An important tip from one of our users: don't just check total power output, find out what you need in the way of current on each power rail. If you need 20 A on your +12V rails and the supply only has 15A, it doesn't matter how many watts the supply puts out: don't buy it. Make certain that you have ENOUGH rails, too: sometimes, you need more than just two +12V rails for your setup.

Replacing an existing power supply is easier: just get a replacement that meets or exceeds the specifications of the old one. (You can usually find those printed on the side of the supply.)

That said, here's a power supply that is compatible with most ATX format motherboards, puts out 575 watts of power (see specifications for exact distribution) at a great price. Could this be your next power supply?

4 out of 5 eggsBought in 2009 & it still works...

Pros: I bought this back in 2009, and it still works today (Oct 2015). For a generally lower end PowerSupply, I would say this has met my needs and on a budget.

Cons: None

5 out of 5 eggsAmazing for price

Pros: Lots of connectors
Price
Wattage

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I had this thing for 7 years!! It finally just died on me last week. This PSU was amazing for the price! I used my computer everyday, and most times just left it on.

5 out of 5 eggsLong Lasting Freshness

Pros: It has been almost 4 years since I put this baby in my rig at home and it has never failed me. Reliable constant power. That is all I wanted to say about it.

Cons: none.

1 out of 5 eggsBargain that Wasn't

Pros: Price, but not really. I took a chance that the unit I got would not be a failure as many reviews could attest. Alas, mine quickly failed.

Cons: Failed after a few hours' use. Unfortunately, the computer into which it was installed is almost always not used. So, the failure took place outside of the 30 day return period. Lesson learned.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Cheap and worked - for 6 years

Cons: died after 6 years

Other Thoughts: Hey not bad for a cheap power supply of this rating. Mine managed to last 6 years before dying. Guess I got my money's worth.

1 out of 5 eggsFIRE RISK

Pros: none

Cons: Don't buy this, or any other unit that doesn't have Active PFC. If a power supply has the red voltage switch in the back, RUN AWAY.

If it weighs less than the sticks of RAM you're putting in the machine, RUN AWAY.

If the wires on your headphones are heavier than the wires on your power supply, RUN AWAY.

If it claims "500 watts" and is only $15, RUN AWAY.

Other Thoughts: As a certified computer tech and system builder for the better part of 10 years, I've seen so many cheap power supplies bite the dust, often taking critical components down with them. These things are horrible and should not be sold. Pay a little more and get something that is at least 80 Plus certified, even if you have to skip eating lunch out for a couple days to make up the cost difference.

Cut corners on anything else in the computer, but not the power supply.

1 out of 5 eggsbad power supply

Pros: none

Cons: I received the first one and it was doa. I tested the computer with another p/s and it worked fine. I did a rma and got a second one, it was also doa. I am not wanting to try for a third since it cost just as much to ship it back as it was to order it. good luck for anyone who decides to try with this manufacturer.
