The Thermaltake Black Widow 850W power supply just looks cool! Too bad it'll remain hidden in your case. Sturdily built, it’s SLI and Dual-Core ready, but really shines in CrossFire testing! Most important in any PSU is the 12V rail supply. Most components pick up off of that rail. The Toughpower has one +12V rail so you're guaranteed crisp, clean power delivery. The rail can handle 18 Amps of overload before a safety shutdown occurs.

The mirror effect housing silent 140mm fan and Noise Preventive Silicon Pad help reduce vibrations and noise emissions, increase airflow and cooling and, thus improve performance.

One Main connector (20 + 4 pin), one 12V (8+4 pin), eight peripherals, six SATA, two Floppy, and four PCI-E connectors will cover all your components. Four next generation +12V rails support high-end PC systems and twinned graphics cards. This is a heavy-duty, serious power supply designed to bring you enough power for any potential configuration and a great value. Get one today, and let your foes feel the power!

2 out of 5 eggsTook a dump

Pros: None

Cons: The semi-modular part left a lot of stuff not needed to it still cluttered up the case. The fan bearing starting making a lot of noise just prior to the expiration of the warranty. The wanted to RMA it but has an ETA of 3month.... so I bought another power supply that was fully modular.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Customer,
Turn around time is about 3 to 5 business days to ship out replacement unit. After defective product/parts receive by RMA department.

4 out of 5 eggsStill going after all these years

Pros: I bought this on Oct. 12, 2012

Today is April 4, 2015

I first ran it with one Gigabyte WindForce GTX670 (factory OC on 680 PCB) then a year later bought another identical GTX670 for SLI. Been running that for a couple years now.

I have always OC'd my CPU from day one, never ran it at stock speed ever.
I run it at about 4.1ghz most of the time, stock speed is something like 3.6ghz..

This PSU has been solid since day one and I do not plan on upgrading my rig for another couple years.

Current voltage:
+3.3v - 3.312v
+5v - 5.015v
+12 - 12.036v

System Specs:

Processor: AMD FX 8150 Zambezi @ 4.2ghz
RAM: G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 16GB (4 x 4GB) DDR3 1866
RAM Timings: 9-10-9-2
Graphics: GIGABYTE Windforce "GV-N670OC-2GD" GTX 670 2GB 256-bit GDDR (x2 SLI)
Mainboard: ASUS M5A99FX PRO R2.0 AM3+ AMD 990FX UEFI BIOS
Power Supply: Thermaltake Black Widow W0319RU 850W ATX 12V v2.3, EPS 12V v2.91 CrossFire Certified 80 PLUS BRONZE
Operating System: Windows 7 (64-bit) Ultimate
Primary Display: 52" SHARP Aquos - HDMI
Cooling: COOLER MASTER Hyper 212 EVO RR-212E-20PK-R2 Continuous Direct Contact - x2 120mm Sleeve CPU Cooler (push - pull)
Hard Drive: Western Digital WD Black WD1002FAEX 1TB 7200 RPM 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive (x3)
Computer Case: Rosewill BLACKHAWK Gaming ATX Mid Tower

I have a bunch of fans running at low speed, but they speed up when gaming, this CPU needs a lot of cooling and careful airflow management when pushed hard.

Cons: I have seen no in-depth review of this EXACT PSU from someone who has pulled it apart and inspected the build quality and components and thoroughly tested it on a bench, as far as I can tell, so it may be "junk", but mine works great.

Other Thoughts: 4 stars because I just don't know how good it is or how bad it is. It works for me, but I could just be lucky.

To me it feels too heavy to be complete garbage, and it looks to be high quality.

For my next major PSU purchase, I will do more research. I gambled on this one, but I won.

3 out of 5 eggsIt was great, while it lasted

Pros: Quiet, purrrtyyyy, Cross Shipping RMA

Cons: Now I would've given this product a five for the speed of RMA and the 5 Year Warranty

Other Thoughts: , BUT I recently RMA'd it and I received a "comparable" replacement, but upon closer inspection to the unit I noticed some key differences (Seeing as they didn't make my unit anymore)

1. The unit is smaller and made of a cheaper material
2. The cords are of lesser quality
3. It is much more colorful and the labels are scratched off

So while you get great ratings for everything else ThermalTake
I would've appreciated some love on the ACTUAL Unit you replaced my "not in production" model with....

1 out of 5 eggsNo good

Pros: None

Cons: Everything that could go wrong with a power supply has done so in less than 1 year. I've tried multiple times to get a hold of Thermaltakes customer service (email/phone) and I have not had a single reply. I would not recommend this product

Manufacturer Response:

5 out of 5 eggsBang for your buck

Pros: This thing was a steal when I bought it, I caught it on sale for 89.99 with a $20 rebate which made it 69.99. Has more than enough wattage to power a system that's borderline top of the line gaming system. And the name is just awesome!

Cons: None

1 out of 5 eggsDied after 2 years

Pros: A lot of convenient connectors.

Cons: Died after 2 years and one month. Customer service requires original receipt for a free repair (even if it has 5 years of warranty), which I don't have because I bought it in a local retailer.

Other Thoughts: Pricy and unreliable.

1 out of 5 eggsBad PSU and bad customer service

Pros: Modular Cable

Cons: After using little over 2 years, my PSU is dead. In fact, it may have caused my MOBO fried. My pc had "the blue screen" intermittenly. I also wonder if the PSU caused it as well. After going through the "pin" test I confirmed that the PSU is deal. I emailed the customer service for warranty, but no reply. I called the customer service few days later. No one picked up the phone.
I ordered Corsair instead.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Customer,
We at Thermaltake apologize for the inconvenience this may have caused you. We can replace it through warranty service. Please contact our customer service team for RMA instructions.

5 out of 5 eggsBest PSU I've ever owned.

Pros: I bought this PSU back in 2007, to run a pair of 8800 GT's in SLI mode, so I could play the original Crysis game when it game out.

Since then, this PSU has been through 3 rebuilds... ran a GTX 275, a Radeon 5850, a Radeon 6950... and has ran strong with all of them. Current system is an i5-2500K OC'd at 4.6ghz stable, Radeon 6950, Plextor 256gb SDD w/ WD 1TB HDD, H50 Hydro cooler, 8GB G.Skill DDR3-1600 and a Creative X-Fi Titantium Fatal1ty Pro Series card and an LG BluRay drive... planning on upgrading that 6950 in the near future to 4gb GTX 760 or 770... and yes planning to keep using this PSU with it for as long as continues to last!

This PSU replaced an Enermax that I used to have, I used to be a big Enermax fan, but their PSU's always blew out... for almost 10 years, I kept replacing them every 2 - 3 years, until I just could not afford to replace with a newer Enermax with the power requirements I needed for planned 8800 GT SLI set up, so I bought this one for $100 less!

I must say I have not for one instant, ever regretted that decision!

Going on 7 years use now, and still running like it was new out of the box! Hoping it continues to last much longer, but if and when it ever does go out, I do plan on buying another one if I can ever find one... either that, or I'll buy another high end Thermaltake model!

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: This PSU is more then worth it if you can ever find any more out there! This is a real work horse!

5 out of 5 eggsReliable

Pros: I bought this when I was building my gaming computer, and it have never failed me. I have an open air case so over-heating is never an issue, and it has always been very reliable.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Always make sure that your power supply is strong enough to handle your computer. I've heard nightmare stories from my friends about that.
