5 out of 5 eggsStable after 6 months

Pros: Better than OEM
Stable voltages
More than enough power for most OEM systems
Price

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Bought on sale to replace a power supply in a quad core HP desktop I was repairing. No problems and voltage reading looked good even under load. Would not recommend for a high end machine, but this PSU has gone 6 months in a quad core system with Discrete video and no blue screens or other problems

4 out of 5 eggsDoing the Job

Pros: Basic power just beyond what is stock wattage size for off the rack computers. For this install, the motherboard controls the power supply fan speed and there is no noise from the power supply fan except at start up. So in my case it is very quite.

Cons: The connecters were hard to work with because the sockets for older drives have too much play and line up is not easy. Bottom line is take care when hooking the older type drives. I expect this much play in an old used connectors but I don't expect this much play in new components. Cost them one egg.

Other Thoughts: I like to keep a backup power supply on hand but I had to use mine for a repair. So when I read the reviews and saw no DOE's I bought this one. I used it in a machine I had recently installed a 500 watt PS. This supply is more correct in size for the machine and is doing the job.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks well!

Pros: Replaced a power supply that came with a case with this in a budget build with a low end graphics card as well, and runs everything well.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: Lots of connections and is not modular, but I knew this, and for the 21 dollars I paid for it definitely worth it.

4 out of 5 eggsGood Basic PS for the money

Pros: I have used these for the past several weeks on basic systems and have had no problem at all. And when they are on the Shell Shocker special you just can't go wrong for a stable PS for a basic desktop.

Cons: Non that I have found yet for the intended use.

5 out of 5 eggsNAS low power PSU

Pros: Easy to mod - opened and cut out the power leads I am not using in my FREENAS build. Only needed the 24 pin on my Supermicro X7SPE-HF-D525 & run of 3 peripheral (molex) conx. on the LIAN LI Q25 case hotswap backplane. small size was perfect fit in Q25 case for my NAS.

Cons: would have been nice if mounting screws came with PSU, but no biggie....

Other Thoughts: I know it voice warranty, but cracking the cover reveals the simplistic build quality of this PSU. All power leads are soldered direct to circuit board, so cut carefully if you intend to mod.

3 out of 5 eggsMissing fan speed switch

Pros: Works without a fuss.

Cons: Wiring is a bit haphazard, i.e. tough to make wiring look clean due to unmanageable tangling, just a sloppy assembly job on the plugs.
Also, ITEM IS NOT AS PICTURED. There is apparently (as mentioned in other reviews) a feature removed, the fan speed switch. I've owned this model before, so it did in fact exist. It's shown in the picture but not on the actual unit I received. This is quite a disappointment, because it was for a HTPC and the noise is prompting me to buy another.

2 out of 5 eggsmeh

Pros: it's a power supply

Cons: - mine had a big dent in the side! looks like it happened during manufacturing
- I didn't find it quiet at all. I agree with the loud annoying hum comment made by another review
- PSU seemed light to me, always a bad sign

Other Thoughts: it's not crazy loud and it's not for me so... i'm going to use it regardless. But wasn't very impressed and won't buy another Coolmax PSU
