1 out of 5 eggsNot a seasonic fan, anymore.

This review is from: SeaSonic Platinum-1000 1000W ATX12V / EPS12V 80 PLUS PLATINUM Certified Full Modular Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: Great warranty. But the point of warranties is never having to use them, which is a total pain.

Cons: Whatever computer I connected this to, it would reboot after an hour or so. Finally, when I determined that it could be nothing but the power supply causing this problem, I went to pack it up for the RMA, since I already knew it was bad. Some PCI-e cables had melted and fused inside the unit. A friend of mine has had this problem too, so I cannot imagine that seasonic doesn't know about it, yet continues to make cables with plastic that cannot stand the heat from use, not abuse. Melting plastic and power supplies is a FIRE HAZARD.

Other Thoughts: I had purchased a few of these with the intent of purchasing more if they worked out. They simply didn't work out, and now I'm going to have to find a single rail power supply for proper use, just like I put this one to, where I don't risk burning my house down. I have had power supplies light up before. I'm glad the Seasonic did not do that, but who knows, if it had not notified me of the problem with other failure. I replaced it with a cheapo, for now, and the cheapo is working absolutely fine and the computer is never turning off and rebooting incorrectly, in place of the allegedly more powerful and certainly more expensive seasonic unit. I'm bummed, as I really wanted this to work out.

5 out of 5 eggsA GREAT PSU

This review is from: SeaSonic Platinum-1000 1000W ATX12V / EPS12V 80 PLUS PLATINUM Certified Full Modular Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: Reliable
Quality Parts and Build
SeaSonic Cust. Service
Diff. Cooling options via Hybrid Mode
Plenty of Cabling Options
Steady Power Rails

Cons: The first unit I received had a faulty transistor that made a very annoying sound. (Which could have been from a shipping and handling issue) That was promptly replaced but I forgot to update my initial review :(

The Second unit I've had going on 3 years now and has been superb.

Other Thoughts: PRICEY! But, you get what you pay for and a PSU that lasts and keeps its end of the bargain with steady power rails is worth it imo.

It's handled everything I've thrown at it.

1 out of 5 eggsWOW NEWEGG [DOA]

This review is from: SeaSonic Platinum-1000 1000W ATX12V / EPS12V 80 PLUS PLATINUM Certified Full Modular Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: IM SURE IT WORKS GREAT IN THEORY

Cons: I ordered this PSU 2 weeks ago. The first one arrived, installed and turned on ready to begin my journey mining altcoins.
But it didn't work. I RMA'd and NewEgg sent a new one in a timely fashion (thank you.) Except THIS ONE DIDN'T WORK EITHER!

This second PSU upon closer inspection looked to be refurbished or something. Globs of adhesive stuck to coils in inappropriate places, a piece of tape stuck to one of the intererior fan blades, and I didn't even open it up to see what was really wrong.

Two DOA PSU's. Same model. I'm doubting Seasonic and Newegg currently.

TAKE HEED!

5 out of 5 eggsHigh Quality PSU

This review is from: SeaSonic Platinum-1000 1000W ATX12V / EPS12V 80 PLUS PLATINUM Certified Full Modular Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: High power, High Quality, tons of mod cables to power anything you could possibly need. I am running 2 overclocked extremely power hungry gpus in sli with no issues at all. Its quiet and barley gets warm while using aprox 825 of the 1000 available watts.... Very Impressed!!

Cons: None at all when I bought it for $279, however now I see the price has been raised to $400ish

Other Thoughts: This is a Platinum psu with a incredible 7 year warranty. should justify the recent price hike over time with electric bill saveings and the fact at min this psu should work 7 years or get replaced for free...

3 out of 5 eggsSomething melted...

This review is from: SeaSonic Platinum-1000 1000W ATX12V / EPS12V 80 PLUS PLATINUM Certified Full Modular Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: Worked like a charm for 2 years, more than enough power to run everything I threw at it. Very quiet.

Cons: Something melted inside. Not really sure what, but some piece of plastic melted and got everywhere. Now it posts, boots up, but overheats and shuts down after about a minute in. About to test the RMA process.

Manufacturer Response:

Sorry for the situation but I hope our RMA process has resovled your issue. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact us at: newegg@seasonicusa.com Thank you.

5 out of 5 eggsVery nice

This review is from: SeaSonic Platinum-1000 1000W ATX12V / EPS12V 80 PLUS PLATINUM Certified Full Modular Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: A modular power supply is such a nice thing to have and this brand was recommended by friends. Plenty of options with drive cables of different lengths to make hooking up equipment nice and easy.
The added velcro cable wraps was a nice touch. Definitely not a "throw away" add-on like a lot of hardware ships with.

First power supply ever that did not feel like a space heater.

Cons: None.

5 out of 5 eggsPSU is AOK

This review is from: SeaSonic Platinum-1000 1000W ATX12V / EPS12V 80 PLUS PLATINUM Certified Full Modular Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: Plenty of power and plenty of room for upgrading.
Came with all the cables
Very Quiet

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Cables really stiff, might want to unbundle them all and let them relax for a day to make them easier to route inside your system. But black on the wires hides them well.

5 out of 5 eggsIts good

This review is from: SeaSonic Platinum-1000 1000W ATX12V / EPS12V 80 PLUS PLATINUM Certified Full Modular Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: Very stable.
Supports Haswell CPU
Can set the fan to be automatic, or on always

Cons: Expensive, but you get what you pay for.

Other Thoughts: I'm still using a Asus P6T Deluxe Motherboard. I've built my systems for many years and got away from an Ultra 850W power supply. When you build a system, its always good to build it for future upgradability. So far, so good its working great. Now just need a new Motherboard with the Haswell chip (when prices drop lower.) This is the main reason I bought this power supply. Never skimp on a power supply as it is your engine that powers your motherboard. I made that mistake with the Ultra 850W. Its funny how everyone is an expert on computers here. Trust only thorough reviews, not works great, good, or any one liners. If you post a review it helps to be somewhat detailed.
