3 out of 5 eggsFirst one arrived DOA, second works fine so far

This review is from: SeaSonic X-1250 ( SS-1250XM2 ) 1250W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Full Modular Active PFC Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: It's very quiet and assuming you don't get a defective unit, it should last a very long time.

Cons: The first unit died within ten minutes of use. Essentially, it was working fine until I rebooted my system after installing the OS. Suddenly, I started hearing a fan go to it's full RPM and then shut off over and over again for an indefinite period. I eventually figured out it was the fan in the PSU. I pulled it out of my system and tested it and sure enough, the PSU had developed an unusual issue in which the fan would power on at full RPM and then abruptly shut off and repeat this cycle indefinitely. The fan switch didn't have any effect on this issue. The strange thing is the PSU still worked fine so I'm guessing it was a defective fan sensor.

Other Thoughts: The replacement arrived and works exactly as it should, so far at least. Normally, I wouldn't give eggs off for getting a defective unit. The fact is a small percentage of all units will be defective and some people will be unlucky enough to get defective units. However, I'm a bit concerned by the numerous reports I have read about this specific model arriving DOA or dying prematurely. While there will always be a few reviews complaining about defective units, there does seem to be an abnormal amount of complaints about this specific PSU model. For that reason, I feel my 3 egg rating is warranted in this specific case since my experience does not appear to be unique.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat power supply

This review is from: SeaSonic X-1250 ( SS-1250XM2 ) 1250W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Full Modular Active PFC Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: Fully modular
PSU virtually silent
1250W future proofs your rig will SLI in the future
Comes with plenty of straps and cable ties so you can easily route the cables.

Cons: Only motherboard cable is sleeved : /

Other Thoughts: This is the first Seasonic product I've bought, Granted I've beeen building my own (and friends) computers for at least 12 years. I looked for reviews and Seasonic was one of the top brands, so i hoped for the best and went for it. From the time I opened the shipping box and saw their product's packaging I could tell I was in for a treat. Packaging really makes it feel like a high quality item. PSU comes in velvet like cable. Cables comes in their box, plenty of supplies for cable management. even with hybrid mode off, its pretty much silent, and hybrid is supposed to make it quieter. Overall very please and will buy Seasonic again in the future. First order that i've used Rush/Next day on Newegg (bought a video card, which was the reason i decided to also upgrade my PSU) and I must say, I ordered my items and less than 12 hours later they were being delivered. Overall very please with my purchase from newegg

1 out of 5 eggsOK while it worked

This review is from: SeaSonic X-1250 ( SS-1250XM2 ) 1250W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Full Modular Active PFC Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: It worked OK when it worked.

Cons: Just after 2 years of usage this PSU would occasionally not start after a graceful shutdown. It would still provide some power to my MB (R4E) as the power lights on the MB turn on but the PC would not start until the PSU is unplugged for at least 5min. Now this issue is reproducible every time so RMAing with Seasonic and we will see how long it will take to get a replacement. I can reproduce this problem while shorting the power pins on the MB cable without plugging anything to the PSU so its not my MB or any other peripherals causing this issue.

Other Thoughts: What do you mean I have to pay to ship defective product to you?! It's your defective product Seasonic which is costing me money while my PC is down!

Manufacturer Response:

Hi, we are sorry you are experiencing this issue and I do hope the RMA process was smooth and the issue resolved. As well, sorry, but our RMA procedure requests that the sender covers the freight. If yoiu have any questions or concerns, please kindly write to: newegg@seasonicus.com Thank You.

1 out of 5 eggsMissing CPU Cable

This review is from: SeaSonic X-1250 ( SS-1250XM2 ) 1250W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Full Modular Active PFC Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: Modular design.

Cons: The 4 pin CPU cable was missing even though the box states that it is included. I contacted Seasonic and was told they were shipping one to me. It has been a week and a half and no cable.

Other Thoughts: If all parts had been included, I would have given it a higher rating. But since all parts were not included and Seasonic appears not to be interested in sending the missing part, I will not buy their products again.

Manufacturer Response:

Hi Stacey, sorry for the inconvenience. I have contacted our USA service center and they have found your e-mail, in the SPAM folder, and they will send out the cable to you as soon as possible. As well, this is very strange that the CPU cable was missing from the carton....

In future, when you contact our offices and if you do not receive any response, please consider it is possible they did not see your e-mail/request and for sure it is not in our interest to not provide the support you need. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact us at newegg@seasonicus.com Thank You.

Pros: Modular cables were nice, not too stiff. Powered my rig no problem.

Cons: Died in 8 months. Will not power on at all. Swapped it out with another PSU and no problems.

Other Thoughts: It powered my

5 out of 5 eggsSeaSonic is the best PSU.

This review is from: SeaSonic X-1250 ( SS-1250XM2 ) 1250W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Full Modular Active PFC Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: Solid. stable. Easy to install and config. and a crown royal like bag that comes with it xD. Great packaging.

Cons: I have one small gripe and it's not a issue with the PSU at all. It's the metal sticker that comes with the PSU and for some reason it is wrapped with 4 PSU screws that scratch and damage the metal sticker :( Not taking a egg off for that tho.

Other Thoughts: The medal sticker is not the reason I bought this PSU. I got it because SeaSonic crafts quality PSU's.

Manufacturer Response:

Thank you very much Paul, for the review. I will take note of the sticker issue and report it to our QA at our HQ. In the meantime, if you have any questions or comments, please write to: newegg@seasonicus.com Thank you! (PS, we will gladly replace the sticker for you, please send e-mail with your information)

5 out of 5 eggsvery nice

This review is from: SeaSonic X-1250 ( SS-1250XM2 ) 1250W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Full Modular Active PFC Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: fancy packaging
lots of cables and some nice velcro straps included
you get a fancy velvet bag
quiet fan

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: has been giving my fancy system all the power it needs and doing so stable. ended up with a lot of extra cables, the velvet bag was unnecessary but a nice touch

2 out of 5 eggsBuy something else!!!

This review is from: SeaSonic X-1250 ( SS-1250XM2 ) 1250W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Full Modular Active PFC Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: Great looking and over-the top packaging!

Cons: I have had to RMA 2 of these units in two years and the RMA process has not been great, to say the least!

Today, I subitted a new RMA for the second Seasonic power supply and after filling out all the required information, I received a message saying " RMA Process Status: Serial number is in RMA process or has been serviced before".

I had to send an email to their customer support saying:
"My power supply is still under waranty and I received a replacement for the same power supply before. AS I said in the new RMA request "The power supply worked fine for many months and then started shutting down intermittently and often. My first Seasonic power supply had a similar history.

I have since replaced with another manufacturer's power supply and have not had any issues".

On my first RMA exchange, I received the wrong power supply and it had a big dent in the grill. I had to escalate to person in Seasonic Europe and they finally got it right.

Other Thoughts: Seasonic make a great looking power supply, but I have not had good success with them. Maybe my experience is just an anomaly, but to have to RMA twice in 2 years with 3 years remaining on the warranty, I am going to sell off my newest RMA power supply and go with another manufacturer!

Manufacturer Response:

Hi Mark,
I am sorry to read of your experience with our product and service. I am sorry we did not meet your expecations. If you have the same symptoms with the 2nd replacement power supply, perhaps the issue might be non-PSU related? I hope you have started the RMA with Sea Sonic USA and I hope that it went smoothly after the initial hiccup. If you have any comments or concerns, please contact me at: newegg@seasonicus.com Thank you

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome.

This review is from: SeaSonic X-1250 ( SS-1250XM2 ) 1250W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Full Modular Active PFC Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: So far this thing has barely kicked on its fan, I did a little stress testing and it just keeps rockin'. Although this is way over kill right now because my GPU has not shown up yet. Still looks solid, and is kinda heavy. I like the modular design, I didn't have the same issue as I have read on here with the plugs being hard to plug in.

Cons: Its my fault but I didn't realize this PSU was so long and it doesn't actually fit in my ATX Mid case. My PSU mounts in the front and it runs into the MOBO if you attempt to push it all the way in. So I have an excuse to upgrade my 8 year old case! I'm gonna miss the old girl.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks great

This review is from: SeaSonic X-1250 ( SS-1250XM2 ) 1250W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Full Modular Active PFC Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: - Nice packaging
- Great modular options
- Looks nice
- Quiet

Cons: None so far

Other Thoughts: This is way overkill for my hardware and I probably would not have bought it at its normal price but got it for a great price so it now gives me plenty of room to grow for a while.
