1 out of 5 eggsGood until the fire

This review is from: RAIDMAX HYBRID 2 RX-630SS 630W ATX12V V2.2/ EPS12V SLI Ready CrossFire Ready Modular Power Supply, New Version with Build-in LED Fan On/Off Switch

Pros: It worked fine for three years.

Cons: There was a wire that short circuited and caused a fire. The wire that shorted was in a cluster of other wires and they are all melted/burn, so I can tell exactly which wire short. I don't think it was one of the wire directly form the PSU, however that is not the problem. There was a good 2-3 minutes that when by in between Jimmy coming down from is room to tell us he smelled smoke and us figuring out it was coming from the PC. During that time the PSU never turned off and kept dumping power in to the shorted wire. That is what caused it to go from a simple shorted wire in to a fire that I had to use a fire extinguisher on. After the wire shorted, the PSU definitely should have kick off.

A few years back, I a voltage regulator blow and my Corsair PSU turned off immediately. The MB was obviously dead and the were some burn marks around the voltage regulator, but that was it. There was no fire and if I was not around at the time, the house would not have burned down. The Corsair PSU even still worked after that and I am still using it to this day.

Other Thoughts: If Jimmy was not around went his PC caught on fire, we could have lost the house. This PSU need better fuses that blow when they should.

5 out of 5 eggsI guess I'm one of the lucky ones.

This review is from: RAIDMAX HYBRID 2 RX-630SS 630W ATX12V V2.2/ EPS12V SLI Ready CrossFire Ready Modular Power Supply, New Version with Build-in LED Fan On/Off Switch

Pros: I have had this power supply for more than 3 and a half years. It has never failed me. The blue lights went along perfectly with my rosewill gaming computer case and its cheap price is what made me purchase it a long time ago. Reading these new comments now about other people's experience with this product has made me realize how lucky i am to get such a consistent PSU.

Cons: it actually has trouble starting a couple of times but once i flick the on and off switch a few times, it started working again without a hitch.

3 out of 5 eggsEh.

This review is from: RAIDMAX HYBRID 2 RX-630SS 630W ATX12V V2.2/ EPS12V SLI Ready CrossFire Ready Modular Power Supply, New Version with Build-in LED Fan On/Off Switch

Pros: Cheap
Did it's job for a year
Was quiet when it worked
No real power fluctuations
Plenty of cords that were threaded for stability and cooling efficiency
Semi-modular
Nice blue glow

Cons: Fan started dying in under a year
Raidmax brand name

Other Thoughts: Raidmax has had a very iffy reputation for ill power supplies. They tend to be competitive in their pricing, but their quality seems to lack because of it. I purchased it against my better judgement, and the yar I owned their power supply, it worked fantastically. Until the fan starting clinking against the internal heatsink. Would do this off and on. Eventually, the fan got to the point where it would rattle and smash against the metal pieces, creating a horrible ruckus. Had to turn off my computer and leave it off for a weekend to ensure it didn't destroy anything in the process.

I've purchased another Raidmax PSU in hopes that I just got a clunker from the bin. If this one dies on me as well, I can kiss Raidmax good bye. I'll be sticking to Corsair.

2 out of 5 eggs

This review is from: RAIDMAX HYBRID 2 RX-630SS 630W ATX12V V2.2/ EPS12V SLI Ready CrossFire Ready Modular Power Supply, New Version with Build-in LED Fan On/Off Switch

Pros: It was relatively quiet while alive, and the LED-lit fan is a nice touch.

Cons: It died on the 1st anniversary of purchase - purchased 4/23/14, died 4/23/15. How about that?

I put my PC to sleep, and woke up to what appeared to be a running power supply (the PS fan was running and the LED was on), but no lights elsewhere on the computer. (Clearly I have something waking the PC at night - perhaps a mouse?) Bought a (much nicer) Corsair PS, swapped it for this one, and everything is good again.

Other Thoughts: It's really not a big deal. I bought a budget PS, and got a year's use out of it. Now I know to spend the money on the important parts (like the PS).

5 out of 5 eggsGreat for low end vid cards

This review is from: RAIDMAX HYBRID 2 RX-630SS 630W ATX12V V2.2/ EPS12V SLI Ready CrossFire Ready Modular Power Supply, New Version with Build-in LED Fan On/Off Switch

Pros: This was used to power 2 reference design hp shelby 5770s in crossfire for a long time. I also took this power supply and moved it to my old 965BE system supporting a single nvidia card and it has offered me so much use and power for the mechanical hard drives before i went to SSD, Vid Cards, Water Cooling Block, and DVD-RW

Cons: Can think of any except to do a true crossfire or sli with modern cards you will need power extenders or adapters. The demand for both 8 and 6 pin connetors instead of just one of them is going to be important.

2 out of 5 eggsLoud Fan

This review is from: RAIDMAX HYBRID 2 RX-630SS 630W ATX12V V2.2/ EPS12V SLI Ready CrossFire Ready Modular Power Supply, New Version with Build-in LED Fan On/Off Switch

Pros: No chance to explore. It probably does provides power just fine.

Cons: The fan on this is loud. Too loud. I even ordered a replacement, hoping that this one was just defective. The second one was just as bad.

You have been warned.

2 out of 5 eggsWorked fine for 3 months, then blew up

This review is from: RAIDMAX HYBRID 2 RX-630SS 630W ATX12V V2.2/ EPS12V SLI Ready CrossFire Ready Modular Power Supply, New Version with Build-in LED Fan On/Off Switch

Pros: - a decent power supply
- nice LED lighting

Cons: After just over 3 months, I was in the middle of gaming when my computer shut off. All the lights (in my computer) began flickering and I could hear a clicking sound. After shutting off the power bar, I opened up the computer to the smell of burning plastic. After some tests of turning the computer on and off rapidly, I identified smoke coming from the power supply. There was no visual damage other than the fact my computer wouldn't turn on.

Other Thoughts: NOTE: No other parts of my computer were damaged.

Overall, it was a nice power supply. However, reliability was not so good.

In conclusion: Stick to a better brand, get a certified 80% efficient power supply.

Manufacturer Response:

2 out of 5 eggsNot So Hot

This review is from: RAIDMAX HYBRID 2 RX-630SS 630W ATX12V V2.2/ EPS12V SLI Ready CrossFire Ready Modular Power Supply, New Version with Build-in LED Fan On/Off Switch

Pros: I ran an AMD 7870 and a Phenom II for about a year and now an R9 280x and AMD FX-8320 @ 4.0 ghz.

Cons: Where to start.. Well one of the blades on the fan randomly broke about 5 months after I bought it(at the time I was running a 7870 and Phenom II up until about 4 months ago). And once I got my 8320 the coil whine soon followed.. yes glorious coil whine.. and on top of coil whine the fan is loud as all get out. I am surprised. This thing got awesome reviews from everyone else but has altogether disappointed me greatly. I guess I got very unlucky.

Other Thoughts: I am surprised. This thing got awesome reviews from everyone else but has altogether disappointed me greatly. I guess I got very unlucky.
