5 out of 5 eggsStill not dead

This review is from: RAIDMAX RX-850AE 850W ATX12V v2.3 / EPS12V SLI Certified CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: The power supply is outstanding comes in a well packaged box and after more than two years still runs strong. I built my brothers i5 2nd gen a few years back and to this day this power supply is still going. I highly recommend it! So much so im buying another one.

Cons: Not fully modular but for the price its worth it!

Other Thoughts: Every PSU has a chance of DOA so just be reasonable and RMA before posting bad reviews. As you can see this one made it past 2 years.

Paired with a i5 2nd gen and a 570 GTX

5 out of 5 eggsWorks so far!

This review is from: RAIDMAX RX-850AE 850W ATX12V v2.3 / EPS12V SLI Certified CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: Immediately upon receiving this PSU, I was impressed by its packaging. Unlike other PSUs I have purchased in the past (from OCZ, Kingwin, and Corsair), this came in a sharp looking plastic tote, almost like a small tool box. There was a tray insert on the top to keep screws, velcro zip ties, and other such components. Everything was organized nice and neat inside, and I get a free tote to top it off!

The power supply has worked from the get go, and was pretty easy to install. I have a full sized case (Chaser A71) and the cables are long enough, but just barely. It runs quiet, and does what I need it to do. Great value.

Cons: No real cons, but will update if there are any. See other thoughts.

Other Thoughts: Rubber "boot" that came for the side of PSU that fits against the case is a great idea. It helps reduce vibration, etc. However, it did not fit properly in my Chaser A71 case, or perhaps I couldn't figure out how to make it fit. It didn't seem to line up with the screw holes though. Not really a con, so I'm not docking an egg.
The manual that came with this PSU was pretty thin. Good thing my motherboard came with adequate instructions. I would have liked more specifics on the capacities and outputs of certain cables though.

2 out of 5 eggsGreat, When It Works

This review is from: RAIDMAX RX-850AE 850W ATX12V v2.3 / EPS12V SLI Certified CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: Bought this in conjunction with a full system upgrade to my 4670k/GTX 780 setup. Was a nice price, worked great out of the box and was able to satisfy all my overclocking needs.

Cons: A month after setup my wife tells me when I get home from work that the computer doesn't turn on, turns out the PSU ceased to provide anymore power for whatever reason. RMA'd it and the second one worked for 6 months and just randomly failed on me yesterday. Luckily it did not damage any other components in either of the events.

Other Thoughts: Not bashing Raidmax, as this is the only product I've ever bought from them, but this particular unit seems to be highly sensitive to failure. Not going to bother RMAing it again, but the process to do so was fairly easy and hassle free for me.

Manufacturer Response:

This review is from: RAIDMAX RX-850AE 850W ATX12V v2.3 / EPS12V SLI Certified CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: It appealed to me because it was cheap

Cons: I plugged in my video card and started the system, it seemed to work fine and then out of nowhere the power supply blew up, it was so loud that it sounded like a gun shot. I hope that my other components are ok

1 out of 5 eggs3 month power supply

This review is from: RAIDMAX RX-850AE 850W ATX12V v2.3 / EPS12V SLI Certified CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: Was kinda cheap for a gold PSU

Cons: It had been working flawlessly for a good 3 months, then I go to take a 15min shower and I come back only for my PC to be deader than a door nail. 0 power coming from the power supply to the rest of the PC, GG raidmax. Hoping I can get it replaced despite there being no warranty info included with the box... will probably get the run around have have to buy a whole new unite.

Other Thoughts: Quality assurance has been pretty low with my last build, really wish I wasn't so unlucky.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat PSU!

This review is from: RAIDMAX RX-850AE 850W ATX12V v2.3 / EPS12V SLI Certified CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: Does that its suppose to do and more, plenty of power to keep you going for years and enough for those demanding graphics cards. Best thing about it is that its modular so you can pick which cables you need for parts instead of just dealing with the usual big bulk of cables.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: It came in a nice case for storing things in which was a bonus to buying it

5 out of 5 eggsStable power, great price

This review is from: RAIDMAX RX-850AE 850W ATX12V v2.3 / EPS12V SLI Certified CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: -Provides stable power through all connections.

-Powerful enough for any build.

-Great price for what you get.

Cons: -4 and 8 pin power connectors for the motherboard are not modular.

-Cables can be very stiff. Can make cable routing a chore.

Other Thoughts: The Pros far outweigh the Cons, I think. Even with the extra power connector for the motherboard that I had to hide and the stiffness of the cables themselves, the power supply itself just works.
