5 out of 5 eggsWorks as advertised

Pros: No hassle installation of HDD from brand new laptop (laptop runs from SSD) . Using throgh USB3 port as a backup drive. Slick and nice gear.

Cons: None so far, hopefully ever.

Other Thoughts: Has an additional 5V DC socket, adapter has to be bought separately. Might be useful for energy hungry drives.

5 out of 5 eggsNo issues

Pros: Easy install of disk.
Just install software, and follow prompts.
Switched drives and booted up.
Not a single issue.

Cons: I have no cons.

Other Thoughts: Inexpensive way to upgrade a notebook. Much faster boot times and a longer battery life.

1 out of 5 eggsUseless

Pros: Nice for external hard drive case

Cons: Almost useless for new Advanced Format hdd

Other Thoughts: To clone an old 512 setor drive to a new advanced format drive is a nightmare if u dont know what u are doing. It is not "as easy as 1-2-3". Put the new drive in the laptop, old drive in the usb case, turn off fast in options, check do not change partition size, 4k alignment on. If u set up the old drive with vista or 7 u should b aligned when finished. Any other way and it will give u a sector size error or the new drive will not b aligned.

5 out of 5 eggsEasy laptop drive cloning.

Pros: This little unit makes drive upgrades and cloning very simple and easy. You might want to use another software such as EASEUS or clonezilla as the supplied software is finicky but OK with NTFS.

Cons: A little pricy but sometimes Newegg has rebates or sales.

Other Thoughts: Nice little pocket drive holder. Sturdy and well made.

1 out of 5 eggsFree for a Reason

Pros: Solid construction.
Nice rubber feet.
Quick release opening.
SATA and IDE internal connections.
It worked for a couple of days once.

Cons: Drops out randomly on my Macbook Pro. This can vary from seconds (usually) to a couple of days once. It isn't due to USB power supply, a 0.3 watt SSD and a Seagate HD acted the same, and both work in an enclosure by a competing brand.
Corrupts data, even when reading.

Other Thoughts: I got this as a free promo with a new Intel SSD drive. I thought the drive was bad. It turned out to be the case. It's disappointing that something as solidly crafted as this case is so utterly useless.

5 out of 5 eggsWOW, they still make it?

Pros: I have owned this for a few years, and upgraded my Averatec from a 75gb to a 500gb. It was my first HDD upgrade and it was the easiest thing I've done to a laptop. I am looking to buy another to put away for my next laptop, I never have enough space on the factory drive.

Cons: The directions are not very detailed, I remember hoping I was doing it all correctly as not to lose all my info!

Other Thoughts: There are step by step videos on how to use this correctly that were put out some 2+ years ago. I bet if you google it, those videos are still around. VERY USEFULL!!!

1 out of 5 eggsPain with MacBook Pro

Pros: Aluminum case is well designed and installing a drive is very easy. The aqua color looks great.

Cons: Randomly disconnects from my Macs. I've had 20+ disconnects after 10-30 minutes of having the drive connected and trying to do a backup or image.

Also doesn't work as USB drive for my Netgear wndr3700.

Other Thoughts: I stupidly bought 2 of these, one for a friend. We are both very disappointed.

4 out of 5 eggsWorks great...... when you finally figure it out.

Pros: Works great!!! Perfect exact copy of original HDD!!!!

Cons: Instructions are worthless!!!!!!!

Other Thoughts: Upgrading Toshiba L355D-S7901 Laptop from 250GB to 750GB 7,200 rpm WD Scorpio. Followed instructions and kept getting message saying new HDD was too big and system would not support this. Did what others did here and put new HDD in laptop, original in enclosure. Used advanced option menu and everything worked like it should. Throw instructions away, install new HDD in laptop, boot from EZ-Gig disc, use advanced options, sit back and watch TV.
