1 out of 5 eggsFailed after 10 seconds: Cannot recommend

This review is from: RAIDMAX Cobra RX-600AF-B 600W ATX 12V v2.3 / EPS 12V SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Power Supply

Pros: - Ended up being a great teaching tool for troubleshooting issues building a computer as this was part of components for PC build for sons Christmas

Cons: - I would guess it would be a con that it only worked for only a few seconds before failing.

Other Thoughts: So Christmas morning my son opened all the parts for building his own computer, after finishing everything we boot up into BIOS (yeah...) then a few seconds later, it powers off and never powers back on. After troubleshooting everything and taking everything back apart we tested another power supply(from my PC) and everything worked fine. I retried this power supply in my PC, would not even POST just like in my sons. So he got my power supply and since I could not wait for replacement process I went out on day after Christmas to replace.

FYI: I have built many computers and have never had a power supply fail like this. Both of us were grounded property to the power supply(I work on electronics for a living and have never had issues but I always take this precaution and wanted to teach son as well). I also tried to be reasonable and contact the company first since things happen and electronics can fail, but they were not much help just the usual send us all the paperwork and we will process your request and you must ship it back to us at your expense(rma@raidmax.com is who I contacted based on several other reviews about this product failing, wish I had read reviews first...). I would normally avoid writing a bad review even with failed product but maybe I can save others from the issues with this product, especially since the company was of no help so find another brand in my opinion.

I processed a return through Newegg and at least they provide return label, as they should since it failed on first use. I will just keep the replacement as an extra for some other use(hopefully it will work) as I have already processed a rebate so I'm stuck with this product now. I bought it about 1 month ago when buying parts so I went ahead and processed rebate before testing it.. my mistake with doing that...

Manufacturer Response:

5 out of 5 eggsRaidmax 600watt PSU

This review is from: RAIDMAX Cobra RX-600AF-B 600W ATX 12V v2.3 / EPS 12V SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Power Supply

Pros: Its a good PSU for entry level builds, decent cable sleeves, and keeps itslef relatively cool.

Cons: I would say the only con would be that it only has two 6pin cables, so if you are looking to do sli with mid range cards you're out of luck.

5 out of 5 eggsWorking great Nice Cable Sleeves

This review is from: RAIDMAX Cobra RX-600AF-B 600W ATX 12V v2.3 / EPS 12V SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Power Supply

Pros: Has great cable sleeves, Cables fit my Mid tower ATX great with room to spare. No issues as of this time.

Cons: None that I can think of aside from not being modular but not the PSUs fault and one reason it is cheaper than some other PSUs

Other Thoughts: Had it for about 1 week now

1 out of 5 eggsIt was working pretty good until....

This review is from: RAIDMAX Cobra RX-600AF-B 600W ATX 12V v2.3 / EPS 12V SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Power Supply

Pros: Quiet
Cool looking
A lot of connections

Cons: Failed after 6 months of use

Other Thoughts: I have seen a few reviews here with the same situation, so the real question here is, was it on purpose? Or just a coincidence that they all gave out at 6 months? My recommendation is to get another PSU maybe a little bit expensive but of better quality.

Manufacturer Response:

2 out of 5 eggsNoisy

This review is from: RAIDMAX Cobra RX-600AF-B 600W ATX 12V v2.3 / EPS 12V SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Power Supply

Pros: Powers the computer without issues except for the noise.

Cons: Was very quiet until about 4 weeks of ownership, then became very noisy. The desktop is in the living room with the primary TV, it is so noisy, the computer must be turned off or set for hibernation to watch TV.

Other Thoughts: I will be looking for a replacement. So noisy this is my first review in 15 years of being a New Egg customer!

Manufacturer Response:

1 out of 5 eggsFailed after 6 months.

This review is from: RAIDMAX Cobra RX-600AF-B 600W ATX 12V v2.3 / EPS 12V SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Power Supply

Pros: Price was good, and when it worked, it worked fine.

Cons: Only worked for six months. I expect longer out of what claims to be a good level PSU, hooked into a machine that wasn't taxing this unit at all as far as power consumption.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Customer,
First we like to thank you for your review.

4 out of 5 eggsUpgrade

This review is from: RAIDMAX Cobra RX-600AF-B 600W ATX 12V v2.3 / EPS 12V SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Power Supply

Pros: Cool packaging, no coil whine, easy to install.

Cons: Some of the cords are pretty stiff, and I had an issue with the length of a few of them, hence the 1 egg knockoff.

Other Thoughts: 4th power source for this computer. My original one worked, just was low on wattage for my power needs. Tried a Thermaltake, worked, but had horrific coil whine. Went with a Corsair, and it was DOA. Finally went with this Raidmax, and it's doing everything I need, with no whine. Love it.
