1 out of 5 eggsDangerous Product - Fire

Pros: None

Cons: This power supply's overcurrent power fault circuit failed. The unit created a fire. Unit was sent to CoolMax, and they have stated No Fault Found.

CoolMax refused to recognize that this power supply is supposed to provided over voltage protection and short circuit protection.

Other Thoughts: Danger, stay clear, as this is terrible product. Spend more money on a good power supply that won't burn your house down.

1 out of 5 eggsJunk

Pros: Honestly.. nothing.

Cons: This is where this outdated product gets reviewed, hopefully this forwards on for people that are looking at ANY Coolmax product.

Their products have become subpar and their prices are the same as many better quality products.
Their warranty is complete garbage.
- They make you pay the shipping.
- They have no options to send you a new one while you wait their 3-4 weeks of fixing, so you'll be without your main supply and possibly your pc if this is your only supply for up to a month.
-The original e-mail they tell you to e-mail about this isn't valid.
Power supply is quite loud compared to similar products in this price range.
PSU fan died 11 months in.

Other Thoughts: This experience has put me off of Coolmax for life, I see no reason to go with a subpar warranty company when so many others give you so many better options. Best to avoid until they step their warranty coverage up.

4 out of 5 eggs3 years and still working...

Pros: I've owned this for 3 years, and it's still working.

Cons: Voltages are not what they're supposed to be, but so far hasn't caused any problems. (5v is .2 high, 12v is .4v low).
The harnesses are all too short, had to use a 6" extension on the 24 pin.

Other Thoughts: A lot of people have said this unit is bad, have had DOA's and such. I guess I'm one of the lucky ones.

3 out of 5 eggsOK PS, short cables

Pros: Good price on an alleged 700W PS. No trouble so far.

Cons: Short cables. Another inch or two would be a blessing for all but the smallest cases...

Other Thoughts: Got this on a rebate deal and free ship. In a mid-sized case, some of the wires just barely make it. The power wire that runs to the vid card is actually about 3 inches too short...other than that, it works well, but I dunno about the 700W rating...May be overestimated a bit...

1 out of 5 eggsBad experience

Pros: None for the one I tried.

Cons: Unable to boot after installing this PSU, system was too unstable. Got in to BIOS and saw that several voltages were WAY off. Tried to make some adjustments and save BIOS, but PSU failed during save which essentially killed the motherboard (until I can get a replacement BIOS chip from the manufacturer).

Other Thoughts: In hindsight I should have tested the PSU by hooking it up to an old MB first.

Manufacturer Response:

Hello,

Please contact 2support@coolmaxusa.com for further support. Please provide also your complete computer specs.

Regards,

Coolmax Support
