4 out of 5 eggsBest Bang for the Buck

This review is from: SeaSonic M12II 850 SS-850AM 850W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Full-Modular Active PFC FULL-modular Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: The power supply looks very nice and with a mostly black exterior, minus some stickers and logos, it’s most likely going to match most builds. It is fully modular with all black cables, so no rainbow wires will atrociously ruin the aesthetic of any build. The cables are both durable and easily flexible. It’s a very rugged power supply that lives up to powering high end multi-gpu builds. I used this for a dual GTX 780 build with an overclocked i5 and it never skipped a beat or even ramped up the fan. I wish a separate set of individual 8 pin and 6 pin pci cables were included so graphics cards that don’t utilize more than two 8 pin cables will not have extra unused connectors hanging off the card. However, most PSU’s don’t include this so it’s no reason to consider it a con. There are always cable extensions to fix this

Cons: As for a functional con, the only one for me is the sound level of the fan. To make this clear, the fan is NOT loud. As a matter of fact it is actually rather quiet. I have measured it to be around 30 decibels at idle. This is more than Seasonics claim of the fan not going above 25 decibels. However, as stated before, even with two gtx 780’s the fan never ramped up. So it remained at the same level from idle through full load of my system.

Other Thoughts: All in all, a very good PSU for the price that is very much above average. I don’t think you will find anything better for any less from a reputable company like Seasonic. I give it a solid “B+”. I would give it an “A” if the fan was closer to complete silence, but that’s relative and subjective to the user’s personal level of sound tolerance, preference, and opinion on silence.

5 out of 5 eggsM12II

This review is from: SeaSonic M12II 850 SS-850AM 850W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Full-Modular Active PFC FULL-modular Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: Its seasonic. All fantastic quality components used. Build quality is outstanding. Cables are solid black with no colored wires to see on the 24-pin cable. Nice and clean.

Cons: I didnt knock an egg off for this, but i didnt like the dual 8-pin GPU connectors. I used a single card in my system and this cable just made it look junky. Just a minor complaint. Most who get this kind of PSU will have dual GPU's which would have been just fine.

Other Thoughts: None. Really like seasonic and this is just another great product in their lineup.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome!

This review is from: SeaSonic M12II 850 SS-850AM 850W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Full-Modular Active PFC FULL-modular Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: Awesome unit, very nice packaging!
Works great and I have plenty of power to spare!
Comes with cool bag and is FULLY modular!
Has not blown up yet!

Cons: Has a bogus orange specification sticker... For those of us with windowed cases it's a bit ghastly.

Other Thoughts: SeaSonic seems to make the best power supply hands down.

2 out of 5 eggsNice while it lasted

This review is from: SeaSonic M12II 850 SS-850AM 850W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Full-Modular Active PFC FULL-modular Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: Nice and quiet
Modular

Cons: Died after 1.5 years

Other Thoughts: It was my media pc/server which is on 24/7 so I guess it is not a huge surprise it died but I would have thought it would have lasted over 2 years. I am RMAing it right now.

Manufacturer Response:

Hi Mike,
I am very sorry for the inconvenience of the failed unit. Please start the RMA with our USA office at www.seasonicus.com and they will take care of it for you immediately. Thank you.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Unit

This review is from: SeaSonic M12II 850 SS-850AM 850W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Full-Modular Active PFC FULL-modular Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: This unit has performed beautifully so far, I do notice an increase in electricity from my PC Power and Cooling 630-680w max unit that performed perfectly for 6 years of overclocking and strain, I upgraded only because components can only take so much. This is a SEA-SONIC and has lived up to its name so far (13 months). Quiet, Powerful, well built and a 5yr warranty for the $99 i got it for makes this an UN-rivaled purchase.

Cons: None as of yet..

Other Thoughts: You will not be disappointed your searching ends here. Get a Full-Modular unit from this company, or a PC Power and Cooling, 850w is most likely the most you will ever need, I could get away with a 750w easily but it's better to get one a little bigger because it uses the power range in the middle more efficiently. (using actual 500w with a 850w unit keeps it in the proper zone). If you have a little more to spend I would purchase the gold or platinum version of this to get a little more efficient for the electric bill, enjoy!

5 out of 5 eggsSeaSonic M12II 850w Modular PSU

This review is from: SeaSonic M12II 850 SS-850AM 850W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Full-Modular Active PFC FULL-modular Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: 1. Brand - It's SeaSonic for crying out loud! I have owned SEVERAL SeaSonic PSUs and NEVER been disappointed!. 2. Cables - Fully modular, FLAT cables. Makes cable management much easier. 3. Extras - nice bag to keep your spare cables in.

Cons: None at this time

Other Thoughts: I may be reading the markings wrong, but it appears that if I were to use BOTH PCI express cables (for SLI/Crossfire) that I can't run an 8 pin CPU power cable?! If anyone could shed some light on this it would be greatly appreciated. Like I said, I could just be reading the markings wrong.

1 out of 5 eggs

This review is from: SeaSonic M12II 850 SS-850AM 850W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Full-Modular Active PFC FULL-modular Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: Nice cables.

Cons: DOA, which I was unable to determine until after installing, routing, and grouping all of the cables, which I then had the fun job of undoing in order to RMA this. $2k+ build, and it's worthless until I can get a working PSU. One egg until my new one is here, and probably no higher than a 3 for all the trouble a defective unit causes.

Manufacturer Response:

Hi Jakey, sorry for the inconvenience. Please do let us know how the RMA process has gone for you. Please write to: newegg@seasonicus.com Thank you.

4 out of 5 eggsVery Good Performance

This review is from: SeaSonic M12II 850 SS-850AM 850W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Full-Modular Active PFC FULL-modular Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: I used the SeaSonic M12II 850 watt supply in my latest build and it has performed flawlessly. My new ASUS Maximus Hero (I-7 Haswell) system came up fine the first time and this power supply has handled the power requirements without flinching. I love the modular system for cables and the end result after installation is a very clean layout with only the cables you need present.

Cons: The only knock on this supply will probably not be of concern to most people but it was an issue at my location. The computer that the supply is installed in is used with a software defined radio. One of the requirements for use with an SDR is that the components need to be well filtered for RF emissions across the HF spectrum. I found the SeaSonic to be an emitter of RF oscillations at 60 KHz intervals from below the AM broadcast band to 30 MHz. This is an indication that the AC primary line is not de-coupled (flitered) adequately for RF. Note that a comparable Corsair 800 watt supply was perfectly clean in this regard. It was not difficult to overcome this shortcoming by utilizing an external common-mode AC line filter but for FCC emission compliance this really should be done by the manufacturer with internal components.

Other Thoughts: This appears to be a very solid power supply and a reliable performer.

5 out of 5 eggsSimply the best

This review is from: SeaSonic M12II 850 SS-850AM 850W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Full-Modular Active PFC FULL-modular Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: This PSU is superb as are all the PSU's made by SeaSonic. It is quite and provided more than enough amps to push whatever you want to cram your computer with. What's more is that it does so with almost non existent current ripple and exceeds its listed specifications

Cons: Didn't come with a pearl red metal flake power coating. But nothing does.

Other Thoughts: Before buying any power supply check real power supply reviews at Hardware Secrets. You will see why spending a little more is well worth it.
