Coolmax has an almost-legendary reputation for innovative and efficient cooling designs. The CA-400 400W Power Supply has a highly-efficient design that reduces power consumption, and a single 80 mm, silent fan provides efficient cooling augmented by sleeved cables reducing clutter. Also, the high-quality fan guard and connectors feature a high-conduction coating completing the thermal control package. Industrial-grade protection circuitry ensures protection from power and voltage surges.

One main connector (20 + 4 pin), one 12V (P4), one SATA, one Floppy, and four peripheral connectors are more than enough for all your components. The COOLMAX CAA-400’s universal connector fits most branded motherboards, and it fully supports all Intel and AMD offerings. Coolmax has a great reputation for cooling solutions and reliable power, and this one’s pretty chill. Pick it up for only a minor amount of cold cash today at Newegg.com!

3 out of 5 eggsFan failure

Pros: For the cost, it supports an older OS box that is waiting to be retired. Had not had a problem with this brand on prior replacements.

Cons: Purchased in February 2015, last week noticed case was hot and smelled like an over heated pan. Checked and fan seized and not spinning. Due to cost of PS said oh well, not returning for replacement.

Other Thoughts: Have read in a previous online site that there was a way to extend fan, opened PS and fan barely moved under pressure. Have bottle of oil used on RC car bearings, removed tag on fan with little rubber plug attached, put 2 drops in and spun fan, it loosened it to spin freely, closed case and powered up. Have done this on a server I have over a year ago, still spinning.

4 out of 5 eggsUtilitarian

Pros: Standard power supply nothing to brag about. I have used several coolmax power suppies and founds them to be reliable.

Cons: The cables are rather short and I can see a lot of applications where this could cause an issue. Even in my small form factor case the the lead to the PSU was just barely long enough to reach.

Other Thoughts: NOT FOR FULL SIZED TOWERS!

4 out of 5 eggsweighs about 2 ounces

Pros: It moves air and runs cool. I've tried other top brands which are quieter and more wires , more expensive and run warm but this one you can hear see and feel the fan moving good amounts of air and the case and components stay cool. Powers everything and PCI card no problem.

Cons: None yet.

Other Thoughts: It is very light weight and I don't know how long it will last? The fan sounds like a fan , little higher rpm's than most I think , but I still can't hear it over my R7 260X. Keeps everything cool , I like it.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Cheap
Works beautifully
25$

Cons: A con is a reason to not buy it. If you need a small power supply, there is no reason to not buy this one.

Other Thoughts: PSU went out in my old E5500. Picked up this one for 25$, it plugs right into the old slot and wham. Back from the dead. GJ COOLMAX.

1 out of 5 eggsRebate ripoff

Pros: It works and was cheap

Cons: Noisy and the rebate is apparently a ripoff.

Other Thoughts: I have been waiting almost 3 months for my rebate check and cannot get a reply to my inquiries. I usually do not buy items with rebates because most of th etime they are nothing but ripoffs but I trusted the Coolmax name, silly me.

1 out of 5 eggsHorrid PS

Pros: None

Cons: This power supply cannot produce anything close to 400 watts. I needed a cheap dirty power supply to use on a HP upgrade and the price made it look attractive. The MSI vidio needed 380 watts minimum. I had tried a 300 watt supply that out performed this one.
It is very lightly constructed and internal parts overrated. Thankfully it did not over voltage and fry the motherboard when it died. It simply shut down never to live again.

Even though it arrived in a sealed box on opening one could smell the burnt parts.

Other Thoughts: For breathing new life into a dead computer that does not require any more than 250 watts this supply is cheap and would probably be OK

2 out of 5 eggsCheaply made

Pros: Good price

Cons: It looks very cheap. The metal housing is thin and the wires are also very thin. There is only ONE SATA connector.

Other Thoughts: Ther are better PSUs on NewEgg.
