Pros: Concept is great...

Cons: This is my 2nd unit. First one failed of the box. I've had this one for a 1 1/2 months and now it no longer works. Completely disappointed!

4 out of 5 eggsBe Careful

Pros: Plugged in a hard drive and it worked as expected.

Cons: Pulled out the drive and the flap broke.So just take it out carefully.I cocked it a little when I pulled it out just enough to break the plastic pin on the flap.Not worth RMA'ing it I can use it that way.I guess it was my own dumb fault anyway.Just wanted to warn others to take out 3.5 drive carefully.

Other Thoughts: I am satisfied with new egg's service.I gave it 4 eggs because the door or flap whatever you call it was rather cheap in design.I believe they could of manufactured it somewhat better but made in China probably so you get cheap.

4 out of 5 eggsEverything I wanted

Pros: Works right of the box
small, nice looking design

Cons: The power button is sensitive and can easily be bumped to turn off during a process. This can be dangerous.

Other Thoughts: This thing saved my life. I had a HFS+ formatted HD that wouldn't work in in's old case or the new case I bought for it. Now I never have to waste money on an external enclosure again.

4 out of 5 eggsWell and Cheap

Pros: This devices works great! With multiple machines. I've been using this for a year now and it's faster transfer rates then any of my USB based external hard drives. Easy to swap drives and formatting/imaging drives is easy as can be!

Cons: The only problem I had was the Esata cable is a bit cheap. it broke after a while of use (6 months). Other then that this is great!

Other Thoughts: I would buy it again. It make my home PC repair and data management easy!

5 out of 5 eggsAMAZING DOCK

Pros: This dock is the best i have ever used. 100% hassle free, plug and play and no driver issues.

- drives fit good (no extra space for wiggle)
- fast transfer speed over usb and e-sata
- no drivers needed!
- eject buttons work good for tight sata connectors
- plenty of power (i ran 2x wd velociraptor drives both on speed tests and no power drop)
- great for quick plug and play for backing up bad data corruption (freezer method particularly)

Cons: not sure if its a con per say but one power button powers on both drives.

Other Thoughts: Great dock and is perfect if your a computer tech

5 out of 5 eggsSturdy and Reliable

Pros: · eSATA / USB 2.0
· Hot swappable
· Solid design, feel
· Out of box functionality (works like it's supposed to)
· Got a $20 rebate from Thermaltake

Cons: · Both drives dismount and remount when swapping.
· Unused bay will gather dust.
· eSATA cable is stiff and short. (This may be how they are all designed.)
· Quirky eject mechanism.

Other Thoughts: You can only use both bays with eSATA if you have port multiplying on your eSATA card. According to Intel (and my exhaustive research for a clear answer on the internet), only dedicated cards will have port multiplying. So if it's onboard, sorry, chances are it's not going to be port multiplying.

That's not a fault of this device. Also, USB 2.0 has PM and the two bays work with that setup.

When using USB 2.0 (didn't test this with eSATA), adding or removing one drive will dismount everything and remount. Keep that in mind.

The speed is great. I have not experienced data loss (knock on wood).

The bay "doors" have an odd shape with a gap that will let in dust in an unused drive bay. (Why??) I have a post-it over the gap on the empty drive.

The "eject" button is essentially an inside lever that raises the drive. So you have to press and hold the button then grab the drive to remove it. If you press and release the button, then the drive will just set back down and partially

1 out of 5 eggsDrives Keep Disappearing

Pros: * Ability to mount 2x2TB drives
* eSata connector
* Ease of use
* Customer support is good

Cons: * They fail often

Other Thoughts: I bought one of these several months back to use as a backup system. I wanted to mount two 2TB drives, and use them to back up my network. Using eSata I connected it to my Windows 2008 Server, and everything worked as advertised. I use Robocopy to back up my network shares. 2 weeks later the drives began to disappear, then when I restarted the toaster the drives reported that they needed to be reformatted. This happened with Western Digital as well as Hitachi 2TB drives. I tried this for about three months trying to get it to work.

When I contacted Thermaltake, they said the device isn't certified for Windows 2008 Server. I moved it to my Windows 7 machine, but I had the same results. It IS certified for Windows 7. Using their support website I got an RMA, and returned the device. I have a second one now, and have used it for about 3 weeks. It has begun to do the same thing as the first one. This tells me that the problem is with the device, not the OS.
