Thoughts: I will not order any more.

4 out of 5 eggsWorks great

This review is from: SeaSonic Platinum Series SS-400FL2 Active PFC F3 400W ATX12V Fanless 80 PLUS Platinum Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: Fanless, obviously, so operating noise is very low. Modular cables let you plug in just the cables you need. Black box looks nice in my caseless home theater and gaming PC.

Cons: Cables provided are fairly limited. I still had to use a couple of adapters to get everything powered in my rig. The electronics will start buzzing sometimes. Loud enough to bother me over the movie or TV show I'm watching.

2 out of 5 eggsShort life

This review is from: SeaSonic Platinum Series SS-400FL2 Active PFC F3 400W ATX12V Fanless 80 PLUS Platinum Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: Unbelievable packaging - felt bag and all
Totally silent
No hums or buzzes

Cons: Died shortly after install

Other Thoughts: It was probably a fluke but I didn't want to waste time trying another one.
Newegg handled the return and refund with a bit of complication. All worked out well in the end, added an egg for their service.
Researching a different quite PS. Will most likely buy from Newegg.

Manufacturer Response:

Hi Lee,

I'm very sorry for what happened to you with our power supply. We always try our best to avoid such situation because we know how unconvenient it is to have a failing PSU. I may suggest you to give a try again and I'm sure you will be satisfied.
Thank you and have a nice day.

1 out of 5 eggsFaulty power plug receptacle, failed after 4 years

This review is from: SeaSonic Platinum Series SS-400FL2 Active PFC F3 400W ATX12V Fanless 80 PLUS Platinum Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: Almost silent (whines at high pitch)

Cons: Low quality parts, such as the power socket receptacle, which is loose

Other Thoughts: Would not recommend, would not buy again, have to pay my own RMA costs in Australia

Manufacturer Response:

Hello,

Sorry to hear your problem with our product. You can claim a RMA for your product and we will gladly check your PSU and exchange it if needed. Kindly send an email to: support@seasonic.com
Thank you and have a nice day.

5 out of 5 eggsA Rare, Perfect Product

This review is from: SeaSonic Platinum Series SS-400FL2 Active PFC F3 400W ATX12V Fanless 80 PLUS Platinum Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: -Completely silent
-Runs very cool
-Not overly big
-Astounding, consistent, quality power
-Fully modular
-7 Year Warranty!
-Platinum efficiency
-Velvet bag

Cons: -Nada

Other Thoughts: It's the rare perfect product. If you bought this power supply, at probably a premium, then you already know that SeaSonic are known for producing among the best - if not the best - power supplies in the world. Not much else to say. Every independent reviewer is amazed by the quality.

I debated adding this as a "Con", but you must be aware of the mounting restrictions imposed by SeaSonic: it must be mounted in only one orientation, effectively "face up".

There are a fair number of cases where the fan grill would be pointed downward, and thus these fanless models would not be good candidates.

5 out of 5 eggs

This review is from: SeaSonic Platinum Series SS-400FL2 Active PFC F3 400W ATX12V Fanless 80 PLUS Platinum Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: Very quiet (obviously) but I also do not here any type of hum or other sound from it

Cons: I particularly do not like the SATA cables, which would be fine for vertically stack disk...but not so much for horizontal placements. Not enough to crack an egg though.

5 out of 5 eggsPerfect for HTPC

This review is from: SeaSonic Platinum Series SS-400FL2 Active PFC F3 400W ATX12V Fanless 80 PLUS Platinum Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: Completely silent and very cool.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: This runs my Haswell based HTPC in a LianLi PC-C50 case with a 5 disk setup, two SSD and 3x 7200rpm drives and 4 120mm fans along with the InfinitTV 6. Plenty of power available for this setup making it the perfect PS for HTPC.

3 out of 5 eggsNinja quiet until it died

This review is from: SeaSonic Platinum Series SS-400FL2 Active PFC F3 400W ATX12V Fanless 80 PLUS Platinum Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: Great packing materials, worked exactly as advertised for 3 months of very light duty. Perfectly quiet and well built. I really liked it and would have given it 5 eggs if it hadn't died so very quickly.

Cons: Died with a loud "Pop!" after a little more than 3 months of very light duty (used mostly on weekends). I expected better of such a premium unit, but the 7 year warranty will help. Just hope the next one doesn't die after a few months.

Manufacturer Response:

Hi Robert, we are very sorry for the inconvenience this has caused you. Please visit www.seasonicusa.com and please start the RMA process and they will take care of your issue as soon as possible. Thank you.
