5 out of 5 eggsExcellent

Pros: Been working non stop since 2008

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: Runs my Phenom II at 3.6, 4 sticks of ram, 3 HDD, and 6 case fans like a champ.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: The Power Supply for me has been pretty decent, does a good job in keeping the PSU cool.

Cons: It's slightly noisy, no 3.5 floppy connector, 120mm fan actually contributes to internal case temperature.

Other Thoughts: PSU came with system, would have got for a PC Power & Cooling, but I guess I got wait I paid for.

2 out of 5 eggsCoolmax PSU

Pros: Plenty of cables for everything I needed and everything has sufficient power for my HTPC.

Cons: This is by far the noisiest thing in my PC, it's a loud and annoying humm. Also it did not come with any screws to mount in the case, I would have thought it would but what do I know...

Other Thoughts: If I had to do it again I'd pay another $20 or so and get a better brand with better reviews.

1 out of 5 eggs60% useage dies in 1 1/2 yrs.

Pros: Nice cabling.

Cons: Been having trouble with this for 3 months. Finally just died. Machine runs for about 2 minutes and then the power supply cuts out.

Other Thoughts: Should have read the reviews before purchasing. Priced for the 'you get what you pay for'.

1 out of 5 eggsUSED TO be decent.

Pros: ????????

Cons: Watch out guys, what Coolmax is putting in these boxes isn't what they were making before.....

Other Thoughts: Although the boxes and specs on Newegg are the same as before, the units Coolmax is putting in the boxes are nothing like the old units. - what I got in the boxes looks a LOT cheaper than before, and the specs are radically different.
(One that I ordered had the 3.3 and 5 volt amperage at 18 and 20 amps, instead of the 28 and 30 amps listed here (and on the box). - No unit I recieved had the 3 speed fan switch, and the new ones are a lot lighter too.
---I guess that's it for coolmax.-----

5 out of 5 eggsNice Unit

Pros: I have a bunch or these in service to a lot of customers. No failures. A great solid, quiet supply.

Cons: No 3.5 floppy connector.

Other Thoughts: I mention the floppy, but only because an occasional customer still uses it.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Supplied adequate power to the motherboard and components

Cons: Cooling fan started to die after about a year of use (made abnormal and erratic sounds). Replaced every other fan in my system before I realized it was the PSU fan.

Other Thoughts: I'm happy with the PSU in general, and will continue to use it if I can find a replacement fan.

2 out of 5 eggs5 Sata connections?

Pros: It's cheap...

Cons: Unless I'm completely blind, it only has 4 sata connections... I ran out and bought an adapter for one of the 4-pin connectors to save myself the 2 week process of returning the darn thing.

Other Thoughts: Not really an issue if you don't have excessive amounts of SATA stuff, unfortunately - I do.

2 out of 5 eggsWorks for a while

Pros: Worked very well for a couple years. Has an adjustable fan switch (hi/auto/low).

Cons: Dies a horrible death.

Other Thoughts: Just tried an older revision (CX-500B) of one of these for my neighbor. The computer was running when the supply died and they were out of the house. I opened the unit up and saw a blown 5A250V fuse, so we tried re-fusing the unit. Turned it back on, nothing. Changed the fan speed and POW! Sparks and smoke flew on one of the hi-pots. The new fuse also blew. My guess is that the hi-speed fan circuit burned up, and when switching to auto-speed it blew up the second fan circuit. Wish I caught this on video for your enjoyment.
