1 out of 5 eggsGreat on paper, horrible execution.

This review is from: SeaSonic X-1250 ( SS-1250XM2 ) 1250W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Full Modular Active PFC Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: very good instructions, and worked problem free for around 2 months

Cons: hasnt worked very well since month 2 of use.

Other Thoughts: product started out well, but after 2 months was intermittently restarting. at first it was almost not very discernable what the problem was and seemed benign, but after about 10 months of almost monthly random shutoffs it got worse fast, eventually getting to be daily. its currently bricked and in my garbage. looking into these reviews this is a very common issue, for a top dollar power supply there shouldn't be 20% having this problem. in my 10+ years of system building experience i've never had a power supply fail, yet this seems to be a regular occurrence based on reviews. save yourself some time and run far away from this monstrocity

1 out of 5 eggsFailed after four months of use

This review is from: SeaSonic X-1250 ( SS-1250XM2 ) 1250W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Full Modular Active PFC Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: Worked well while it worked

Cons: Everything about a failed power supply is a "con". RMAs and warranties are fine, but a dead computer while a power supply is being replaced is never acceptable. Nothing is perfect, but a component at this price point with this reputation can fairly be expected to perform flawlessly for years. This is the first PSU I have ever experienced a failure with in over 20 years of computer building experience. Maybe I've been lucky, but I've certainly been unlucky with this unit. I cannot in good conscience recommend this unit, or this manufacturer, based on my experience.

Look elsewhere.

Other Thoughts: No.

2 out of 5 eggsWas great

This review is from: SeaSonic X-1250 ( SS-1250XM2 ) 1250W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Full Modular Active PFC Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: modular with plenty of power. Worked great for 21/2 years.

Cons: Has started randomly shutting off.

Other Thoughts: When it shuts itself off I don't feel any excessive heat on it's case so I don't believe it is overheating. I keep my pc case clean and the area around it is clear. I'll see if I am able to RMA it and will update .

3 out of 5 eggsPaid 219 dollars. Died after one year and three months. Emailing them for RMA

This review is from: SeaSonic X-1250 ( SS-1250XM2 ) 1250W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Full Modular Active PFC Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: Worked great until it died

Cons: Paid a lot for this power supply. Really hope the RMA process is not difficult and long. Have a 27 inch 4K IPS monitor on the way and a dead computer. Monitor is my Christmas present. Also hope power supply going out did not kill all my other equipment. Have about 1800 in other parts in my computer.

Other Thoughts: Will wait and see how good their customer service is before recommending or not recommending.

1 out of 5 eggsBad quality, Bad Company

This review is from: SeaSonic X-1250 ( SS-1250XM2 ) 1250W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Full Modular Active PFC Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: The unit worked ok for a year.
Fit Cables were ok.

Cons: Bad Unit lasted for just a year paid good money for bad quality
Sent unit in for rma had to pay for shipping. waited two days for email on status. Then sent email to obtain status waited one more day for response.
No response given. How about you give me my money back so i could just buy a new one it would take less time.

Manufacturer Response:

Hi Brenton, I am sorry for your experience with our product. Components do fail from time to time and we try our best to prevent such occurrences. I am sorry you have to pay for the freight but this is our standard procedure for RMA. The turn around time for the RMA is fairly fast and if you have any issues or complaints, please write to: newegg@seasonicus.com Thank you.

1 out of 5 eggsfaulty unit, terrible vendor

This review is from: SeaSonic X-1250 ( SS-1250XM2 ) 1250W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Full Modular Active PFC Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: It's a power supply, it gets the job done (sometimes)

Came with some nice accessories and modular design is always nice.

Cons: No complaints while it was working, but after owning it for a few months computer would randomly turn off and not turn back on until i disconnected it from a power source for several minutes. This issue has slowly gotten worse over time until now where it happens several times a day with heavy use.

I RMAd the faulty unit (paying for shipping and waiting weeks for a standard shipping replacement) to receive a unit that quickly revealed itself as faulty in the exact same way as the first.

I am trying to have a conversation with their support but their phone line goes to voicemall 100% of the time and when I email all I get is a boilerplate response telling me to send in the unit for yet another RMA with no acknowledgement that this is the second time this has happened.

Seasonic may make a good product most of the time but the risk of having to try and deal with their non-existent customer service in the case of a faulty unit is cause enough to steer clear of them in the future, which I will be doing and recommending to friends of mine as well.

Manufacturer Response:

Hi Patrick, I am sorry for the lack of voice support but please note, there is not very much which can be done over the phone for checking the PSU. The best solution is to start a RMA and the procedure is very fast and painless and you will have an operating PSU as soon as possible. If you have any questions or concerns please write to: newegg@seasonicus.com Thank you.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat buy

This review is from: SeaSonic X-1250 ( SS-1250XM2 ) 1250W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Full Modular Active PFC Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: I've always loved Seasonic, but this power supply has a nifty advancement. The cords are separate from the power supply, and the unit has labeled slots that specific cords fit into. It makes things very easy to figure out, and gives a little room for moving things around when you have that one obnoxiously short cable to plug in. And it comes with lots of cables, more than you'll need.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: Haven't had a bad unit from Seasonic yet. The cord advancement makes this the easiest power supply install I've ever done.

3 out of 5 eggsFirst one arrived DOA, second works fine so far

This review is from: SeaSonic X-1250 ( SS-1250XM2 ) 1250W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Full Modular Active PFC Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: It's very quiet and assuming you don't get a defective unit, it should last a very long time.

Cons: The first unit died within ten minutes of use. Essentially, it was working fine until I rebooted my system after installing the OS. Suddenly, I started hearing a fan go to it's full RPM and then shut off over and over again for an indefinite period. I eventually figured out it was the fan in the PSU. I pulled it out of my system and tested it and sure enough, the PSU had developed an unusual issue in which the fan would power on at full RPM and then abruptly shut off and repeat this cycle indefinitely. The fan switch didn't have any effect on this issue. The strange thing is the PSU still worked fine so I'm guessing it was a defective fan sensor.

Other Thoughts: The replacement arrived and works exactly as it should, so far at least. Normally, I wouldn't give eggs off for getting a defective unit. The fact is a small percentage of all units will be defective and some people will be unlucky enough to get defective units. However, I'm a bit concerned by the numerous reports I have read about this specific model arriving DOA or dying prematurely. While there will always be a few reviews complaining about defective units, there does seem to be an abnormal amount of complaints about this specific PSU model. For that reason, I feel my 3 egg rating is warranted in this specific case since my experience does not appear to be unique.
