5 out of 5 eggsSeasonic SS-760XP2 ATX 12V/EPS 12V, 760W, 80 PLUS PLATINUM Full Modular certified Active PFC Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

This review is from: Seasonic SS-760XP2 ATX 12V/EPS 12V, 760W, 80 PLUS PLATINUM Full Modular certified Active PFC Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: It's a Sea Sonic
Actually "Silent", not just quiet.
Nice clean, all black aesthetic.
Platinum Certified.
Price to performance is unmatched.

Cons: I had to RMA the first unit I received.

Other Thoughts: I researched the parts for my new build for weeks. I watched dozens of DIYS videos, to include JJ from Asus's guide, Paul from Newegg TV, and Linus from Linus Tech Tips. They all (9 times out of 10) use Seasonic psu's. I believed that if I spent the money on a Seasonic, I was buying the most reliable, high quality psu on the market. After I rma'd the first one I purchased, I believe it actually is. The psu is flawless. Coming from a Corsair CX750, this psu is on a whole different level of performance. However, it just goes to show you that no matter how much prior planning, researching, and part picking you do prior to a build, there is always a chance that you will receive a defective part. Having to RMA a product that I believed to be the best on the market was very frustrating; however, when I received the second unit (an amazing 3 days after I shipped it back), the second unit was absolutely perfect. I still believe in Sea Sonic, and they have won my customer loyalty. Newegg, as always, is the only place I will ever purchase from.

Manufacturer Response:

Thank you very much for your review and your support of Seasonic!

5 out of 5 eggsMY LAST REVIEW IS INVALID! thus far.

This review is from: Seasonic SS-760XP2 ATX 12V/EPS 12V, 760W, 80 PLUS PLATINUM Full Modular certified Active PFC Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: Looks great, lots of cables, heavy, efficient, and most of all it shuts down at the slightest sign of possible computer damage! It actually tricked me into thinking it was DOA because i had two HDDs fail and it picked up on it!

Cons: I didn't realise that my HDDs were dead and thought that the psu not activating was a sign of bad MOBO or PSU. i was wrong.

Other Thoughts: Sorry seasonic!

4 out of 5 eggsworth every penny

This review is from: Seasonic SS-760XP2 ATX 12V/EPS 12V, 760W, 80 PLUS PLATINUM Full Modular certified Active PFC Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: Finally started using all black cabling
The size has been reduced very nicely
The body of the PSU is now black instead of the older odd looking gray.
Fully modular
Hybrid fan Mode

Cons: The only con I have is that they still split the motherboard connector into two connectors that plug into the psu. I find it harder to have to remove them rather than just one connector and it irritates me, especially if working in a small area.

Other Thoughts: This is my second PSU from Seasonic. For me there is no other brand for a Power Supply anymore. 7 year warranty and sturdy construction, you're getting what you pay for.

4 out of 5 eggsFantastic PSU!

This review is from: Seasonic SS-760XP2 ATX 12V/EPS 12V, 760W, 80 PLUS PLATINUM Full Modular certified Active PFC Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: Great build quality
Whisper Quiet with power to boot!
Plenty of connections
Fully Mmodular

Cons: It has those annyoingly stiff and flat ruber coated cables

Other Thoughts: I am really enjoying the PSU! It is much quieter than my old one and it has opened up the ability for me to add another video card in the future! I knocked an egg only because of the terrible cables. I don't know what price tier you have to reach to avoid those monstrosities but they are just a bear to work with. If they ever switched to different cables this would truly be a perfect PSU!

2 out of 5 eggsHas started to make a "buzzing" noise after owning it for 2-3 weeks

This review is from: Seasonic SS-760XP2 ATX 12V/EPS 12V, 760W, 80 PLUS PLATINUM Full Modular certified Active PFC Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: Powers the PC w/o any problems that I know of...

Cons: Has started to make a loud buzzing noise... VERY annoying. Also, I'm unsure if it'll cause dmg if I keep using it or if this is a sign of a BAD PSU...

This is my main PC and it would be very very inconvenient to get it replaced during this time since I do not have a spare PSU on hand.

Other Thoughts: Not really sure what I think of Seasonic anymore... I was extremely excited about the PSU after all the good reviews people give it.. but I'm going to have to do some research on this issue and hope it's nothing but an annoyance and not detrimental to the lifespan of my PC.

Manufacturer Response:

Hi, I am sorry for the inconvenience. For the noise issue, please ENABLE S4/S5 in the Energy Savings Settings of the BIOS. You must enable all standby energy savings modes. Thank you.

3 out of 5 eggsWorks, low noise, wish for higher quality cables

This review is from: Seasonic SS-760XP2 ATX 12V/EPS 12V, 760W, 80 PLUS PLATINUM Full Modular certified Active PFC Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: Wasn't DOA, nicely packaged, great initial presentation, and sturdy.

Quiet in hybrid mode.

Purchased for $100 is one of the reasons I bought this. I needed a 700w+ psu and this showed up just in time.

Cons: - The cables are pretty low quality. Some of the reviews (linustechtips) show seasonic's cables with very nice mesh protection, but that must have been the old days. Now the cabling is very cheap.

- Two of my cables came damaged; cuts that were deep enough to show the wiring.

- The cpu cable barely reached the mobo. If my case was any higher, I would need an extension cable.

Other Thoughts: cpu cable barely manageable in a Fractal Define R4 case and a asrock z77 extreme4 mobo.

I'm not experiencing any coil whine, yet? the psu is silent in my experience.

I would buy seasonic again, but I would purchase better 3rd party cables. I would rate the cables 2/5 and the psu 5/5.

Manufacturer Response:

Thank you for purchasing Seasonic. I am sorry to hear about the cable damage, please contact SeasonicUSA and they will sort this out for you.
Yes, the earlier versions were the braided cables but many customers wanted the flat cables for easier installation.
The 12VCPU cable length @ 650mm is already one of the longest on the market. I will pass this information to our HQ and see if an update in length is required.

This review is from: Seasonic SS-760XP2 ATX 12V/EPS 12V, 760W, 80 PLUS PLATINUM Full Modular certified Active PFC Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: Everything

Cons: Pricey

Other Thoughts: Upgraded from a nearly decade old 750w PC power and Cooling to this and WOW this thing is a beast...buy it. Its worth every penny and then some. rock stable rails and its cool and silent.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat power supply

This review is from: Seasonic SS-760XP2 ATX 12V/EPS 12V, 760W, 80 PLUS PLATINUM Full Modular certified Active PFC Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: Single rail; super efficient; great quality; modular. Replaced a perfectly working Corsair Bronze certified.

Cons: Seasonic wouldn't send me an extra modular cable, but they did refer me to a dealer. Would have been nice for them to just send me the part that probably costs 10 cents to make.

Other Thoughts: It does what it's supposed to! Using it in my home server, running 15 drives (and counting).

4 out of 5 eggsGood But Annoying PSU

This review is from: Seasonic SS-760XP2 ATX 12V/EPS 12V, 760W, 80 PLUS PLATINUM Full Modular certified Active PFC Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: -Solid steady voltages
-Sleek Look
-Hybrid Design
-Fancy packaging

Cons: -SHORT CORDS, I have 4 HDDs in a RAID 10, I had to use 3 separate SATA cables to connect ALL the HDD's together.

Other Thoughts: The case I have has built in sound dampening material so IF there is coil whine I don't here it at all. Like I said over all it is a great solid PSU especially the 80+ Platinum, if this were to ever be replaced it would be with another Seasonic PSU!

5 out of 5 eggs

This review is from: Seasonic SS-760XP2 ATX 12V/EPS 12V, 760W, 80 PLUS PLATINUM Full Modular certified Active PFC Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: This was a good price at the time. I read that this thing tends to run cooler than other PSU's w/ good voltage regulation, which are the primary reasons I bought this over a $10-20 cheaper seasonic. so far so good
MB cables are bundled and wrapped in mesh, all other cables are flat black
More than enough PCI-E 6+2 cables than I would ever need...could theoretically power 4 GPU's! (my case only fits 2)
they give you a shorter sata power and a longer sata power which is appreciated in a SFF build
Packaging is excellent, fresh PSU smell and all
has an extra switch to make the fan come on only selectively (ie when it's hot), stays off when it's cool, makes for quiet home

Cons: socket plug is oriented opposite of some other manufacturers, made plugging it in inside the case w/ a plug extender tricky, but hey can't have everything
