2 out of 5 eggsPower Cables way too short

This review is from: Thermaltake SP-1000M 1000W ATX 12V 2.3 & EPS 12V 2.92 SLI CrossFire 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Full Modular Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: Able to turn on

Cons: Power (non-modular) cables are way too short. 8-Pin was the biggest pain out of building my whole rig.

Other Thoughts: Don't think about this product unless you are using a top-mounted PSU. I pretty much wasted my money on this product. Will check competitors next time around

5 out of 5 eggsThermal-TANK

This review is from: Thermaltake SP-1000M 1000W ATX 12V 2.3 & EPS 12V 2.92 SLI CrossFire 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Full Modular Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: Beast of a power supply, runs smooth and quiet, and lowered my power usage by 6%

Cons: NONE YET!

Other Thoughts: My previous Thermaltake kept running after one of the coils experienced a "minor blue smoke of death" moment. These things are built to last and totally worth the money.

3 out of 5 eggswish they would fix some easy things

This review is from: Thermaltake SP-1000M 1000W ATX 12V 2.3 & EPS 12V 2.92 SLI CrossFire 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Full Modular Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: Ive used Thermaltake for many years and their power supplies last 6+ years at 50% -75% full use a day.

Fits great, works great, quite, Super good power, Cable management system allows for just the correct amount of cables (no worries about trying to hide the extra cables)

Cons: BIG COMPLAINT
also why i gave it 3 eggs'

The MAIN power cables are still too short by 4 inches
Most power supplies are going into Mid to full towers.
and they know that graphic cards are long and thick why do they insist on making these things so short.

Also noted:
As newer chassis are on the line up they removed the 4 pin molex connector in favor of 3 pin fan power cables
This power supply does not offer any solution for those Rigs (very disappointing)
( i understand that the 3 pin is so i can goto the M/B and be controlled though M/B settings But a majority of GOOD high end RIGS have support built in why not give the user a choice)

Other Thoughts: Over all i gave it 3 eggs
if there was a 3.5 it would get it.

its not 5 eggs due to the main power length,
and due to a $5 dollar cable not being included is gets 3

Overall the power supply is good and if it last me another 6 years than the rating will become better.

5 out of 5 eggsThe required cables are fixed...

This review is from: Thermaltake SP-1000M 1000W ATX 12V 2.3 & EPS 12V 2.92 SLI CrossFire 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Full Modular Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: This is just in response to the comment about it not being "fully modular". Yes, it's not 100% modular in the sense that there are fixed cables. I will say that this is a non-issue as the fixed cables are the required minimum for any Intel or AMD system. There is no reason for the 24-pin and 12v rails to be modular as they are ALWAYS required.

Cons: None

5 out of 5 eggsAnother Solid Thermaltake P/S

This review is from: Thermaltake SP-1000M 1000W ATX 12V 2.3 & EPS 12V 2.92 SLI CrossFire 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Full Modular Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: This is the fourth Thermaltake modular power supply that I've purchased and have purchased nothing but Thermaltake for the last four power supplies that I needed. The quality of construction for the unit and cabling is very good. This particular power supply was needed as I'm building a storage server with 12 hard drives and it has 12 native connections for SATA.

Cons: Thermaltake changed the modular plugs from a 6-pin to an 8-pin between the TR2 and Smart series modular supplies so I can't swap out the four that I have, only the two TR2's and the now two Smart units. It's not worth the loss of an egg, just be aware if you've purchased several Thermaltake modular power supplies in hopes that they all interconnect.

4 out of 5 eggsSo far so good

This review is from: Thermaltake SP-1000M 1000W ATX 12V 2.3 & EPS 12V 2.92 SLI CrossFire 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Full Modular Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: Modular design and low price for the power

Cons: Poor instructions

Other Thoughts: First off, the four star rating is due to the utter lack of good instructions. Instructions are so important and they are definitely worth a star. I just bought a second GPU and needed more power so I looked and found this 1000W PSU for under $100. It seemed like a no-brainer to me so I bought it. It was easy to set up and all of the cords you could need are included. The modular design really helps keep down clutter. I found the lack of instructions to be unsettling and I would not want to be a newbee setting up a computer with this. I can see that from my own experience it could be confusing for some people. I wasn't sure how to hook up the PCI-e cable because it says it includes six but it only has three. Each PCI-e cable has two connections on the GPU end though, one 8-pin and one 6+2-pin. I wasn't sure if this was supposed to do the job of a traditional single GPU connector but with an extra connection for ease of use added or if I was supposed to connect it to both of the power connectors on the GPUs. Well, critical thinking won out and I deduced that it was a great design because it takes one PCI-e cable and lets it do the job of the 8-pin and the 6-pin all on one cable. This made the set up very easy as it only took two modular cables to set up Crossfire and one cable for the SATA devices for a total of three modular cables and the two power cables that are built in to the PSU for the motherboard. I found that this five cable set up left plenty of room for airflow. Although this isn't the high end of the PSU market I think it will do the job for me.

1 out of 5 eggsCheck the picture.

This review is from: Thermaltake SP-1000M 1000W ATX 12V 2.3 & EPS 12V 2.92 SLI CrossFire 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Full Modular Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: I'm sure it's a lovely PSU...

Cons: ...but I'm also certain that it's not FULLY modular. Just check the picture. Clearly, there is a giant wad of cables coming out of it that aren't modular whatsoever.

I even went on TT's website, and it's the same picture. So it's not like there's just a wrong picture on Newegg. Indeed, every picture I've found shows the hard-wired cables.

Other Thoughts: Just tidy up the title and description, TT.

Glad I didn't buy this thinking it was what the title claimed, I would have been a very sad panda indeed.
