5 out of 5 eggsowned for 3 years

This review is from: RAIDMAX RX-850AE 850W ATX12V v2.3 / EPS12V SLI Certified CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Modular Active PFC Raidmax RX-850AE Power Supply

Pros: i've owned this psu for 3 years now and its still running strong.

I've had it sitting for about 1 year(in between the 3) due to the computer taking a bath in pepsi(everything survived except my acceptable 6850).

Until about 5 months i got a new gpu(shameless pny 560) and pulled my rusty computer inside from the make shift shed outside i had her in and put the 560 in and turned her on and she powered up no problems everything still works fine to this day.

I have no life i play computer games . when i first got it in January 2012 i played computer games on it 24/7 max settings i could(usually the max in the game, that 6850 tho) i have a cat that gets hair and dust everywhere s**ts all nasty and dusty but i dont even care. still running 10+ strong dont get in my way. but for real good psu and i play way too much i have no life i run air cooling 3 years.

first install it ran at 20c now running like 60c but idgaf yolo and ima do a good cleaning tommorrow got a new case(rosewill rise)
i will update the temps and if the psu survives the transplant(i hope i dont drop it)

Cons: none(yet)

5 out of 5 eggs2nd one to date.

This review is from: RAIDMAX RX-850AE 850W ATX12V v2.3 / EPS12V SLI Certified CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Modular Active PFC Raidmax RX-850AE Power Supply

Pros: -Mostly modular
-Modular
-Thick quality cables
-long enough
-2nd one I have had, so good I came back for seconds.
-More than powerful to power all the thing the high end gamer needs and more.
-Awesome handy tool tub! *indeed genius as one reviewer had said*
-easy to install and use.
-After a 20 dollar rebate and 20 dollar iron egg I scored this unit for this for 69 dollars! YEAH BABY!

Cons: -Cables are so rigid they are impossible to do some cable management for several drives.

Other Thoughts: This is the second raidmax 850w of the same model. The first time I bought one I was warned I could have problems as most seem to have. Oddly enough I have never had any problems and I like my raidmax for the most part.

4 out of 5 eggsGood Power Supply

This review is from: RAIDMAX RX-850AE 850W ATX12V v2.3 / EPS12V SLI Certified CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Modular Active PFC Raidmax RX-850AE Power Supply

Pros: This is a solid power supply with a semi-modular design.

Cons: This does not support the new GTX 900 Nvidia PCI-E cards. The new cards use a 4 + 3 pin setup and the connectors provided do not match. You must use an adapter hopefully provided by your video card manufacturer. IN this case Gigabyte GTX 970 provides an 2x molex to a 4 pin adapter which makes cabling ugly...

Other Thoughts: I have reached out to Raidmax and the customer service provided had no idea what I was talking about. I would have expected them to sell these separately .

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome PSU

This review is from: RAIDMAX RX-850AE 850W ATX12V v2.3 / EPS12V SLI Certified CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Modular Active PFC Raidmax RX-850AE Power Supply

Pros: - Excellent modular design
- Very quiet
- Perfect cable length for management
- Unique and useful packaging
- Lots of helpful extras (ATX-SATA power converters, velcro ties, extra screws)

Cons: None at the moment

Other Thoughts: I think the most memorably highlight of this power supply is the packaging it came in. That is to say, the carrying case. It came in a sort of tub that you would get LEGOs in - a handle on top, with removable shelves inside to boot. Right now, I'm using it to keep any accessories that came with the graphics card, motherboard, and power supply its self. Genius if you ask me.

On a side note, I'm a little concerned at the recent failure rate people have been mentioning. I've used this May-August, so four months so far. Holding my breath...

1 out of 5 eggsWorst power supply I've ever had

This review is from: RAIDMAX RX-850AE 850W ATX12V v2.3 / EPS12V SLI Certified CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Modular Active PFC Raidmax RX-850AE Power Supply

Pros: Packaging is cool.
Was cheap. (keep reading)

Cons: Lasted 7 months at full load. NOT HAPPY. Was watching youtube and my rig just died. Could've taken an SSD, a $200.00 video card and $150.00 Mobo with it. WILL NEVER BUY THIS BRAND AGAIN!

Other Thoughts: Seriously, listen/read the reviews. This product is prone to quick failure. If I get a response to this, yes, I know I can RMA (and will); there is no excuse for a power supply to fail after 7 months on a UPS. Wish I could get a refund instead.

1 out of 5 eggsPoor unit

This review is from: RAIDMAX RX-850AE 850W ATX12V v2.3 / EPS12V SLI Certified CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Modular Active PFC Raidmax RX-850AE Power Supply

Pros: It worked out of the box.

Cons: Unit failed after three years which as it seems is lucky because most failed before that. Unit will not supply power to the fixed sata plug but will on a modular plug. Support was a joke, they didn't even know their own product and refused to assist. If you need need a ps and are interested in "raidmax" read around....they are cheaply made and don't last.

1 out of 5 eggsDoesn't even last half a year

This review is from: RAIDMAX RX-850AE 850W ATX12V v2.3 / EPS12V SLI Certified CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Modular Active PFC Raidmax RX-850AE Power Supply

Pros: It last longer than a week compare to the 80 plus standard psu.

Cons: It last less than 6 months

Other Thoughts: I bought this in February 2014. It arrived on February 14 2014 and I started to use it on that day. It burned out on August 6 2014. At the time city temperature was 19 Celsius and my room temperature was 26 Celsius. PSU temperature was 41 Celsius.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Customer,
We are sorry that this psu didn't work out for you.
However, it does come with a 2 years warranty.
If you have any other questions or concerns, or like a replacement, please send a email to rma@raidmax.com for faster respond/service.
We appreciate you choosing Raidmax products.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat PSU!

This review is from: RAIDMAX RX-850AE 850W ATX12V v2.3 / EPS12V SLI Certified CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Modular Active PFC Raidmax RX-850AE Power Supply

Pros: 1. Mostly modular
2. It comes in a nice plastic tub.
3. Lots of power for the price.

Cons: A little longer than my old psu. See other thoughts.

Other Thoughts: My case had a fan on the bottom of my case. When I received this psu and started to install it, I found out that the bottom fan was blocking the PSU. I had to move the fan in order to use the PSU. This isn't really a fault of the PSU itself though so I still love it.

5 out of 5 eggsNever had a problem

This review is from: RAIDMAX RX-850AE 850W ATX12V v2.3 / EPS12V SLI Certified CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Modular Active PFC Raidmax RX-850AE Power Supply

Pros: Works at higher loads but i bought it so i would not have to upgrade for a while so i never get close to its maximum wattage. With my R9 290X i upgraded to it works atmax load for hours when i was testing the card and overclocking it. It has never failed me once and that to me is expected.

Cons: N/A
