4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Power rating at 480 watts is okay for what I am using it for, which is a friends desktop that is used mainly for surfing and some instant messaging with relatives.

Cons: Quality was a bit on the low side, I would not recommend it being used for a game machine.

Other Thoughts: I rather expected what I got, but it is still an upgrade from the original 300 watt PS the computer had. And it did have some more current connections the older machine was lacking.

2 out of 5 eggsEhhh

Pros: Price
Fans are quieter than I was expecting

Cons: 12v1 rail is putting out 12.9v consistently. I'm not sure I would leave a system running on this for very long.

Other Thoughts: I bought this because of the price (free after rebate). I planned to keep it as a backup in case I ever need something temporary. Right out of the box the main 12v rail is a bit too far out of spec for my comfort. It will serve my purposes, but don't buy it expecting it to run your system for a long period of time.

1 out of 5 eggsThe WORST Power Supply

Pros: CHEAP CHEAP CHEAP

Cons: This thing won't even power an old P4 478 with AGP video card! I returned the previous one because I had hoped it was an exception, but this one simply tries to power up and the fans start to spin before it quits. What a shame, I paid $15 PLUS $9 shipping to return the old one.

Other Thoughts: The 12v rail only supports 16amps. Still, my video card uses a max of about 5 amps and there's nothing else besides some fans.

btw, this is the first and only time I have been disappointed with Newegg.

Pros: None.

Cons: Bought two of these units. First unit died within 2 days. Went to replace the dead unit with the second one I had bought and it sparked and smoked immediately on power-up.

Other Thoughts: Zero eggs if it was possible.

3 out of 5 eggsGood for backup

Pros: It was cheap after Newegg rebate, so I bought it for backup.

It works.

Cons: Only one pair of SATA power plugs.

Does not have 8 pin CPU power plug.

Noisy, but not too bad.

No PCI-E power connector for video card.

Other Thoughts: It was cheap after rebate, so I bought it as a backup power supply. It works. It only had a 4 pin CPU power plug, but my motherboard has an 8 pin connector. I have a low power CPU, so it works fine with only 4 pins plugged in.

Only gave it 3 eggs because the power connectors are so dated.

1 out of 5 eggsPower Supply

Pros: It did start initially.

Cons: It didn't last for more than 2 days. On the 2nd startup I had to push the power button several times before it would power up. Seemed to be struggling to start, but once running had no problems. On the 3rd startup it wanted to run, but every time I pushed the power button it would make a "trying" noise and quite. Never got it started again and returned. Hopefully the next one will be okay. BTW, my system need only 283 watts TOTAL to run and falls well within the range of this power supply.

1 out of 5 eggsFailed a month after warranty ended

Pros: Cheap

Cons: Did not last. Started making noise 13 months after purchase, had to replace.

Other Thoughts: I've read similar reviews of this product on other sites as well as Newegg.. If you can't afford more.. be prepared for it to fail
