4 out of 5 eggsGood PSU but...

Pros: The product is well built on the inside.

Cons: I got an issue with the modular connections. My pc started crashing and I had no idea what the problem was. I never got dump files. After a painful 4-6 months I fiddled around with the PSU while the pc was on and found out that one of the wire connections was causing the pc to crash. I unplugged and plugged the wire back in and the problem went away. But

4 out of 5 eggsExcellent PSU with minor, minor gripes

Pros: The great part of this PSU is that it comes as fully modular, and this is fantastic when it comes to cable management. Similarly, not only is the efficiency of the PSU is incredible (80+ Plat!) but it provides incredible stability in voltage as well, even under high stress. (For those who do not know, this stability in voltage increases the longevity of your pieces inside your rig, such as GPU, CPU, etc.)

Silence. The Seasonic Platinum 1000W is one of the most silent PSUs I have ever used, even under high load. Also, this PSU includes a "hybrid" mode which will even turn off the fan in the PSU if your rig does not consume much power. Excellent call by Seasonic to include this feature.

Cons: There cables, though very strong and durable, are hard to bend at times initially. Though with good force it is able to be re-bent, the coils that the cables come in are very difficult to get rid of.

Though these two problems are not at all deal breakers,
For me, the cable used to connect the PSU to the main motherboard seemed to be coiled incorrectly from the factory, making it difficult to actually attach to the PSU without force. (This may not be a problem for others).

The price. While it is especially evident that Seasonic took pains to make an incredible PSU, $230 is a little steep in comparison to other 1000W PSUs. Keep in mind though that other 1000W PSUs may not be 80+ Platinum
Certified.

These problems are not at all deal breakers, but certainly something something to keep in mind.

Other Thoughts: I've had this PSU for just over a month now, and I am completely satisfied with it.

1 out of 5 eggsFool me once shame on you...

Pros: Looks nice, had great reviews on all the tech forums, gaming forums, Seasonic is known for good products 80+

Cons: Had this for about a year and about 4 months ago I would come home to occasionally find my computer off and could find nothing incriminating in system logs.

Yesterday I came home to find it would not turn back on. I was getting a quarter turn from CPU fan and nothing more. I drove to local tiger-direct to get a cheapo PSU to test and still didn't work until I found out that one of the sticks of RAM was also bad.

After removing the bad RAM, test the Seasonic again...no juice. Not sure what happened, had a surge protecter and no indication (no blinking microwave clock) that the power had gone out or fluc'td.

In any case I got this when it first came out and the only reviews were good ones. Now it appears as if I am not alone, but I have fears that even if this is replaced, it may just be a bad design and fail again.

Wish me luck.

Other Thoughts: All PRO reviews of this product led me to believe it was superior. While I work in the IT business, this was my first build and so I looked for advice on the interwebs and from friends.

The consensus was that PSU was one of if not THE MOST important part to not skimp on and that Seasonic was one of if not THE MOST dependable among them...this experience has scared the heck out of me.

My build was almost 2K and even a surge protector and $300 PSU cannot protect my investment.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent

Pros: Everything about this unit is quality. Absolutely no detail, technical, practical, aesthetic, or otherwise does not scream quality. Effectively silent, extremely solid voltage regulation, no coil whine such as sometimes found in the x750, and overall just an exceptional unit even for Seasonic. It is beautiful.

Cons: Not a single dang thing. The obnoxious level of quality is properly priced, though occasional sale is quite wonderful. This power supply is absolute perfection. Without fault. Why are you reading this? Buy it already!

Other Thoughts: This is THE power supply to purchase when you wish the best on all accounts over price concerns. Seasonic sets the bar for quality. Check out the HardOCP inspection and review of the unit to see how it performs under extremely intensive testing if my ramblings here fail to sway you. They are spot on.

1 out of 5 eggsGood? Bad? Ugly.

Pros: Sounds like a good PSU

Cons: Isn't a good PSU. Has voltage and power issues and causing my system to FAIL. With an ASUS Maximum V, I shouldn't be worried about instability. It tells me, "You have a bad power supply". Luckily I chose the right motherboard!

4 out of 5 eggsLong term update

Pros: This one works great

Quiet! (Especially in hybrid mode, of course)

Long cables and plenty of them.

Cons: Distance between SATA plugs a bit long. Makes daisychaining a single cord difficult if your drives are spaced closely together.

A few sleeves were frayed when it was delivered.

Other Thoughts: I hope Seasonic has fixed their Quality Control because I was not the only person to have to return this specific model for another one. I bought my first a year ago and it worked for a whole 2 hours. This one has stood the test of time powering this particular computer for days on end, going to and from lan parties, and done it all like a champ.

4 out of 5 eggsSecond one works great

Pros: I purchased in June of last year (2012), newegg sent the product in it's great packaging like always (+1 egg).

PSU has easy to read labeling for the modular hookups, and enough PCIE hookups for dual cards. (+1 egg).

It comes with plenty of zip ties and Velcro straps for reducing clutter (+1 egg).

Love the hybrid mode, and the fan is extremely quiet, yet still provides a lot of air circulation to the case. (+1 egg).

Black mesh surrounding all chords so it looks nice in my case.

Cons: Plugged it in, everything was working for about an hour (enough to install OS, and initial drivers). As soon as I started on graphics drivers *POP-POP*. Power shuts off, smoke comes out. No fire thankfully, but I had blown either a relay or a resistor (I couldn't get a good look at it). (minus many eggs).

Other Thoughts: So, because I decided to use it 8 months after I bought it, I had to RMA through the manufacturer. The website isn't too clear on what to do, so I called the company's RMA department, no answer. So I called the companies sales department and asked for the manager of the RMA department, got his e-mail... and started the process.

Only had to send the PSU, no chords back (thank goodness you don't have to undo all the wiring in your case). I sent the package via snail-mail on a Saturday, received a confirmation email of receipt, and delivery, and received the package 10 days after initial shipment (much faster than I expected). This one has been working now for 4 hours.. I expect it to continue for some time.

Lastly, as mentioned in other reviews, it's a nice bag to hold all the chords, but I feel it's kinda silly and a waste. I just plugged in all the chords I expected to use for upgrades and left them hidden behind the mobo out of sight. But, I know where the chords are if I ever need them.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Delivers on all of its features. 80 Plus Platinum.

Cons: Cables are a little stiff but manageable.

Other Thoughts: Had no issues with cable length installing in Corsair 600T case with Asus P8 Z77-V Pro.
