4 out of 5 eggsGreat PSU

This review is from: SeaSonic S12G S12G-650 650W ATX12V / EPS12V 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: Has everything I was looking for in a power supply

Cons: I see some people complain about the length of the 24pin connector, on my end I was forced to pass the CPU 8Pin in front of my MoBo since the cable is a bit short.

1 out of 5 eggsThings could of gone better

This review is from: SeaSonic S12G S12G-650 650W ATX12V / EPS12V 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: I ordered this power supply for my computer and we installed and turned the computer on and everything was running just great and all was well. The computer then shut off and we smelled burning shortly after and we figured out that the power supply was shot.

Cons: The power supply burnt out on us in a matter of minutes.

Manufacturer Response:

Hi, I am very sorry to read of your case and please either RMA the unit with NewEgg or at www.seasonicusa.com
We try our best to ensure top quality and we apologize for this situation. If yoiu have any questions or comments, please write to: newegg@seasonicus.com Thank you!

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome piece of hardware!

This review is from: SeaSonic S12G S12G-650 650W ATX12V / EPS12V 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: Quiet, built well, some of the best in the industry! Love the velcro straps and plenty of zipties.

Cons: For my system its almost to many connections and i have a lot of them tied up and tucked away, but that's not really a con is it!

Other Thoughts: I had built a nice system about 2 years ago, I had a nice thermaltake from my old system that i wanted to transfer over, however it would not power the mother board properly. I ran out to a local computer store and bought the cheapest thing i could find to get the system up and running. A few weeks ago i started getting blue screens of death and strange lockups, after process of elimination I came to the conclusion that the power supply was not performing properly any longer in my setup. I shopped around new egg and decided this power supply was the one i wanted. I got it in the mail, slapped it in my rig, powered it up... So quiet! No more BSD!!! Nicest power supply i have ever owned!!!!

4 out of 5 eggsOverall good

This review is from: SeaSonic S12G S12G-650 650W ATX12V / EPS12V 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: Good finish. Solid output under full CPS load

Cons: Noisy fan, too fast for load and temperature. Output about 0.05 above spec for 3V and 5V lines, and 0.1V above specification for 12V line.

Manufacturer Response:

Hi Mohamed, Thank you for the review. Please note, the fan is set to perform the necessary cooling as needed by the PSU. The output as you have stated @ 0.05V over 3.3V & 0.1V over 12V is pretty much spot on and witihin our & Intel specification. Thank You.

3 out of 5 eggsDoes The Job

This review is from: SeaSonic S12G S12G-650 650W ATX12V / EPS12V 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: Quality brand. One of the few companies to make their own PSUs. Many outsource, which can cause serious problems later.

Quality packaging.

Came with some handy extra-stuff. Small cable ties, some neat stickers, etc.

Didn't explode when I plugged it in.

Powers everything as it should.

Cons: PSU to Wall cable is a little short.

The spot where you plug the power into in the back of the PSU itself is slightly...loose? It wiggles around a bit. Nothing catastrophic, but slightly unsettling.

The big issue that I have with this is that the wires somehow got twisted during the manufacturing process, and then connected together. Not sure if this is isolated, but probably not. Two "arms" of wire were twisted around each other, and they couldn't be untwisted without actually cutting the wire. This was of particular annoyance with the size of the case I was working with. Wire management was a nightmare.

Other Thoughts: I purchased this to repair an old gaming PC for a friend. The previous Thermaltake 800W PSU was cheaply made, and malfunctioned. There was literally smoke coming out of the PC. Somehow the components survived.

800W wasn't necessary for this particular computer, so I switched to this.

This is a decent power supply that, from experience with this company, will not fail on you.

That being said, make sure you have enough case space for wire management. That goes with any power supply with non-modular cables, but these cables are particularly annoying to if you're short on space.

Manufacturer Response:

Hi Kyle, Thank you for your review. Can you please kindly clarify the issue of the twisted wire as I am not sure if I understand it correctly. Please write to: newegg@seasonicus.com Thank You.

5 out of 5 eggsVery Nice PSU

This review is from: SeaSonic S12G S12G-650 650W ATX12V / EPS12V 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: -Gold rated
-Seasonic Quality
-NON-modular
-Small size, good for many cases

Cons: The 8 pin CPU power connector is just not long enough to reach back behind the MB tray and plug into the top CPU power connector. So I had to run it over the front of the MB, bummer :/

Other Thoughts: Excellent PSU, you can tell it is straight up quality. NON-modular, which is what I was looking for. Modular sucks, having a break in the power cables, (having to plug them in to the PSU), just means more points in the PSU can fail. Having the power cables hardwired to the PSU gives you extra reliability.

5 out of 5 eggsQuiet and functional

This review is from: SeaSonic S12G S12G-650 650W ATX12V / EPS12V 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: Quiet, 80 Plus Gold certified, nice size, and the case badge doesn't look bad either.

Cons: The case badge is a bit large? Pretty much nit-picky, but next to the Intel badge, it's pretty big... Then again, so is the G.SKILL badge, so maybe Intel just needs to up their badge cred?

Other Thoughts: First time buyer of Seasonic, coming from the TT camp. Definitely would buy again and will recommend to friends who are looking for a good PSU in the future.

5 out of 5 eggsSeaSonic S12G 650W Gold Power Supply

This review is from: SeaSonic S12G S12G-650 650W ATX12V / EPS12V 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: Arrived 1 day early.
Packaged well.
Price with promo code and rebate. Free shipping.
Very dependable brand.
Voltages checked at delivery, on the spot.
Very nice power supply.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: This is a full wired power supply, and there are many cables. Not a stranger to the Seasonic brand, as these are all I will purchase. Three M12II, Two G series Gold, Select Antec and XFX models of which Seasonic is the OEM. It doesn't get any better than this.
