1 out of 5 eggsHorrible Squeal / Squeeking when scrolling

Pros: quiet, flexible wiring is convenient.

Cons: HORRIBLE squealing noise when I scroll mildly complicated web content ... for instance, the NewEgg email adverts - just scroll it and this power supply makes a noise like someone threw some screws in to a tiny transmission.

I have isolated the noise to the power supply - it's not from the Video Card. Both PCI power supplies for the Video card (Gigabyte 5870) are plugged into the red plugs on the power supply (2 6-pin PCI) also tried plugging it into different plugs on the power supply as well as using the 2 6-pin cables that are hard wired to the power supply.

750W with 2 hard drives and a SINGLE high end card isn't enough?

I'm looking at building 5 more similar systems and I would like to have used Thermaltake but obviously I can't be delivering systems that can't scroll quietly.

So, for the questions that might come up, yes, updated the latest video bios for the Gigabyte - did same noise both before and after

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Customer,
We at Thermaltake apologize for the inconvenience this may have caused you. Please contact ttsupport@thermaltakeusa.com for warranty service.
Best regards,

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Modular, plenty of steady power for my older agp system.

Replaced an Ultra PSU 600 which the fan was dying a slow death. (worst part is only had it for 5 months)

Cons: I didn't get mine from newegg...

But a great investment for my machine...

3 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Very quiet, like the modularity, plenty of power for my system (optical x2, HDD x3), fit easily in my mid-sized tower.

Cons: Since it's modular it would be really nice to include different options for IDE vs SATA cables. Had to get a separate adapter to connect my SATA drives since this only has one SATA cord and (as mentioned elsewhere) it doesn't stretch very far between drives.

Other Thoughts: Good idea, better if it really made use of the modular capabilities.

5 out of 5 eggsNice!

Pros: No problems, great cooling and I love the detachable cables for easy space-saving. Runs very quiet!

Cons: Installing this into a Pre-Constructed case makes it look bestial. The back of it comes very close to touching my 5.25" bays, also making it harder to manuever the cables. And the cable sleeves look nice and all, but they are harder to bend, so be ready for some work to get your layout right.

Other Thoughts: Powering my Compaq Presario SR5710Y and is WAY underused, but nescesarry for the GPU.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat PSU

Pros: Love this thing! The voltages are nice, and there's no sudden drops. The modular cords are also wonderful. Can handle any overclocking I want to do. Also like the dedicated 6 pin PCI-E cord.

Cons: The SATA power rail is the worst part. The distance from the psu to the first sata power plug is fine, but the distance between the two sata's is very short. Don't plan on getting a HDD and an optical drive unless they are next to each other, or at most, one drive bay separating them. Minus 1 egg.

Other Thoughts: It is a little big for my case. I had an Antec 350W in previously, and there is a safety clip that could stabilize the psu w/o any screws in. This is an extra 1/2 inch longer, so that clip is squished behind it. The four case screws in back hold it in place just fine.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat buy

Pros: Great little power supply and Modular. Perfect for the "normal" builds (no Crossfire X or SLI). Very clean looking and the fan if pretty quiet.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: This is the second Thermaltake P/S I have gotten from the egg and well I loved it. I have the big brother to this (700 Crossfire cert'd P/S) on my build and it is perfect....This is on a friends build with a Asus M2R32-MVP (my old mobo), 6400 X2 Black edition, 2 gigs of OCZ ati cert'd ram, Visiontek 3450, 250 gig WD caviar, and LG DVD....It has no issues with this setup. Runs smooth and quiet.

5 out of 5 eggsVery Nice

Pros: I actually stole this from my moms build as I was building a pc at the same time and decided I like her power supply (this one) better than the fortron source one I had. I love the modular connectors and the fact that they put little grips on each one of the power connectors for easy installation/removal. Runs extremely quiet and keeps everything nice and cool. Good price for included features and brand. If your thinking about getting this, just buy it.

Cons: None I can think of.

Other Thoughts: Thermaltake has proven themselves well amongst me and my friends, hats off to another good product.
