5 out of 5 eggsThermaltake tpx1475 m review by ace

This review is from: Thermaltake Toughpower XT TPX-1475M 1475W ATX 12V 2.3 & SSI EPS 12V 2.92 SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: The Warranty length is great. Made with Good solid components. Gold efficiency rating. Plenty of sata and pci-e power connectors. 4way SLI and 4way Crossfire compatible. Plenty of length In all of the supplied cables. Would work great for a mining rig.

Cons: no cons available at this time, will update in the future if there is a problem. Only one I can think of is that it is not fully modular, but I knew that before I got it. so it's not a con in my opinion.

This review is from: Thermaltake Toughpower XT TPX-1475M 1475W ATX 12V 2.3 & SSI EPS 12V 2.92 SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: worked for 2 hours

Cons: Something broke, it was running great for 2 hours not under max load or anything, just 1 r9-290 and I rebooted after for updates and it wouldn't turn back on, The lights were lit on the sides, but it didn't have enough to power the mobo. Switched out the psu to confirm

5 out of 5 eggsBest PSU I've ever owned

This review is from: Thermaltake Toughpower XT TPX-1475M 1475W ATX 12V 2.3 & SSI EPS 12V 2.92 SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: * Insanely high efficiency. Added a beefier psu and my electric bill will actually go DOWN a tiny bit.

* I am using this PSU in a very large case, and all the wires were plenty long. Even those with very large cases like a Cosmos II should have no problems.

* After reading some other reviews, I was concerned my unit would arrive with a 18ga cable. I was happy to see it came with a 14ga. Thermaltake has fixed this problem.

* Insane amount of SATA connectors, this is the only PSU I have owned where I have been able to hook up all my hdd's without adapters (see specs)

* Quiet! The psu actually doesn't even turn on the fan unless it needs to. I ran my system for 15 minutes before it decided to start spinning.

* Powers everything in my system very well. Not even a hint of an issue (see specs)

Cons: The only thing I can come up with is that while this PSU is mostly modular, it is not fully so. My motherboard only uses one EPS12v connector, not two. Had to zip tie the 2nd back out of the way. Maybe add one hardwired PCI-E connector and one modular EPS12v connector? Everyone is going to use one, but many don't use both.

2 out of 5 eggsPerformed below rating

This review is from: Thermaltake Toughpower XT TPX-1475M 1475W ATX 12V 2.3 & SSI EPS 12V 2.92 SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: Great voltage regulation and low line noise.

Cons: Unit failed to sustain a system load of more than 1260 watts; 215 watts short of its claimed 24/7, 7 year guarantee rating after 1 week of use. Internal protection circuitry tripped every time, verified by Kill-a-Watt meter (assuming 88% efficient).

Computer is mining with 4x 290 (non-X) XFX Black cards with undervolted, optimized bioses.

Sounds like if yours works @ 100% rated then its probably the exception rather than the standard. I wouldn't pay more for this (1475w) or the 1375w unit than a 1200w eVga, LEPA or CoolerMaster; since Thermaltake seems to be unreliable at over 1200w anyways and those other 3 have proven 100% reliable, even at extreme loads.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat PSU

This review is from: Thermaltake Toughpower XT TPX-1475M 1475W ATX 12V 2.3 & SSI EPS 12V 2.92 SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: I have been Mining BTC and LTC with 4 7970's for over a year with this PSU. I must say it runs cool, and has plenty of cables for quad gpu setups. It has operated flawlessly and even when the house power flickers the system keeps running.

Cons: heavy

Other Thoughts: I would like to see two 6 pin to 8 pin pcie adapters included.

4 out of 5 eggsGood PSU

This review is from: Thermaltake Toughpower XT TPX-1475M 1475W ATX 12V 2.3 & SSI EPS 12V 2.92 SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: This is a good PSU, I don't know why the posters above say that it only can power 3 cards. I run 4x R9 290 GPUs with this and I have all 4 of the cards overclocked to 1000/1500 when mining. I have 1 GPU on the MB and 3x GPUs on PCI Riser cables with Molex connectors to give it extra power.

Cons: The fan makes a clicking noise when starting up. It isn't fully modular.

4 out of 5 eggsPower Limitations - For people having issues

This review is from: Thermaltake Toughpower XT TPX-1475M 1475W ATX 12V 2.3 & SSI EPS 12V 2.92 SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: Works great - if it's not DOA.

Cons: 1 of the 4 I had purchased was DOA. A friend of mine bought 2 and had one DOA. RMA's are easy enough, just inconvenient.

Other Thoughts: For everyone saying "It can't power my 3 or 4 GPU's" - you need to look at the box or the manual. The PCI-E +12v 2 rail can only push 900W. Three R9 290's running at 100% will max that out and force you to use adapters to power the fourth card from the +12v 1 system rail (an EPS to 8-pin PCI-E adapter, and dual molex to 6-pin PCI-E). If the system abruptly shuts down as soon as it starts picking up steam, it's because you're trying to run 4 beefy cards off the PCI-E Rail.

This review is from: Thermaltake Toughpower XT TPX-1475M 1475W ATX 12V 2.3 & SSI EPS 12V 2.92 SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: Solid PSU, nice bulk, power indicator LEDs are a nice feature. There are only three fixed power cables for the MB power, and there are ample PSU connectors.

Cons: would prefer a manual fan speed selector.

Other Thoughts: i will buy more of these.
