5 out of 5 eggsGreat PSU

This review is from: SeaSonic M12II 850 SS-850AM 850W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Full-Modular Active PFC FULL-modular Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: Excellent Build Quality
Very Very Quiet (even my case fans are louder than this thing! its dang near silent)
Fully Modular

I would recommend this PSU to anyone looking for high wattage without breaking the bank. Seasonic fails to disappoint!

Cons: Manuel is basically useless
SATA cable could have been a bit longer

Other Thoughts: Overall I'm happy with the Power Supply. I'm gonna crossfire a couple of cards in the future so i'll update the review once i see how that goes.

5 out of 5 eggsBest PSU I've ever used

This review is from: SeaSonic M12II 850 SS-850AM 850W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Full-Modular Active PFC FULL-modular Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: Fully modular
The technology used to prevent shorts in it are top of the line
The gold plated high current terminals for your components will help if a short occurs
5 year warranty is a must!

Cons: It doesn't glow blue like my fans or my old unit did, but the quality is what counts here, not the looks

Other Thoughts: My Kingwin Bronze 1000w died on me after 3 years when I came back from vacation. I went to my local computer store because I didn't have a spare PSU to test my components to make sure they didn't fry. Turns out I was lucky and everything was ok. The sales rep there recommended this PSU (I was overkill on my 1000w, that's why it shorted). I had never heard of SeaSonic until now and they are the BEST. I can't wait to get my 980Ti next month and hook that bad boy to this unit. From now on, I'm going SeaSonic

5 out of 5 eggsto the guy who's unit broke after one year

This review is from: SeaSonic M12II 850 SS-850AM 850W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Full-Modular Active PFC FULL-modular Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: It's still under warranty by 4 years. I know you've most likely sent it in for replacement. I would have. Anyways it was most likely a bad rail in the unit. It won't happen twice trust me. Sea sonic is very good to customers.

Cons: Not a con but I already own one and I'm ordering another through new egg

3 out of 5 eggsGood for one year

This review is from: SeaSonic M12II 850 SS-850AM 850W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Full-Modular Active PFC FULL-modular Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: I like the cables and it worked great for one year to the day of purchasing it.

Cons: It suddenly dropped power to the system and then smoke started shooting out. I hope the rest of my system is okay but I won't know until I replace it.

Manufacturer Response:

Hi Robert, I am sorry for the inconvenience. We try our best to ensure top quality and when failures happen, we try our best to resovle the issue as soon as possible. Please note our power supplies all come with the necessary protection circuits to prevent damage to your system components. 2 out of 5 eggsSolid Power but UNACCEPTABLY LOUD

This review is from: SeaSonic M12II 850 SS-850AM 850W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Full-Modular Active PFC FULL-modular Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: Great cable management, build quality and stable power delivery. HOWEVER.......

Cons: This power supply is the loudest unit I have ever used. Coming from an old, but extremely quiet Antec Quattro 1000w with a single 80mm I expected this unit to be as quiet. However, it seems that Seasonic has one of the most aggressive fan profiles. At idle or light usage you can barely hear the fan, however, once rendering or in game it sounds like you just turned on a ventilation fan for a fume hood. This is not the sound of a bad fan it is just the sound of a fan running at 100%. This is easily the loudest thing in my office and can be heard through closed back headphones playing at medium-high volume. Unfortunately, this doesn't seem to be out of the norm for this PSU...I should have investigated further before my purchase so that is my fault. Take a look at johnnyguru's review of the unit. He reports elevated fan noise under cold and hot testing as well.

5 out of 5 eggsI am future proof

This review is from: SeaSonic M12II 850 SS-850AM 850W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Full-Modular Active PFC FULL-modular Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: This thing will handle probably any Video card on the market as it does push 70 amps. looks great heavy and very well built. fully modular is the way to go. NO colored ends on the cables everything is black. LOVE IT!!

Cons: What cons??

Other Thoughts: Upgrading to GTX 980 soon and i'm fully confident there be zero problems with this power supply feeding it.

4 out of 5 eggsBest Bang for the Buck

This review is from: SeaSonic M12II 850 SS-850AM 850W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Full-Modular Active PFC FULL-modular Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: The power supply looks very nice and with a mostly black exterior, minus some stickers and logos, it’s most likely going to match most builds. It is fully modular with all black cables, so no rainbow wires will atrociously ruin the aesthetic of any build. The cables are both durable and easily flexible. It’s a very rugged power supply that lives up to powering high end multi-gpu builds. I used this for a dual GTX 780 build with an overclocked i5 and it never skipped a beat or even ramped up the fan. I wish a separate set of individual 8 pin and 6 pin pci cables were included so graphics cards that don’t utilize more than two 8 pin cables will not have extra unused connectors hanging off the card. However, most PSU’s don’t include this so it’s no reason to consider it a con. There are always cable extensions to fix this

Cons: As for a functional con, the only one for me is the sound level of the fan. To make this clear, the fan is NOT loud. As a matter of fact it is actually rather quiet. I have measured it to be around 30 decibels at idle. This is more than Seasonics claim of the fan not going above 25 decibels. However, as stated before, even with two gtx 780’s the fan never ramped up. So it remained at the same level from idle through full load of my system.

Other Thoughts: All in all, a very good PSU for the price that is very much above average. I don’t think you will find anything better for any less from a reputable company like Seasonic. I give it a solid “B+”. I would give it an “A” if the fan was closer to complete silence, but that’s relative and subjective to the user’s personal level of sound tolerance, preference, and opinion on silence.
