When you build a gaming system you need to make sure you can supply it the power you need. The Raidmax Hybrid 2 RX-530SS is a serious contender in the power wars. This 530W PSU delivers 28A on the +3.3V rail and 34A on the +5V rail plus 20A and 17A on the two 12V rails giving you plenty of power for your mobo and everything you load into the system.

The 20+4 and CPU power connectors are full length because everyone needs those. The rest of the connectors are modular so you only use what you need. There are four SATA, six molex, two FDD and perhaps most important of all two PCIe connectors for high end video cards.

Keeping all that power cool requires an extreme cooling solution. A massive 135mm cooling fan with blue LEDs takes up the bottom panel of the housing. The back panel is perforated in a Hexflo honeycomb mesh for maximum airflow combined with superior strength.

  • newegg ATX12V Compatible Compatible with the ATX12V standard, the Raidmax RX-530SS power supply provides maximum power stability to drive the latest Intel and AMD processors as well as other components for desktop and entry-level sever computer systems.
  • newegg 530W Maximum Power A maximum power of 530W delivers safe, reliable output for mainstream computer systems.
  • newegg Highly Efficient Delivering up to 80% efficiency, the Raidmax RX-530SS power supply saves energy and may even reduce your electric bill!
  • newegg Efficient Cooling A 135mm silent blue LED fan plus Hexflo honey comb cutouts increase overall airflow in the power supply enclosure and help remove heat from the chassis simultaneously.
  • newegg KOMODO Smart Modular Cabling System The KOMODO smart modular cabling system allows use of only the cables you need resulting in improved internal airflow and reduced system clutter.

5 out of 5 eggsReliable

Pros: Fairly quiet. I never noticed the sound of the PSU but my tower does sit inside an enclosure so that might have helped dampen sound.

It's reliable. The fan on my unit is just now starting to fail. I've had the thing running for a little over 4 years (received it February of 2009).

Braided cable took a lot of the worry away in regards to moving parts around. The cables have stood up to my abuse and don't even show wear and tear that I would expect from moving them around as much as I have.

Cons: On my unit, there wasn't a way to turn it off but it seems like the new version has a switch to turn off the blue LEDs which is nice.

Other Thoughts: I bought one of these 4 years ago and it's just now starting to die. In that time, I've replaced HDDs, GPUs, and other items in this build. I'm impressed how long it has lasted running near constantly and will definitely consider RAIDMAX again. I will be grabbing another to keep this build running and, with luck, will get another 4 years out of it.

5 out of 5 eggsI love these

Pros: * Decent cable length
* Modular
* Strong 12v amps
* LED's can be turned off
* Solid buy for around $40
* I have purchased 11 of these so far and I have not had a problem with any of them.

Cons: * I wish I had bought more while they were on sale.
* Not 80+ certified.
* Would like to see a few 3pin fan ports.

Other Thoughts: My favorite cheap, entry-level power supply for gaming rigs.
Perfect for almost any single GPU computer build.
Will power an overclocked i5-2500k, and a HD 6970 with juice to spare.

5 out of 5 eggsVery Nice PSU

Pros: Very nice power supply. Modular cables extra bonus. Installed in 5 minutes and everything working smoothly and quietly. Don't use the LED lights but my son would if on his PC. :)

Cons: No screws (no big deal) and no paperwork of any kind. Didn't need instructions but do like at least a data sheet with specs to be included, but even so, 5 stars for this purchase.

1 out of 5 eggs530w pwr supply

Pros: led fan helps to look when working in low-light scenario (kinda pretty too, if you buy a case for that - i did not). the large fan may take longer to plug from dust than more common ones. good price.

Cons: this is my first assessment of a mostly doa unit. i will try to be fair when newegg sends replacement. short answer: it did not work, but newegg was very responsive about replacing it.

Other Thoughts: i am only looking at the unit. the rest of the parts i purchased work just fine. this is my first build from newegg. i cannot tell for sure if the power supply is too weak or just defective. however, the computer is working on a 350 watt from elsewhere. fyi, system is an i5 quad 3.2 with gtx 660 video and 8 gig mem. peripherals are sata.

2 out of 5 eggscomputer wont shut down!!!

Pros: i know why now and i blamed it on the mobo before,
i found a ripped out pin on the 24 pin connector, this pin is the PS-ON# green pin that apparently turns on psu or off

Cons: cheap made quality spend the bucks else where

Other Thoughts: this has never happened before its cheap.
no 80 plus bronze more heat in components and less life expectancy go with 80 plus save your energy bill

1 out of 5 eggsNot worth it

Pros: It was nice while it lasted, cool lights.

Cons: It died. After about 4 weeks of use. Too late for me to return in or RMA it. So now I am also stuck with a GTX 560 that I can't use because I have no power supply that can handle it. Thanks Raidmax.

Other Thoughts: I'm seriously ticked. I thought I would spend some good money on a quality brand so this wouldn't happen, and this hits me. I normally buy cheap, cheap PSU's and they have never died on me... I won't buy from Raidmax again. Not worth it. More money and more trouble.

1 out of 5 eggsThis unit Bad

Pros: Good specs, good price, generally good reviews

Cons: This particular one very bad -- started melting the red wire on the molex connector cable the moment it was powered up. I imagine it fried something, perhaps the DVD burner on there. I borrowed a PS tester after that, and the red Danger light came on when tested.

Other Thoughts: Hope it doesn't cost me a bundle in burnt gear.
