5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Cool and quiet operation, semi-modular, rubber sound dampening grommet, 4 black thumb screws, and a nifty supply case with parts tray and carry handle . Excellent power profile for the price.

Cons: The semi-modular design does not label the 12V rails. Would be nice to have them labeled to facilitate equal power distribution for PC items. (i.e. Rail 1 / Rail 2 or Rail A Rail B etc.)

5 out of 5 eggs4.5 years, still running strong

Pros: Reliable
Plenty of power
Modular
Quiet
Runs Cool

Cons: Still no cons after purchasing 2/2011 as of this date 8/2015

Other Thoughts: Some of the reviews here blast this product, but my machine is on every day for 12+ hours running the latest games on a fairly power intensive setup. I've never had a hiccup. It runs like a champ and after 4.5 years, it still provides all the power I need, reliably, and steadily.
Keep in mind, I clean the dust from my system often, unplug and clear the capacitors once every couple weeks, and have the system plugged into a grounded UPS, as well as power down during severe electrical storms.
This is my first Raidmax and if I ever replace it, I will with another Raidmax.

5 out of 5 eggsSo Much Power

Pros: Power, Clean wiring, modular connectors.

Cons: This is not really a con but there is to many 4 pin connectors. I mean how many do you need anymore haha.

Other Thoughts: Would buy again for my next gaming build.

1 out of 5 eggsFire Hazard

Pros: Quiet... a little TOO quiet if you ask me.

Cons: Pay special attention to your cables folks. I own 12 of these PSUs and have had two of them melt the power cables to the point of near fire. Three of the 12 PSUs have given up their blue pixie dust in 45 days. NOT RECOMMENDED.

Other Thoughts: At the same time, my rig with 2 EVGA 1300 G2 PSUs have been chugging along without so much as a hitch. Save yourself the trouble and possible loss of your house. Get the EVGA PSUs.

2 out of 5 eggsNot Reliable

Pros: Very flexible with modular cabling, only install the cables you need.

Cons: Not reliable, I ordered 4. 1 quit working after 60 days. Will not turn on. Two had PCI-E cables overheat and melt at the modular connection point (so hot that it burned the plastic and melted the wires). One works fine.

Manufacturer Response:

5 out of 5 eggsRe-reviewing a few years later

Pros: -Bought 3/15/2012 and it's still going strong
-I've run this with 3 Radeon 7950 GPUs and it didn't even get toasty.
-The rails are rated for 40Amps which means you should be able to run 4 R9 290x's, just can't overclock the "stuff" out of them since you're limited to a total of 1020Watts.
-12v rail tolerances are 11.4v to 12.6 and I haven't hit either

Cons: -PSU tester didn't like the slow startup time of this psu but it doesn't hurt anything on newer boards.

Other Thoughts: 40Amps is 480Watts per rail max, but one 290x card per rail (about 200watts a card) won't hurt anything and with 3 cards you should be able to overclock 3-290x's to your hearts desire.
12v rail tolerances are 11.4v to 12.6, thought I'd reiterate this since someone complained about 11.7v being too much droop..
If you run a 295x2, Titan Z or a 7990 you need to run them on two rails as you'll be hitting a single rails max especially when overclocking.

I owed these guys a new review since I didn't read their rebate form properly and gave them a bad initial review

2 out of 5 eggsRaidmax RX-1200AE

Pros: Nice construction. Power supply is quiet and fits nicely in my HAF-922 case. Comes shipped / packaged in a plastic carrying case that can be re-purposed as a tool box or small parts box.

Cons: Bought this PS on sale with $20 rebate. Submitted rebate info and was approved according to rebate status. Going on 16 weeks and still no rebate check. RaidMax not paying their rebates.

Other Thoughts: Decent power supply for the price, but not high end compared to other models in this power range. Gave it two stars due to rebate.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Customer,
We outsource our rebates outside with another rebate company that handles our rebates.
We would like to hear from you.
If you can, please send a email to rma@raidmax.com for faster respond/service.
We appreciate you choosing Raidmax products.

5 out of 5 eggs3 year review

Pros: 4 12v rails. Quiet, powerful and clean.

Cons: ATX cable a couple inches shy of optimal.

Other Thoughts: It will be 3 years soon and this PSU has hummed along without a hiccup. I have pulled a LOT of current through this can over the years and it's more than held up its end of the deal. I would absolutely buy Raidmax again and would highly recommend.

5 out of 5 eggsGood Budget Power Supply

Pros: Nice Modular Design. Separately independent 12V Rails make setting up Crossfire a breeze. I like the partially modular design. People complain about it, but if you think about it, the ones that are permanently attached are the ones you would normally use.

Cons: Could use more 12V Rails. With video cards needing two or more 12V connectors a piece, you can never have too many 12V Rails. I am currently running 2x r9 290x's and each one needs two independent 12v rail and there are only four 12v rails. SO if I wanted to put a third in, I would need to run them with adapters on the sata rails. It would be nice if it came with a couple extra pcie cords that would plug into the sata rails.

Other Thoughts: Over all. It's a really nice PS with plenty of wattage, a gold rating and its super cheap. You can't go wrong if you are building a budget setup or even a high end one. I am running fx8350 oc to 4.6 ghz, asus extreme9 990fx with 8 gb of 1866, samsung evo 240, 2x r9 290x crossfire and a creative recond3d. It is runs smooth with no power dips. Highly recommend this power supply...
