3 out of 5 eggsFan Failing

Pros: Works good but has issues. See cons

Cons: Nearing the 2 year mark, the PSU fan seems to be on its way out. You would think a $50 PSU would last more than 2 years... Sounds like a bearing failure, as I can hear it rattling on low setting, and when I switch it to high setting it gets worse. If I manually stop the fan, it goes away for a few seconds but begins again.

Fan is definitely failing, right when the warranty expires. Good thing I bought that 1 yr extra replacement plan or otherwise I'd be shelling out another $50 for a new PSU of a better brand. (still have to wait 2+ weeks if I RMA)

First Raidmax item, not sure if I will be purchasing another (due to the fact that the device seems to want to fail just as the warranty is coming to an end, a tactic which is used by shady companies like HP and Dell to force upgrades)

Other Thoughts: So now, I'm either stuck without a PC for 2+ weeks while I wait on a lengthy RMA process, or suck it up and shell out another $50 for a more reliable brand PSU, or say screw the warranty and replace the failing fan myself. For some reason, I feel like the 3rd option would be the most reliable and quickest option to use, but if Raidmax wants to send me a fan to replace the one failing, I'm open to that too. Not my first rodeo, cowboys.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Customer,
If this PSU still under the 2 years, it's still under warranty.
If you like a replacement, simply send a email to rma@raidmax.com for faster respond/service.

4 out of 5 eggsLooks to back up power

Pros: Awesome outside case to give your build visual edge. Wrapped cables maintain a professional look. Fan switch is a nice touch also when you want to go from quiet to serious horse power mode.

Cons: Almost at the two year mark and it's making a high pitched, almost whistling noise. I don't know if this is a new thing since I had it in a closet before. I might contact RAIDmax to see if they can fix it.

Other Thoughts: I do have an issue, but I don't know if it's a new thing or if it was from the beginning. I don't really want to replace since I can't find anything now that looks this good. Other than a relatively quiet annoyance, it does it's job well.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Customer,
First we like to thank you for your review.

If you have any other questions or concerns, please send a email to rma@raidmax.com for faster respond/service.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat little PSU

Pros: -Looks great
-Handled all my peripherals and then some
-Dual speed fan control is cool
-Bottom mount
-No lights
-Nice big fan on the back.
-Power cable is nice and thick & protected.

Cons: -Cables are a bit short

Other Thoughts: I have been using this PSY for almost two years now. It went into a new build (Antec Three Hundred) case, which I found the cables to be a little small for. I had to get creative with cable management and often cables have to stretch across the motherboard.

This PSU has handled everything I've thrown at it without not so much as a hiccup.

On board I have:
- x5 Rosewill 120mm Rosewill Case fans + 1 CPU
- x1 Intel Core i5 2500 @ 95W
- x1 Seagate Barracuda 7,200 RPM @ 6.1W
- x1 -Kingston HyperX 120GB SSD
- x2 G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series (4GB)
-ASRock H77 Pro4-M Mobo @ 125W
-Rosewill RDCR-11004 USB & Card reader

Using a PSU wattage calculator, these components would require a 600W PSU, which this Raidmax obviously isn't. Like I said however, I haven't had so much as a hiccup with this thing. I'm impressed!

5 out of 5 eggsDon't Blame on a few bad batch

Pros: -It works
-Its quiet 90% of the time
-500W which is more than enough for an average user
-80 plus bronze- good for your electric bill

Cons: -Not modular, BUT it never stated as a modular model. So really not a con.

-Nothing at all.

So those who need a modular psu please move on to other products.

Other Thoughts: Honestly I waited a over a year just to make sure if this psu is reliable or not. I have to say for the amount of money, this is one impressive psu.

I would ignore those whiners, remember sometimes bad batches goes through. Like the Xbox 1 & ps4 LOL.

REMEMBER those who need a modular psu please move on to other psu.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Customer,
We're glad that this product worked out so well for you. We hope you'll enjoy this item for many years to come.
We appreciate you choosing Raidmax.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks Great

Pros: -Works.
-It's relatively quiet.
-500W is plenty for most systems
-Solid Value

Cons: -The cables are not the longest even if they reach where they need to.

Other Thoughts: If it seems really loud, try hitting the "turbo" fan button. You probably hit it accidentally.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat psu

Pros: Had this psu for about 6 months now and i have had no issues with it so far. I have a mid range computer that i spent about 600 on and this psu has had no issue powering it and i would reccommend this anybody that wants a cheap yet good psu.

It also comes with a fan speed up switch which is nice for gaming when u need that extra cooling.

Cons: The supplemental cpu power cord it too short to go behind so i had to lay it right over the graphics card but it wasnt that big of a deal.

Other Thoughts: It's pretty quiet most of the time unless you speed up the fan with the speed up switch on the back then it gets kinda loud.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Customer,
Thank you for your feedback.
We are glad to hear this PSU fits your needs and worked out well for you.
We will take your opinion about the cord to our factories oversea.
Again, thank you for choosing Raidmax.

1 out of 5 eggsI Got a door stop!

Pros: NONE DOA!!! Right out of the sealed box!

Cons: No juice

Other Thoughts: Would give 0 eggs new egg charging me to ship it back. If it was something I just changed my mind on I wouldn't complain. But, Charging me for return shipping on a defective item is Bull!!! The Am is looking pretty good right now!

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Customer,
We're sorry this PSU arrived DOA for you.
Please email rma@raidmax.com and tell us what kind of system you're running.
We would love to hear from you and maybe we can discuss the reason or how it was DOA.
Thank you

1 out of 5 eggsBuyers beware!

Pros: It works well and the fan is quiet.

Cons: I bought it in 3/2013 because it was a good deal with a $15 mail-in rebate. The current status says approved, but it has been 5 months and I never received my rebate!

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Customer,
We apologize that you have not received your rebate.
Please call (909)623-6789 from Mon~Fri 9AM to 5:30pm pst and have a live support help you to see where your rebate status is.
