4 out of 5 eggsUnsure......

This review is from: RAIDMAX RX-735AP 735W ATX 12V v2.3/EPS 12V SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Modular Power Supply

Pros: Semi Modular, easy to install, looks good (blue fan matches my case fans)

Cons: Poor reviews on enthusiast websites like OverClockNet, LinusTechTips & JayzTwoCents........

Other Thoughts: I bought this on sale before I nearly rebuilt my computer at the end of 2014. It was the first part I bought and now I am having second thoughts about it. Part of my situation is I need a Haswell certified power supply and this isn't it.
While it hasn't failed in any way so far, I'm not sure I want to trust my expensive parts to it.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Customer,
This PSU does comes with 2 years warranty.
If anything happens within 2 years, you are covered.

2 out of 5 eggsStrange Happenings

This review is from: RAIDMAX RX-735AP 735W ATX 12V v2.3/EPS 12V SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Modular Power Supply

Pros: Cheap with mail in rebate. Modular design means you don't have to use all the cables.

Cons: I've had a few strange things happen, PC has started turning itself on on it's own, also had a few lockups. Swapped PSU with a spare, and don't have any of these issues.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat PSU

This review is from: RAIDMAX RX-735AP 735W ATX 12V v2.3/EPS 12V SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Modular Power Supply

Pros: Great Moduler PSU. Plenty of power and SATA connections.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I had one problem with this PSU. I bought a mini ITX case that said it supported full size ATX PSUs, but this one was too long. After some research I found ATX standard does not specify a length/depth on PSUs. Typically they are 140mm or 5.5in, this is 6.5in. It's nothing to be concerned about in regards to ATX cases as they will not have any obstructions to the depth of PSU until the end of the motherboard (atleast 9.6in). Just something to be aware of if you plan on putting in smaller cases that clam full size ATX PSU support.

3 out of 5 eggsYou Get What You Pay For

This review is from: RAIDMAX RX-735AP 735W ATX 12V v2.3/EPS 12V SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Modular Power Supply

Pros: The unit itself *looks* fine. It's aesthetically pleasing and it fits in like a glove. It isn't ridiculously noisy like some PSUs and is fully modular except for your two mobo plugs (which you'd need anyways). It *runs*... Does what a PSU is supposed to do. Good power for such a cheap unit.

Cons: The first thing I noticed as I gleefully opened the box to find a PSU that looked as cool in hand as it did on the cover was that the board inside was substantially bowed. Also, the parts and capacitors are a hot mess. As the old saying goes, "if it isn't broken, don't try to fix it," so I was willing to overlook that oversight.
Setting up the cables was fine as expected; the modular design definitely works in this unit's favor and it was easy to route the cables where they need to go (though they may actually not reach for Full Tower users, so just be warned).
The fun didn't start until I tried plugging things in, starting with the 20+4. I am using an MSi 970 Gaming mobo. At first, I got it to go a little past the halfway mark. I had to peel off the tape connecting the 4P to the main piece and plugging that first, then wiggling the 20-pin in for a few minutes. That only got me to the point where there was still 2mm+ of distance between the base and the plug, and no clipping. I tried my eight-year-old Dell just to see if it was the mobo that was tight or obstructed but the same issue persisted.
To make a long story short, two hours and absolutely numb and sore fingers later, I've given up and logged into Newegg to find a replacement. Save yourself the trouble. Spend an extra ten to twenty dollars and get a Seasonic or a Cooler Master, or a semi-modular Rosewill if modularity is a must for you. It's not worth the risk of breaking something.

Other Thoughts: Probably not even worth waiting for RMA. Going to return and replace.

PS: Don't get a CX either, even though they're in the same price range, I hear those have terrible fitment issues too but that is up to your individual judgements.

1 out of 5 eggsUtterly disappointed

This review is from: RAIDMAX RX-735AP 735W ATX 12V v2.3/EPS 12V SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Modular Power Supply

Pros: Absolutely none.

Cons: Read the other thoughts

Other Thoughts: Bought this power supply for my significant other, who relies highly on her computer to make a living, her previous power supply was five years old and failed to supply the proper amount of voltage anymore.

Now, I'm not going to bash a product for being dead on arrival, however, the thing that really REALLY gets me, is the fact that I checked over the chassis, and I found the warranty void if broken seal, BROKEN.

I don't know if this is some sort of joke to me as the consumer, but this is honestly the most disappointing computer part I've ever received in my entire life.

This is absolutely unacceptable, if this quality is allowed by the company going out the door to the retailer, I'd buy ANY other product in a heartbeat

Pros: Installed easy, modular design makes for easy expansion/clean installation. Good pricepoint for the wattage.

Cons: The blue light coming from the fan assembly cannot be turned off, but it does look cool.

2 out of 5 eggs5 months later and there's a strange clicking sound that won't go away, getting a new PSU to replace this one

This review is from: RAIDMAX RX-735AP 735W ATX 12V v2.3/EPS 12V SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Modular Power Supply

Pros: The PSU Still Works
It was able to run 2 R9 270x's in Crossfire
My PC parts didn't blow up

Cons: Now this PSU makes a frequent clicking sound that won't go away
I don't trust this PSU with my expensive PC parts anymore
1 year warranty is not very good
Even if I was able to RMA this product, I would have to send it back and buy a new PSU in the meantime, which defeats the point of having a PSU that can run in my PC

Other Thoughts: It's been about 6 months since I've had this PSU and 5 months in, the thing started making this clicking sound all of a sudden. At first it happened every so often, but now it's constant. The PSU hasn't failed YET, and early on it powered all my components including 2 R9 270x's in crossfire and 3 Hard Drives (2 ssd, 1 sshd) and a blu-ray driver well, but it was always the noisiest piece of kit in my case (which I mentioned in my previous review), and now on top of the fan noise it's clicking constantly.

I should've realized the 1 year warranty was a sign of how reliable this power supply was (not very), and now I've went ahead and bought a Corsair PSU which I will replace this thing with ASAP because I don't want it to blow up and fry more than $1000+ worth of computer parts. Next time, I'm just going to buy an Antec (my usual brand) or Corsair or even a Seasonic or EVGA PSU and just avoid off-brands. No more raidmax or no-name brands for me. Paying $10 or $20 more is worth the peace of mind.

Also, I never got my $15 rebate from Raidmax, so the Rebate process is unreliable too. One last thing as an FYI: I don't overclock, so this accursed thing's acting up due to normal use to boot.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Customer,
This PSU does come with a 2 years warranty.
If you like to process a RMA with us, please send a email to rma@raidmax.com for faster respond/service.
We appreciate you choosing Raidmax products.
