5 out of 5 eggsExcellent PSU, definitely worth it.

This review is from: RAIDMAX HYBRID 2 RX-730SS 730W ATX12V V2.2/ EPS12V SLI Ready CrossFire Ready Modular Power Supply, New Version with Build-in LED Fan On/Off Switch

Pros: - Great power output for the price
- CrossFire ready
- Modular
- Blue LED looks great, and is pretty bright

Cons: - The fan is super loud!

Other Thoughts: I purchased this PSU from Newegg in Nov. 2011, and ran it until Nov. 2014. Three years worth of near uninterrupted power use (I rarely turn off my rig).

The fan was always loud, even on first install. However within the last few months it became noticeably louder, eventually to the point where it would emit a very loud "tick" as the fan rotated (kinda like a playing card in bicycle spokes, almost). I'd even gotten in the habit of bumping the side of the case with my fist in order to get the fan to stop ticking.

Eventually, this PSU popped a capacitor or something. Burnt electronic smell coming from it. The internal fuse prevented any other components from becoming damaged.

Either way, three years worth of near uninterrupted service for about ~$70 or so. Definitely worth it's cost, would buy again.

1 out of 5 eggsDied after 3 Days

This review is from: RAIDMAX HYBRID 2 RX-730SS 730W ATX12V V2.2/ EPS12V SLI Ready CrossFire Ready Modular Power Supply, New Version with Build-in LED Fan On/Off Switch

Pros: Modular

Cons: Unreliable

Other Thoughts: You decide if you want to take the risk of this unit dying on you. It worked for the installation of Windows 7 and a few apps and then poof, it died. When I pressed the power it would light up for a split second and then nothing. I used an anti-static wrist strap when installed and had the unit connected to a power conditioning strip with surge protection. I wish they had rotten eggs for negative ratings of a product.

My experience with the RMA process: It's been 4 days since I shipped it back and it has not arrived yet. I used their shipping label. It will take another 2-5 business days for them to process the RMA and then another 1-2 days to ship it and then more days to get here. This is not a criticism, just stating RMA process for reference.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Customer,
We're sorry that the RMA process takes time.
Sometimes if you are far from us, it takes UPS up to 7 business days.
Once we receieve it, it takes only one or two business days to process the RMA.
Most of the waiting time are all on the freight carrier.
We're sorry, if you need other assistance, please send a email to rma@raidmax.com for faster respond/service.
We appreciate you choosing Raidmax products.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks great

This review is from: RAIDMAX HYBRID 2 RX-730SS 730W ATX12V V2.2/ EPS12V SLI Ready CrossFire Ready Modular Power Supply, New Version with Build-in LED Fan On/Off Switch

Pros: Quiet and great for cable management freaks like me. All component cables are short and come with extensions for what you need. The cables you don't need are bound with a clip attached to the side of the power supply.

More than enough power for my needs.

Cons: LED only comes in blue. If you call that a con.

1 out of 5 eggswent up in smoke

This review is from: RAIDMAX HYBRID 2 RX-730SS 730W ATX12V V2.2/ EPS12V SLI Ready CrossFire Ready Modular Power Supply, New Version with Build-in LED Fan On/Off Switch

Pros: work well and was quiet good cable management

Cons: I got this psu has a back up in case my psu when out due to the added stuff I upgrade to on my pc. I had psu and it was working a little overloaded so after I decided to get sometime with more capacity so I got the 730 watt psu after having in storage for about a year I too it out and installed it .It work great for about a month then it one morning I was watching hulu.com like a always do and puff smoke came out of the psu and that was it ! it wasn't even hot or overloaded ! I guess I left in too long in the box after I bought it and it was revenge from me lol ? not really I think I will give it another try some times electronics do this way . hope I dont get to much grief in getting a replacement ! well I put back the old psu and it works hot and noise but its clanking away until I can get a new psu or or it dies on me .

4 out of 5 eggsDoes what it supposed to.

This review is from: RAIDMAX HYBRID 2 RX-730SS 730W ATX12V V2.2/ EPS12V SLI Ready CrossFire Ready Modular Power Supply, New Version with Build-in LED Fan On/Off Switch

Pros: Very quiet. Good deal as part of a DIY combo bundle. Does what I need it to do. Semi-modular design is excellent. Works very well with case built in cable management system.

Cons: I wish the SATA power cables and PCIe cables were not all daisy chained together. For my purposes I am kind of bothered by empty but live connectors just hanging out. Also, the blue LED on the fan, while nice to look at destroyed my planned red LED scheme for this build. Cant swap the fan without blowing the warranty sadly.

Other Thoughts: As stated, this power supply was part of a DIY combo bundle from newegg. I have reservations about the brand, but a warrant reduces my fears.

1 out of 5 eggsLoad and forget the Rebate

This review is from: RAIDMAX HYBRID 2 RX-730SS 730W ATX12V V2.2/ EPS12V SLI Ready CrossFire Ready Modular Power Supply, New Version with Build-in LED Fan On/Off Switch

Pros: none

Cons: I purchased 2 Raid Max PSU with so called rebates its now been 2 years and no rebate. They are a bit to loud for my ears as well.

Other Thoughts: I ended up tossing both PSUs in the trash and went with Corsair (much better and I got my rebates in 3 weeks.)

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Customer,
Regarding the rebate, we have another rebate company that handles our rebates.
We wish you could of spoken to us sooner regarding this issue, but after 2 years, there's really not much we can do for you.
We appreciate you choosing Raidmax products.

5 out of 5 eggs

This review is from: RAIDMAX HYBRID 2 RX-730SS 730W ATX12V V2.2/ EPS12V SLI Ready CrossFire Ready Modular Power Supply, New Version with Build-in LED Fan On/Off Switch

Pros: Great specs for the price. Works fine on an overclocked Phenom II X4 with an R9 280. Voltages seem as stable as my more expensive Enermax, Antec and Rosewill units in my other machines. I can't stand bright LED lights in my cases in a dark room and the LED toggle switch turns deals with that effectively. Turns off the LED in the fan without turning off the whole fan, in case anyone was concerned about that.

Cons: We'll see how long she lasts. I have a 12 yr old Raidmax 350 that came with a case I got years ago, before SATA connectors and PCI-E, it still works so my hopes are high for this bigger and newer unit.

Other Thoughts: Replaced an old Allied 400 that gave 12 years of near 24/7 service.

1 out of 5 eggsWorked for two weeks

This review is from: RAIDMAX HYBRID 2 RX-730SS 730W ATX12V V2.2/ EPS12V SLI Ready CrossFire Ready Modular Power Supply, New Version with Build-in LED Fan On/Off Switch

Pros: I loved the blue LED

Cons: I'm not sure what happened with it, I don't have a huge system and probably only require 600W to run everything but after a few weeks it just wouldn't let my PC boot up. It would boot for a second then shut down and i would have to reset the power to get it to boot again.

Other Thoughts: I bought a Thermaltake 850W and now my PC runs perfectly!

Manufacturer Response:
