The Sabrent SBT-EKU25 external enclosure sports a super slim design that gives a sleek look to this value-laden unit. It features an ultra light aluminum case for strength and rigidity, crucial to a portable device like this. An LED indicator gives you clear power and hard disc status indicators.

You can now reuse any old 2.5" IDE hard drive as a portable external storage device, giving you easy access and storage expandability to your desktop or notebook PC. The USB 2.0 interface allows for faster 480 Mbps data transfers, enabling you to make your internal IDE drive into a USB 2.0 drive, even supporting USB 1.1 and UDMA/100 specifications. Plug-and-play operations and hotswappability means your data can move when and where you need it to.

Bus-power support lets you use the newly enclosed hard drive without connecting to an additional power source. Moreover, it even supports Windows 98, 98 SE, ME, 2000, XP and Mac Os 8.6 and above operating systems. It comes with driver disk, user manual, screwdriver, and carrying case. Cons: This enclusre requires a usb 2.0 port that is attached to the board, it will not power up over usb 2.0 ports on cases for some reason. Other Thoughts: Not worth the price. I wanted it for a 720GB drive so I did not try to test it - why take a chance? Other Thoughts: The aluminum box has a connector insert. It did not mate up with my WD 500GB drive. The 'action' of inserting and removing drives is really nice. Cons: There are proprietary molex power cables which have a lead coming of them for separate power connection to power the activity leads, and a sata for connection to the drive bay. I've never seen this before with ANY hot-swap unit I've installed. Most just get power directly from the sata cable. Other Thoughts: Overall the quality is high and I would buy it again. Cons: Hard drive is a little loose and rattles around.It's not enough to allow the drive to slip out of it's socket.It helps to add a little tissue paper to stop rattling. 1 out of 1 people found this review helpful.
