3 out of 5 eggsGood while it lasts

This review is from: Cooler Master Elite Power - 460W Power Supply

Pros: as advertised

Cons: In less than three months it doesn't work any more. It was used occasionally. I am surprised.

5 out of 5 eggsNice Power Supply

This review is from: Cooler Master Elite Power - 460W Power Supply

Pros: This is a nice power supply for the price. I was concerned by some of the reviews of this power supply after I bought it. Fortunately I have a portable PC power supply tester. It indicated that the Cool Master Elite 460 power supply was fully functional, so I went ahead and installed it in my new AMD A8-7600 APU based system. It works great. I have had it on 24/7 for the last couple of weeks without a hitch. I would buy another one without hesitation. A PC power supply checker is a good thing to have when your building a new, or repairing a old computer system.

Cons: No problem to report so far.

Other Thoughts: I would recommend the Cool Master 460 PC power supply for builders on a budget. It works for me.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome

This review is from: Cooler Master Elite Power - 460W Power Supply

Pros: Bought one of these over 4 years ago to use in my personal desktop. It stays on 24/7. While doing some overdue maintenance and upgrades I decided to open this power supply up and blow it out with a can of air. It was caked in dust and filth - really gross. I've been negligent with the maintenance. I was amazed though that there wasn't any swelled up or leaky capacitors. I'm not a big fan of that much glue though, but they got good caps in these units.

Cons: This model has been around a while. It only has a 6 pin connector for graphics cards.

Other Thoughts: Not really.

1 out of 5 eggsBe Aware

This review is from: Cooler Master Elite Power - 460W Power Supply

Pros: With OK design. It is Not loud and has enough cables. Price is cheap.

Cons: I have another Elite Power 400W. They were both dead at around the same time, surprisingly. When I checked the warranty , I found this PSU has only 1 year warranty, which is insane for a power supply. Oh Coolmaster, you did bad on this!! So I have to buy a new one from a nearby store with longer warranty. Totally waste of time.

Other Thoughts: BE AWARE!!! This PSU is just the 400W one with a different label. After they was dead, I opened them and surprising noticed that 400W one and 460W have exactly same parts...So 460W is just another 400W one with different label. You know what, I cannot believe this. At this price range, you'd better go with Antec or Corsair. They have pretty decent PSU at this price range and of course, with at least 3 years warranty!!

Manufacturer Response:

3 out of 5 eggswould not buy another

This review is from: Cooler Master Elite Power - 460W Power Supply

Pros: Fits
Enough connectors
Quiet 120mm fan
On/off switch
Works

Cons: Light gauge cables
Light body weight
Weight is not included among its published specifications
Not 80+
Rebate
Abundant negative reviews here

Other Thoughts: I didn't buy this, and was very disappointed how little more it weighed than the dead junk PS it was purchased to replace. What I did was explain to the buyer what to shop for here, and when it arrived I installed it and ensured everything worked before returning the PC to the buyer. The light physical weight seems to match the light weight warranty. Low weight in a PS typically means heat sinks and copper have been skimped on. I value my own equipment enough to buy something with longer warranty and up front enough to include weight among specifications.

5 out of 5 eggsIt's a power supply

This review is from: Cooler Master Elite Power - 460W Power Supply

Pros: -It provides power for everything I want
-Fan is quiet
-Doesn't heat up much

Cons: -Uh, well there are a lot of cables, but that's really more of a problem with my smaller sized tower than the PSU

Other Thoughts: I needed an upgrade for my new 960 GTX and this was the best option based on power, reliability and price. I'm really quite happy. Like i said, my only complaint was with the mass of included cables, but they are nice for being able to add on more equipment in the future so I'm really just nitpicking.
