2 out of 5 eggsBeware

Pros: This enclosure worked great for a little over a year.

Cons: It didn't just stop working - first it blew up a USB hub (thought it was the hub, so I kept using the enclosure), then a motherboard (fried through the USB connection), and, in the process of blowing up the motherboard, the hard drive installed in it as well - along with all of my data.
I had to throw it away and replace the blown hard drive.

Other Thoughts: The power supply seems to have been very unstable after the one year mark. Always plugged into a working APC UPS.

5 out of 5 eggsThe power button is a lie

Pros: The heat really transfers out to the surface of the enclosure. I added some thermal compound on the side to increase the heat transfer. Single output power block makes it easier to plug in (12V @ 2A).

Cons: The image pointed to a power button.. but thats really a piece of plastic that does nothing.

Other Thoughts: I unplug the USB cable to turn it off. I wish there some space to add a 40mm fan, but the vent area on the back is too small.

3 out of 5 eggsOverall a decent product

Pros: It works well and installation was simple. The overall build quality once the unit is put together is very good.

Cons: The unit gets very warm. There is no cooling fan and the included vents do just about nothing. Even though the pictures show the unit having a power button, the one on the enclosure that I received is just a dummy button. It does nothing. Just a solid piece of plastic.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: It works.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: Does what it's supposed to, nothing more, nothing less. At first it seems a little flimsy, but if you attach all the parts and screw it together it becomes pretty stable.

5 out of 5 eggsEasy and works nicely

Pros: Low price but decent quality. Very easy to put together. Had all the parts listed and has a nice LED activity light.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I had never bought one of these before or worked with HDs, but I found this very easy and I would recommend it to anyone.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Very nice unit. Main case frame is an Alum. extrusion. The HD screws directly to this extrusion, so it cool much better than units where the HD just slides inside the case, since there is a thermal connection to the extrusion.

Cons: It would have been nice to have the On/Off switch, like the info shows, but it's a nice unit.

Other Thoughts: Nice looking small unit. I still like fan cooled units for long hours of use, but they are a lot bigger. This is fine for backups.

5 out of 5 eggsGood Case

Pros: Inexpensive.
Very easy to install hard drive.

Cons: No fan.
Needs a power supply.

Other Thoughts: Good case for twenty dollars, I have purchased 5 over a period of a year and have enjoyed all of them.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks the way it should

Pros: This case does what it should do. The case should be warm/hot to the touch because the case is in essence a heat sink. If it wasn't hot the drive would overheat.

Cons: I use this case for my DVR so while watching tv at night the blue light in front gets a little annoying. But a clip of the wires inside the case took care of that issue.

Other Thoughts: As long as you want a external case that doesn't have a fan, this one should work just fine for your needs.
