3 out of 5 eggsThermaltake TR2 TR-600 600W ATX12V v2.3 SLI CrossFire Power Supply

This review is from: Thermaltake TR2 TR-600 600W ATX12V v2.3 SLI CrossFire Power Supply

Pros: It turns on lets me use the web browser.

Cons: My PC shuts down after game play on full load with a Nvidia GTX 560, it doesn't handle my video card I am sure is lower than 600 watts or defective.

Other Thoughts: maybe I should of looked more into the reviews before i bought it, because it claimed to have a bullet proof protection is why i bought it.

2 out of 5 eggsUneven Fan Noise

This review is from: Thermaltake TR2 TR-600 600W ATX12V v2.3 SLI CrossFire Power Supply

Pros: Still Working

Cons: Fan started making noise not long after PSU was installed in low power requirement PC. Fan noise is not smooth even noise of normal operation but is cycling noise with grating tones like fan blade is unbalanced and bearing is bad. PSU is still working but sound is irritating. Question seems to be when PSU will fail, not if it will.

1 out of 5 eggsWorked for 11 months then took out my MOBO

This review is from: Thermaltake TR2 TR-600 600W ATX12V v2.3 SLI CrossFire Power Supply

Pros: Worked flawlessly for 11 months.

Cons: Was sitting by my computer (while it was OFF) and heard the sound of firecrackers going off inside the PS itself. Immediately unplugged it. Carefully plugged it back in after a few minutes and nothing. Pulled the PS and installed a new one and nothing. Had to replace the MOBO and PS. Thankfully it didn't fry my processor, memory, or drives. Bad could have ended up as HORRIBLE. Will try to get a replacement.

Other Thoughts: I will be scared to put this inside a nice computer. Might use (if I get a replacement) as a back up spare or place inside a cheap computer. I am the kind of person who spends $50 on a MOBO instead of $200. They seem to last the same as the expensive ones and have quite the value now days. I would have been really upset if I was out $200!!!

3 out of 5 eggsIt works for now

This review is from: Thermaltake TR2 TR-600 600W ATX12V v2.3 SLI CrossFire Power Supply

Pros: -Works for me
-Quiet
-Had all of the cables I needed

Cons: -Non-modular (My own fault for not checking)
-Some of the cables were kind of long for my case/motherboard.
-Not 80+ bronze certified (My own fault for not checking)

Other Thoughts: When I got this, I would say I was still a noob as far as building Pc's went. Then I had it setting around in the box for about a month until I got the rest of my parts for my Pc. I would know say I'm pretty knowledgeable about PC's, I've watched a ton of videos, read more than enough stuff on reddit, and even built my own Pc. I kind of regret buying this because it's non-modular, which was a pain cause I'm new to cable management, but it works for what I need. I'm going to try to get a modular PSU soon, but I'll keep this one around as a back up in case I ever need one.

1 out of 5 eggscheap

This review is from: Thermaltake TR2 TR-600 600W ATX12V v2.3 SLI CrossFire Power Supply

Pros: cheap price

Cons: Bought the unit cause it was cheap. Setup the psu with an Intel Core i5 4670k (not overclocked), nvidia gtx 660 sc with 4 fans. Had it for 2 months and the psu constantly shutdown my pc when it was under heavy load. Did some research and found out that people had the same problem with the PSU. Switched out the PSU with a Corsair that had the same wattage and a higher price, but everything worked fine after the switch. No more random shutdowns under heavy loads.
