5 out of 5 eggsIf you need this much power, then get this PSU!

This review is from: SeaSonic X-1050 ( SS-1050XM2 ) 1050W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Certified CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Full Modular Active PFC Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: Practically silent operation, solid design, lots of accessories for your build, and will power anything you attach to it (within reason)! It works as advertised and the specs speak the truth; no need for me to elaborate on this end.

Cons: I have used this unit for a few years in my Fractal Design Define R4, and have not run across any issues. Honestly, absolutely none to speak of. Cheaper $ is always better, and it is less expensive now than when I bought it in 2013.

Other Thoughts: This is the only computer component I have owned, that has operated without any issues...I've been a computer nerd for the last 11 years and an IT pro for 5, so that is saying a lot. This is a component you can use until either industry standards require an upgrade, or your power needs require an upgrade. It was a steal at $200 and is even more attractive for the current price.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat PSU!

This review is from: SeaSonic X-1050 ( SS-1050XM2 ) 1050W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Certified CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Full Modular Active PFC Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: -Easy installation no matter how you orientate it
-You have the option to turn the fan on or off
-Modular, so cable management is much more manageable!
-You won't have to worry about what you put in your system with 1050w
-Doesn't get hot
-80 plus Gold
-Isn't a fire hazard

Cons: -Somewhat long
-Some cables could be longer, while others could be shorter (not a big deal for my build)
-Overkill for most gaming builds

Other Thoughts: I bought this on sale and recommend the same for others. Overall it is a high quality PSU that can handle anything!

3 out of 5 eggsUpdate to my angry review

This review is from: SeaSonic X-1050 ( SS-1050XM2 ) 1050W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Certified CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Full Modular Active PFC Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: -After sending an email, I received a text from the RMA department
-Sales person on the phone was helpful and knowledgeable on the psu.
-Like I previously have stated it does get the job done when it was working right.

Cons: -I'm no engineer and I don't have an oscilloscope to monitor how the psu distributes power but I'm experiencing the same symptoms of a previous review from 2012. Besides from the burnt plastic on the 8 pin cpu connector- at both male ends, I'm experiencing random shut downs during light gaming and the red LED that indicates overcurrent protection.

Other Thoughts: - Even though Seasonic RMA support responded pretty quickly to my emails, they should add a support number because not every company responds in a matter of hours or the same day. But Kudos to Kevin and Frank for the quick replys.

Manufacturer Response:

Hi,

I am sorry for your experience with our product. As for contact customer service, I am sorry but for us, this more important that you write in for customer support or visit our website for RMA filing and processing. There is very limited amount of information we can provide via phone service to rectify your situation. But seems that our RMA team in USA did good. Anyway, if you have any issues or complaints, please write to: newegg@seasonicus.com Thank you.

2 out of 5 eggsLasted only 2 years.

This review is from: SeaSonic X-1050 ( SS-1050XM2 ) 1050W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Certified CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Full Modular Active PFC Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: -Does the job when it lasted.
-Nice option to have the the fans running all the time with a switch near the power connector.

Cons: Seasonic support is terrible. There is no support number just an email. After you fill out all the paperwork online it just gives you an address to where to send the defective psu thats it; they dont even provide you with an RMA number. I had to call sales and they couldnt even reach the RMA department.

PSU issue;
- the plastic on the 8pin connector to the psu melted. Also the male connector to the motherboard- luckily i was using an extension or the female 8pin connection on the motherboard would have been affected.

Other Thoughts: - buy from a company that has a support number

Manufacturer Response:

2 out of 5 eggsIt has died TWICE now

This review is from: SeaSonic X-1050 ( SS-1050XM2 ) 1050W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Certified CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Full Modular Active PFC Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: Works when it works. Silent.

Cons: It died on me. TWICE.

Newegg history shows that I bought this back in 2012. It died on 2014, so I had to RMA it.

Starting last month, my PC did not powered with switch. After disconnecting PSU for couple of hours, reconnecting cables then it turns on. Yesterday even with 6 hours of disconnection from power outlet, it did not recover.

Other Thoughts: Such a pain to process RMA with Seasonic by the way. I honestly don't have such time to repack, send, wait at least 6 weeks for another possibly-can-break-again unit.

Seasonic has been pretty solid with my PCs for past 10+ years. I don't know what is up with this unit though. Like a sucker (loyalty customer), I bought another PSU from Seasonic. This is the last chance. If one of my Seasonic dies again, I'm never buying them again.

Manufacturer Response:

Hi Kevin, I am sorry for your experience. By the sound of the issue, this can be a MB VRM failing as a possibility. Did you contact Sea Sonic USA RMA? The process is fairly simple and not very painful. They will gladly test the PSU for you. If you have any questions, please write to: newegg@seasonicus.com Thank you.

1 out of 5 eggs2nd RMA

This review is from: SeaSonic X-1050 ( SS-1050XM2 ) 1050W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Certified CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Full Modular Active PFC Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: Good brand name. High wattage. Modular.

Cons: I'm on my second RMA within six months.

RMA cost is about $20 for shipping.

Other Thoughts: As an outsider to this issue, you could theorize that I am not using this product correctly. Unfortunately for Seasonic, my <other brand> refurbished power supply has and is filling in to power the same equipment and has had zero issue.

The cost for me to send this unit in is ~ $20 and this is the second time I've had to send it in.

Manufacturer Response:

Hi Donald, I am very sorry to read of your situation. Can it be that maybe one of the cable was not properly connected such as the 12V CPU cable? To have both units fail... the likelihood is pretty low. Please write to us at: newegg@seasonicus.com and please let me know your RMA number and we will track this issue and try to resolve it as soon as possible. Thank you.

5 out of 5 eggs

This review is from: SeaSonic X-1050 ( SS-1050XM2 ) 1050W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Certified CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Full Modular Active PFC Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: Lots of power, lots of cabling options. Hybrid mode makes my system nice and quite when not gaming. Good packaging. Bag for keeping your extra cables in.

Cons: Would have liked to see another pair of single 8 pin GPU cables, rather than the double 8 pin cables. Would have also had another 2 port SATA connecter instead of the multiple 4 port ones.

4 out of 5 eggsGood while it lasted

This review is from: SeaSonic X-1050 ( SS-1050XM2 ) 1050W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Certified CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Full Modular Active PFC Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: Built my desktop and was recommended this PSU at the time and it was silent. Powerful.

Video card demanded 500W so this was a must and no brainer.

Cons: Out of nowhere, it works one day, stops the next. No warning.

Other Thoughts: I believe it's still under warranty so I'm still trying. I'm just hoping services is as great as the unit if not greater.

3 out of 5 eggsNot a Very Quiet Fan

This review is from: SeaSonic X-1050 ( SS-1050XM2 ) 1050W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Certified CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Full Modular Active PFC Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: When the fan is off this is a very quiet stable, psu. But with my rig - a open case with 4 Raid 0 2TB WD hard drives, a Mushkin 480GB SSD, an LG BRD and an ASUS Silent 640, the fan comes on every few minutes and is quite obvious and annoying.

Cons: See above. The fan seems noisy compared to most other PSU units I've used. My 1000w Coolermaster silent - with the fan on constantly - is much quieter - almost as quiet with the fan on as the SeaSonic with the fan off. Silent PC Review gave this model a great rating and called the fan very quiet but it isn't for me.

Manufacturer Response:

HI Scott, Sorry for the inconvenience. If the fan is going to high rotation very early and the system is not very warm or highly loaded, then I kindly ask that you contact Seasonic USA for RMA support. We will gladly test the unit for you. If you have any questions, please contact us at: newegg@seasonicus.com Thank you.
