3 out of 5 eggsDOA

This review is from: RAIDMAX HYBRID 2 RX-730SS 730W ATX12V V2.2/ EPS12V SLI Ready CrossFire Ready Modular Power Supply, New Version with Build-in LED Fan On/Off Switch

Pros: The box had a high gloss print, but unit was DOA.

Cons: Item was DOA

Other Thoughts: I never got around to completing the RSA/Replacement process, so I don't know if customer support with the company is good or not.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Customer,
First we like to thank you for your review.
We are sorry that this came DOA for you

5 out of 5 eggs

This review is from: RAIDMAX HYBRID 2 RX-730SS 730W ATX12V V2.2/ EPS12V SLI Ready CrossFire Ready Modular Power Supply, New Version with Build-in LED Fan On/Off Switch

Pros: The Blue LED on/off switch is awesome!

It's currently powering an intel i5 4670k processor clocked at 3.9Ghz, 1 8GB 1.5V RAM stick, an ODD, SSD, and HDD, 5 Blue LED fans, 1 Blue Cold Cathode light, an MSI R9 280 GPU clocked at 1ghz, a pci-e card with 4 USB 3.0s, a pci card with 6 USB 2.0s, and a 4-way fan controller (with backlit, digital display.) Everything runs smoothly, and nothing is bottlenecked on power.

The fans are quiet, yet the device doesn't overheat.

Cons: It IS modular...but in a very, very strange way. Rather than connecting a male-to-male cable from the PSU to the device you wish to power, this PSU contains...well, tentacle-like male-end cables that you connect to a female-to-male cable from the PSU to the device. They stick out approximately 3 to 4 inches from the device. ...really, really weird.

Other Thoughts: It's a perfect PSU if you only require <730W. Flawless, really, if blue is your favorite color. Yes, the tentacle-like cables that protrude from the PSU are...different, but it doesn't hinder performance at all, and cable management is still very easy.

5 out of 5 eggs

This review is from: RAIDMAX HYBRID 2 RX-730SS 730W ATX12V V2.2/ EPS12V SLI Ready CrossFire Ready Modular Power Supply, New Version with Build-in LED Fan On/Off Switch

Pros: I really like the power supply. I havent had a problem with it since i bought about 3 months ago. The power supply is modular but its not full modular which means all the power plugs come out of it about 3 inches verse a full modular which you just plug in the cables you want to use.

Cons: None so far

5 out of 5 eggsWorked well for about 5 years

This review is from: RAIDMAX HYBRID 2 RX-730SS 730W ATX12V V2.2/ EPS12V SLI Ready CrossFire Ready Modular Power Supply, New Version with Build-in LED Fan On/Off Switch

Pros: Ran cool & quiet for over 5 years powering my old Core 2 Quad Q9550 + nVidia GTX 260 setup with absolutely no issues. Fan finally died last year...power supply lasted one more year without the active cooling (impressive if you ask me). Going to buy another to replace the one that died.

Cons: Blue light always annoyed me...new ones seem to have a switch for this, so I'm looking forward to that feature. Fan did die after a while, but 4 years of nearly continuous run time and intense gaming take their toll.
Kind of loud compared to my case fans.

Other Thoughts: Solid power supply and was worth the money for how many hours I got out of it.

1 out of 5 eggsNot Acceptable

This review is from: RAIDMAX HYBRID 2 RX-730SS 730W ATX12V V2.2/ EPS12V SLI Ready CrossFire Ready Modular Power Supply, New Version with Build-in LED Fan On/Off Switch

Pros: Functions... That's about it...

Cons: Where do I start? Ok, so again, as I've stated before, if it sounds too good to be true, chances are it is! This is DEFINITELY one of those cases. This is rated as a 730w psu right? Not necessarily. I bought this PSU with the specific intent of running a very high end graphics card. After doing a bit of research online, and not finding many definitive answers, I only got a bunch of theoretical answers... in that "it should work" and what not. Well it doesn't. This thing may be adequate to run a low end to low-mid range system, but not a high end machine! I was brought to believe by many places online I'd visited for research that this PSU "should" power a R9 290x and technically it does... only long enough for it to boot to windows... after that we get TONS of random reboots. I know the card is fine as it's been tested in another machine that has a gold rated 650w psu. I cannot afford such a thing on my budget so I sought this piece of junk instead. If you are looking for something to power a high end graphics card LOOK ELSE WHERE! THESE ARE NOT THE DROIDS YOUR LOOKING FOR! You want a quality product for such a task, and THIS IS NOT A QUALITY PRODUCT! That being said, it's not necessarily a totally BAD product either. If you are running a low end machine it will do you just fine! I should have just saved up instead of being impulsive and antsy. I would have been better off.

Other Thoughts: It has a very nice array of cables that come with it and the blue light is kinda nice... if your machine allows you to see it in any way. Mine does not.

5 out of 5 eggsBeen good for over 3 years

This review is from: RAIDMAX HYBRID 2 RX-730SS 730W ATX12V V2.2/ EPS12V SLI Ready CrossFire Ready Modular Power Supply, New Version with Build-in LED Fan On/Off Switch

Pros: Been running well since 2011. System has been very stable. Nothing very high end but still a decent power draw. I do some 3D gaming and have had ZERO problems.

Phenom II x6 (1090T) 125w
8 GB ram
XFX HD 6850
SSD drive and 1.5 Tb seagate drive

Cons: Indifferent about the light. Its pretty but can't really be seen in my case.

Other Thoughts: Raidmax may have had a bad reputation in the past. But clearly this has been a great power supply for me. I'll will probably replace it soon, but not because of any failures. I am getting better hardware that needs a little more on the 12v rail.
I can recommend this supply for medium duty at least because that is the load that it has handled for me well.

5 out of 5 eggsBought 5 and all 5 are AMAZING!!!!

This review is from: RAIDMAX HYBRID 2 RX-730SS 730W ATX12V V2.2/ EPS12V SLI Ready CrossFire Ready Modular Power Supply, New Version with Build-in LED Fan On/Off Switch

Pros: 1. I do not buy the most expensive and best thing on the market today want to know why? because in 6-8 months your expensive, biggest and best thing you bought today is completely outdated, old and junk compared to the next new thing that came out yesterday today or tomorrow. i have learned this the very hard way several years ago. now with that said.....

5 computers i have built in the last year 3 of those are currently in my home and 2 i have installed in friends computers all 5 of which are running this power supply and all 5 are still going strong today!! my best friend builds computers for people on the side he was the one who originally turned me onto this power supply and he has bought OVER 10 of these power supplies and last time him and i had a conversation all of them are still running strong.

you have a computer? need a power supply for your gaming rig? need to replace that expensive power supply that cost you over $150.00 RAIDMAX HYBRID 730W Modular Power Supply will serve you well kind sir or lady

Cons: See other thoughts

Other Thoughts: (My Computer)....Sorry Intel people im an AMD man

AMD 6350 Vishera 6 Core CPU
Asrock 990FX Extreme 9 Motherboard
16GB GSkill PC12800 Ram
Samsung 128GB SSD HDD
Seagate Barracuda 2TB HDD (Slave)
ATI Sapphire HD 7970 Video Card
Thermaltake Full Tower Gaming Case (5 Case Fans 2 230MM Fans 1 140MM Fan and 2 120MM Fans)

(Brothers Computer)

I7 920
EVGA X58 3 Way SLI Motherboard
6GB PC12800 Ram
1TB Seagate HDD
GTX 750Ti (Was running an MSI GTX 470 till upgrade)
(Same Computer Case as mine)

both of those gaming computers are running this power supply. according to my buddy he recommends to not run an SLI or Crossfire on this power supply due to it only being 730 Watt which i already knew that anyway but trust me when i say you cant go wrong with this power supply. ive read alot of the reviews on here about this power supply and i have no clue why so many people are having problems. apparently me and my friend are lucky
