The Thermaltake TR2 (W0093RU) is a 500 Watt power supply unit ideal for high-end multi-card systems. Perfectly blending power, price, and functionality, and compatible with the ATX12V 2.0 standard, it's a sharp value and a powerful player. The high efficiency design (which saves power) and the large 120 mm fan keeps it up and running under the most strenuous circumstances. The unique design and position of the fan optimizes airflow while reducing noise. The side air vents and mirror-casing design further increase airflow and also enhance cooling considerably.
One main connector (20 + 4 pin), one 12V (P4), one PCI-E, eight peripheral, four SATA, and two floppy connectors are more than enough for all your components. Active PFC improves efficiency, and over current, over voltage, and short-circuit protection shield your critical components from errant power fluctuations. The LED indicator indicates whether the power supply is in standby mode (orange) or is running normally (green). The TR2 500W supports both Intel and AMD-based systems.
Thermaltake is known for steady reliable power and great cooling. This one's no exception.

Finally a Product Worth Bragging About!
- Pros: I purchased 3 Thermaltake PS's, 2-500's and 1-700. These PS's are great. Very quiet, well built, nice paint, and fits perfectly. What else could one ask for? Oh yes, a five year warrenty...done! Thermaltake is the only campany that I have found that offers that. If you need more power the 700 is very nice, heavy too. Lots of plugs and power. I spend hours researching before I buy anything and this power supply is one of the best I have found.
- Cons: I wish I had spent the extra bucks and bought the Tt Toughpower 850. SLI duo is in my near future.
- Other Thoughts: I recently built 3 home PC's from scratch and Newegg did an excellent job with instock items and of course their lightning fast shipping. Thanks Newegg!!
Thermaltake's are always solid. Nice PS.
- Pros: Very stable voltages on all rails, only about 1% difference all around. 120mm fan is very quiet. Mesh on cables cleans up appearance. Cable lengths are more than adequate. Plenty of SATA connectors and 4-pin power.
- Cons: Only has 2 cables of molex connectors with a daisy-chain of 4 molex and one floppy connector on each one. Would of been better to have 4 cables of 2 for cleaner cable routing if you have a side window in your case and to maximize airflow. This way you could tuck the unused ones away.
- Other Thoughts: Overall a solid PS. Getting it with rebate, made it even more attractive. I think a 120mm fan is a must now a days on a Power Supply. Coming from an older Thermaltake with 2- 80mm fans, this is whisper quiet while moving alot of air.

After 3+ years, still going strong
- Pros: Bought this back in September 2006. It has been going strong for all these years without a single hitch. Just wanted to let everyone know since I saw a few reviews saying it crapped out.
- Cons: None
- Other Thoughts: Back on 09/15/06 I bought this along with:
-Abit AT8 32x -Athlon 64 x2 3800+ -2 GB Corsair DDR PC3200 -Sapphire X1900XT -Auzentech X-Plosion
I had replaced the X1900XT with a X1950XTX and have been using this as my main gaming rig. I still can play many games @ 1080p resolutions on MAX settings. The new Batman game runs pretty well, Crysis sucks, Source engine games run great, Guild Wars easy, Burnout Paradise flies, Need for Speed Shift runs choppy.
Good replacement in a pinch
- Pros: Stays quiet with the automatic fan speed control, looks nice with the mirror finish and wrapped cables, no power issues so far running at about 80% (400W) of max load.
- Cons: Not a lot of fancy features.
- Other Thoughts: I bought it to replace a toasted PSU in my old Athlon XP system, made possible by the 20+4 ATX connector. It's worked flawlessly for 10 months now but is connected to a UPS.
Fail once, shame on you, fail twice shame on me
- Pros: A well performing PSU that does everything it claims, except have long longevity.
- Cons: Original PSU was purchased to replace the one that came with a normal case when the system was originally built, lasted for around 16 months and died under warranty, RMA'd it to Thermaltake and used the replacement until it died tonight during a reboot, lasted about 2 years.
- Other Thoughts: I've been working with computers for 15 years and have never had a PSU fail on me before these two Thermaltakes in the same system. As I see this is now a common occurrence with many other reviewers I am also going to have to say that I am done with purchasing anything from Thermaltake.
