5 out of 5 eggsQuietest power supply I've ever heard

This review is from: Cooler Master Silent Pro M2 - 620W Power Supply with 80 PLUS Bronze Certification and Modular Cables

Pros: Quiet
Good for cable management
VERY quiet
Plenty of cables
VERY VERY quiet
Good efficiency curve
SERIOUSLY, the only way you can hear it is if you put your ear directly on it!

Cons: SATA power connectors are inconveniently placed for my uses.

Other Thoughts: The peripheral connectors have proprietary ends that plug into the power supply itself.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Value for Modular Design

This review is from: Cooler Master Silent Pro M2 - 620W Power Supply with 80 PLUS Bronze Certification and Modular Cables

Pros: Good modular design

Cons: CPU power cable could be longer

Other Thoughts: I have been running this for a few months with no problems. This is my first modular PSU, I was pleased to find a modular PSU at this price that seemed to be good quality.
The modular plugs are very simple. They make it easy to keep cables to a minimum.
The PCIe connectors have both a 4 and a 3+1 pin head on them. I was able to connect my 4 and 3 pin GPU with one cable.
Since the PSU is at the bottom of the case and the CPU power socket is at the top, having a longer cable would be helpful, but I was able to make it reach just fine.

2 out of 5 eggsUnlucky Purchase

This review is from: Cooler Master Silent Pro M2 - 620W Power Supply with 80 PLUS Bronze Certification and Modular Cables

Pros: Never got to test it out

Cons: Didn't work when I tried using it, kept making a weird sound.

Other Thoughts: I was unfortunate that I had to leave the city for awhile for business 2 days after my PSU arrived, and upon getting back home a couple days ago, I tried putting my new desktop together and it just wasn't working. Even though I just opened it, I know that I'm way past the refund date so I'm pretty sad about that, nothing that can be done about that I guess

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Customer,

We sincerely apologize for the trouble. Please contact us so we can find out what is faulty on the unit, it may be something that is not obvious that you may of missed. If you can please contact us we can troubleshoot and help rectify the situation either by double checking everything with you or by replacing the power supply itself.

Respectfully,

5 out of 5 eggsBest PSU I've purchased

This review is from: Cooler Master Silent Pro M2 - 620W Power Supply with 80 PLUS Bronze Certification and Modular Cables

Pros: It hasn't been that long since I've had the PSU nor have I owned a lot of different kinds but I believe that this is the best PSU I've had. Before purchasing this Silent Pro M2, I had a OCZ 550W Fatal1ty Modular PSU.

To begin this is a modular powersupply but it is not a full-modular. Luckily the only cords that are permanent are the 24-pin and 4/8 pin motherboard/CPU cords. These cords are needed for every computer so it's not really a waste of space when it comes to cable management. My only complaint is the cord is long for a small case when you try to manage your cables.

The product comes with a great amount of cables. The cables are flat and not braided thickly like most power supplies.

I've owned a several cheap powersupplies and an easy way to tell the difference is the weight. A cheap power supply may not weigh even 2 pounds. This power supply uses a textured metal and has a good amount of weight. It will make a desktop stable if the power supply is bottom-mounted.

620W is enough for any CPU + Single GPU combination. With a single fan the power supply operates at a silent rate than any of my other fans.

With the included rebate this PSU is a steal. $49.99 for a quality power supply.

Cons: It's not a full modular power supply and the wires are too long for small cases.

Other Thoughts: The material used on this power supply is identical to the material on my case (Cooler Master N200) I am very happy of how much this product fits with my computer. Fits my all black Gaming Build

I am currently working on a AMD FM2+ platform computer. I am waiting for a 6-8 Core APU. Maybe it will come when Excavator is released around 2015. I fell in love with Cooler Master quality and price.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat PSU!

This review is from: Cooler Master Silent Pro M2 - 620W Power Supply with 80 PLUS Bronze Certification and Modular Cables

Pros: - Quiet.
- Modular.
- Works.

Cons: - Smaller models don't have a dual 8-pin connector option?
- Sometimes wish I had more of one or the other cables.

Other Thoughts: I've bought four of these PSUs for various builds - 3 of the 620W ones and 1 of the 1000W ones. All four of them have been ticking along happily.

The biggest "problem" I've found with these PSUs is the choice of cabling at times. I find myself wanting more 4-pin Molex connectors in some builds, while other builds require a ton of SATA connectors. I'd dearly love to be able to buy individual modular cables for these PSUs. As it stands, I've got plenty of spares now that I've used 4 of them in builds, but it was a bit touch-and-go for one of the early ones.

4 out of 5 eggsGood deal on a Modular PSU

This review is from: Cooler Master Silent Pro M2 - 620W Power Supply with 80 PLUS Bronze Certification and Modular Cables

Pros: Semi-modular, cable management, good amount of power, got half off!

Cons: The reasons I deducted one egg are as follows:

The cables are a bit short to use multiple cables for devices; the multi-SATA cable for example has very short lengths between the SATA plugins, making it a bit difficult to plug them in all along the same wire.

The second issue is that I have to plug in two PCIe power cables to power one GPU with two six-pin plugins. It would have been better if these cables had two 6+2 pin power connectors per cable instead of a 6+2 pin and an 8 pin.

Other Thoughts: Overall, I'm satisfied to get this for 60$. However, I would not have been satisfied with this product if I would have got it for full price at 120$, due to some simple design issues for the supplied cables.

5 out of 5 eggs

This review is from: Cooler Master Silent Pro M2 - 620W Power Supply with 80 PLUS Bronze Certification and Modular Cables

Pros: Stable power, quiet, functional, elegant and understated. Modular cables make cable management a breeze.

Cons: None so far.

Other Thoughts: My build:

Intel i5-3350P Ivy Bridge
ASRock Z77M mATX Motherboard
Kingston HyperX Black 8GB DDR3 1600
MSI Twin Frozr Radeon R9 270X 2GB
Samsung 840 EVO 120GB SSD
CM Silent Pro M2 620W
CM N200 mATX Mini Tower

Running Tomb Raider 2013 at 1360x766 (HDMI -> older Samsung 32" 720p/1080i HDTV) with everything completely maxed, full anti-aliasing, tesselation, etc... No noticeable slowdown at any point thus far - this machine is a beast.

1 out of 5 eggsPSU failure

This review is from: Cooler Master Silent Pro M2 - 620W Power Supply with 80 PLUS Bronze Certification and Modular Cables

Pros: Modular design.
Very quite fan.

Cons: Failed within a month of use. Actually I purchased this Cooler Master on 2/1/13 but never used it until I installed it in my new build about a month ago. Worked fine for a couple of weeks but then I ran into problems powering-up the PC. Was hoping it was just a temporary glitch but now it's dead-in-the-water. Power testers also indicate the PSU is defective.

Other Thoughts: I've replaced the PSU with the same PowerMaster make/model I purchased in October, 2012. Also never used until now. Keeping my fingers crossed.
I've had a number of Cooler Master PSUs in the past and they've all performed admirably. This is the first Cooler Master model I've found defective.
