1 out of 5 eggsBoth arrived DOA

Pros: There are no pros to a PSU that arrives DOA

Cons: Bought one, came DOA. Bought another to replace to (to avoid delay of cross-shipments), it also arrived DOA.

Both that I bought were DOA.

Other Thoughts: I'm very surprised that Seasonic would produce such garbage. I always had complete confidence in them! Maybe it's just an unlucky batch?

Neweggbusiness.com issued an RMA for both of them, though, with a full refund, which is most excellent of them to do, and I'm very happy about that. I hope they learn quickly that this is a defective product batch. Maybe it won't be later, if you're reading this later... ?

1 out of 5 eggsPoor QA and Unreliable

Pros: None - It's a PSU - under reasonable conditions it should power a computer.

Cons: High failure rate - 33% to be exact.

Other Thoughts: I've purchased three of these over the last year - all for the same 3U rackmount config. The first one is still running after one year. #2 was DOA right out of the box from NE, #3 died yesterday after about 45 days of use. Based on this experience I won't purchase another.

Manufacturer Response:

4 out of 5 eggsSeaSonic SS-400L2U

Pros: Allows electrons to flow.

Cons: See "Other thoughts".

Other Thoughts: *The cooling fan is not the best by any means... I'd removed the bearing sticker and gave it a dusting of dry graphite... Things are much nicer now. If you can, replace the stock 60mm fan with a high end fan and you'll be happier.
*Cable harness to PSU connections are VERY tight. There were times I thought there was going to be damage plugging and unplugging connectors.
*Modular cable harness is nice and allowed for easier customization to suit my needs.

5 out of 5 eggsTrue to Seasonic capabilities

Pros: Looks OEM
Lots of screws
Clear descriptions and manual
Practically a fanless PSU at low loads

Cons: PSU screw holes are not really standardized like the ATX power supplies with respective cases. Some holes exist, some holes don't; I guess one screw is all you need to secure the thing into place, but it feels uneasy not using all the screws the PSU includes in its materials.

Other Thoughts: The PSU fits nicely in Norco RPC-450. The frontal support bracket did not fit with this case, but PSU stays in place with only 2 screws in place. The modular plugs were confusing at first, but as long as the user plugs in all the modular cables on the PSU first (before plugging the 20-pin connector into the motherboard) everything should be OK.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat PSU

Pros: -Very efficient
-Fit perfectly in my Norco 2212 case
-Plenty of connectors (see other thoughts)
-It's Seasonic, so I know it'll last forever

Cons: Not really any

Other Thoughts: I looked and looked and looked for the connector count before purchasing this, and I could not find it anywhere. In case anybody else is interested, here it is:
1 24pin ATX connector
1 8pin EPS12V connector
1 4+4pin ATX12V/EPS12V connector
5 4pin molex HDD/ODD connectors
4 SATA connectors
1 4pin floppy connector
1 6pin PCI-E connector

5 out of 5 eggsGood for 2U rack mount systems

Pros: Quiet
Gold
works great with the Norco RPC-2008
price

Cons: Would be nice if there was a platinum model

Other Thoughts: This works very well for any 2U rack unit. The wattage is perfect for 8 drives in my case and probably could power more. The only downside was that I wanted a platinum data center but have not been able to find any 2U power supplies for a reasonable price.
